Hi Jacob.. Thanks for this video!!!! Everyone told me that java moss is the easiest plant to grow.. But not for my case, i am still a beginner and i have glued them onto the stone surface... Just a little as long they are attached.. But after 4 days.. I am seeing them turning into brownish green.. I am not sure whats wrong.. I have medium light on.. Temperature is around 26 to 29 degree celcius.. I have my filter on too.. Air pump will be on when the lights it's off...
I guess i might make some mistakes, i remember taking a bunch of java moss and stick it together without spreading them.. Was it too dense that causes them to turn the way it is?
I have already remove those brownish green leaves and replace them with a smaller sectiom of java moss.. Instead of sticking i tied them to the stone.. Hopefully they will grow happily hahahaha
Thanks in advance would really appreciate it if u would answer my question ahhahaha

I am getting ready to set up my new tank, which I want to try and aquascape. In one of the tutorials I was watching, they said that it is best to use darker colours in the back of the tank and lighter ones up front, to create depth. - I would like to have a moss wall as the background, and I was wondering what is a beginner-friendly moss that is a darker green that I could use?

There are some mosses which are a little finicky like fissidens fontanus. If its in low light, it tends to get really dark, drab, green and doesn't grow well. And in higher light without co2, algae clings to it like fuzz on velcro. I feel mosses never look as good as they do in pictures if there isn't high light and co2.

    • @Jagadeeshpottipati

ChinAMAPutatoDragun My moss looked really nice with light green texture giving a tree like effect on the driftwood which I never intended to happen.. but when one of the lights went off.. it turned out to be medium light and the moss slowly is turning brown on some areas.. I agree with u..

Moss can grow at incredible rate and may need trimmed often. Also will spread really easy. So if a piece gets away it can and will start growing where ever it goes. If you let it go the moss can overtake a whole tank. But if you stay on top of it you can do a lot with it.

    Hello,
I love your TH-cam channel and thought that you may be able to answer this question I have, and haven't been able to figure out. So I have a 55 gallon tank with a Coralife T5 HO quad fixture, with a Co2 system! I bought a few bunches on Rotala Rotundifolia at my LFS about a year ago and it has grown quite large and spread. But it has turned from a beautiful Reddish Orange, to totally green. I've been dosing 5ml of Iron once a week, but that hasn't really been helping, so just wasn't sure what you would do to fix that problem!! I would really appreciate the help.

My Goldfish demolished my anubias (all new leaves) and java fern. I personally haven't found any live plant that will "survive" goldfish.... but you can grow plants in a separate tank to feed the goldfish, that's what I do. I have great plants and the fish get treats without me losing everything at once.
