And here I am across the Tasman and Rolex refused to even sell me a set of replacement spring bars for my Explorer 40. They made me give it to them to send it away to the Rolex Service Centre in Melbourne (2000Kms away) just to fit spring bars under warranty. My watch was gone for a month. A whole month of my factory warranty burnt up just so they could fit spring bars. I walked out of Rolex and crossed the road to the Omega Boutique and went inside and asked the SA if I could get a set of spring bars for my Speedy. He went out the back and came back a minute later with a zip lock baggie with spring bars in there. He handed the bag over and said "Here you go, I threw in a spare set because you can never have too many". I asked him how much I owed him and he just laughed and said "At Omega we look after our customers, there's no charge for spring bars."
That is ridiculous. My AD in Alabama, USA, installed two new spring bars for me. When I asked him what I owned him, he said, "Nothing." Although they have serviced a vintage Rolex for me, I have bought nothing from them (although I am on a wait list for a watch).
I just wasted 15 minutes 29 seconds of my precious life watching this. I feel I nearly got scammed. Unlike me, there could be others out there who might actually believe this video and run to the AD expecting to get a Rolex Daytona Panda by just walking in.

Don't worry. As the watch market crashes, prices in the secondary market decline, and young people grow increasingly uninterested in watches, Rolex will still be difficult to buy from an AD. Scarcity is their marketing. Rolex will simply decrease supply of desirable watches, even further. And ADs will continue to push gold and diamond encrusted garbage because the profit margins are higher. Rolex management won't change.
I waited 10 months and bought two other Rolex watches for my wife and daughter before getting the call from AD to pick up the Rolex submariner Starbucks… no discounts. 😅
Not too far from the truth now! In 2022 got a green bezel sub in less than a month. Last visit got the wife a 36mm explorer as a walk in with no wait at all.
I went to a Christmas party, a guy working behind the Bar was wearing a jlc ultra thin - no Rolex watch in steel is in reality worth more than £5000 these watches are ridiculously overpriced. You are subscribing to the idea that Rolex watches are in someway a big exclusive thing like you are buying a Patek ( my dad had one of those and he was a bricklayer) these ideas are fuelled by the crazy watch boom we have had. Outside of the Middle East they are going to struggle to sell some of these watches and the watch market beneath the Rolex is now turning into a bloodbath. I know someone who slept with the sales girl at their local Rolex A.D. I don’t know if that was part of the deal or whatever, but it wouldn’t surprise me. OVERPRICED- That dog barking in the background is probably excited because he’s just been offered a MINT GREEN DAYDATE mint green by the local Rolex AD - I’d like to see a picture of Sarah. I think that would probably be the best part of this whole thing.
Where do I have to go to find a jewellers where the sales women make me sleep with them to be able to buy a watch? Just so I can avoid those places you know, wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them!
Hi Mark I liked the story and the point you are making. I've probably got the spend history with Rolex to be considered to get a panda Daytona but as a proper watch collector have not put my name on the list because you are right it's not very easy to tell the time and the biggest thing for me is it's too small for my wrist size. But they are very nice looking watches if Rolex brought out a 42+mm version I might change my mind though. great video thanks John 👍.
Last year I was at my favorite Auckland pub down Queen St and the barkeep was wearing a panda Daytona. I complimented his taste and he seemed slightly distressed that his watch had drawn any attention. It had been a gift from his grandfather and he was a bit self-conscious about flashing it around at work. I happened to have on a Platona, so we got to talking watches in short order. Love your city - will visit twice next month.
I've been on the wait list at Partridge's for the Pepsi GMT for over a year... Hearing that someone walked in a got one off the shelf, I will admit grinds my gears...
Ha ha, I did wonder. Last week, I had a student turn up with a brand new Sea Dweller 43. Hence, I think I believed the story... Very nice watch... I re-watched your video on yours...
The Daytona is the true definition of form over function, i used to have a very good relation with my local AD and they were only holding Rolex and Tudor brands , before 2017 i remember i used to regularly visit the store and i was offered the Daytona @ list many times both the old and the new references and never saw the need to buy one for the exact same reason legibility, it was really difficult to tell the time at a glance and the screwed chronograph pushers that you have unscrew to use the chronograph made me really question all the hype about it, don't get me wrong i love the looks on the wrists of others, the finishing is great and the proportions are spot on but that's not the only reason you buy a watch for unless you do .
April Fools??? You are a pretty good liar 🤥 😂 you got me waiting all the way to the end of the video! You made a pretty good point, if it were so easy to get a Rolex, I probably wouldn’t want it! Rolex along with other luxury brands know what they are doing and that is never going to happen😂😂😂 CHEERS!!!! P.s right before seeing this video I saw “Talking Watches with Tony” he turned down a Pepsi from his AD so you really was fooling me for a few minutes there 😂😂😂😂
OMG Mark you crack me up.😂😂. Well will you pick me up a Cookie Monster from your great AD in NZ because I don't think that is happening here in Sydney. And me being just an ordinary person( not a collector or flipper) has no history of buying from an AD has no hope. No amount of perfume or sprucing up will help.😂😂. All the best. Love the video.
The day will come when you can buy any Rolex you want, and by then you won't want it anymore! We'll all be going on the list for a Zenith instead, and trimming our eye brow hairs prior to a visit to the Zenith AD!
Had me going there ! Was going to ask which AD! Lol. It will happen. But we still hyping right now and im still begging. Cashed up a few and going to go grey on one (under retail model)
Is it clickbait or did you read the title as you wanted to imagine it? I get it's an unusual format, but it's very clear in the description that's it's ficticious, and if you've seen any of my content before, you'll know that I like to take the pi$$ out of the watch hobby
I don’t know if you’re joking or if you’re for real. Wanting a watch because it’s a rare halo product that not many people have and is highly desired, is not the reason why I follow your channel. That you care how wearing a Rolex makes you feel special because you got one and other people don’t makes you look like a petty shallow person. Funny you were wearing the Peter Blake, because I found your channel because of that watch and have continued watching ever since. In that video, that was a watch enthusiast talking. In this video I saw exactly the opposite. I really do hope you were joking.
I should have made it clearer. I am totally joking! Hence I was wearing the Peter Blake and not the Panda. The message at the end is that I don't want the Rolex now, as I suddenly realized it's easy to get and everyone has one. It was an act. Next video I will make that clear!
This is what the norm should be. What has been normalized was pretty stupid in the first place. They don't sell as well anymore, with the market cooling back down as the bubble pops, so it's finally going back to normal. If you still have the need to feel the exclusivity of being treated like human garbage, try Porsche ;)
Awesome graphics dude. What are you? Five? And it's nice that you put that it's a fictitious story in the description, but no such declaration in the video. This deserves a "Don't recommend channel" if I've seen one.
I’ve had one good experience at my Rolex authorised dealer The rest of the experiments won’t so great., I found Rolex AD to be very snobby that’s why instead of me getting a Rolex I’m going to get a Tudor because the people at Tudor are much nicer that’s my opinion
Thats because the people at tudor actually have to "sell" you the watch. Rolex salespeople dont have to be a salesperson they just clerk watches for people with enough spend.
For the entire duration of the video i was waiting for a catch or an April's fool day prank declaration 😢 But wow. Is it that easy now?? With a discount on a Panda and Pepsi? What's happening 😮
@@TheRandomWatchDudebut yes. I won't want one if it's too easy to get. 😂 Scary Also because I've spent too much money to grind through date just and other non Rolex to climb the hierarchy ladder. If I'm a new customer, well that's another story
If you wear a Rolex what does it say about you? Wealthy executive? Street bum? Surgeon? Drug dealer! Rich or petty thief. ? Exactly so if it’s status you want steer clear of the wannabe watch.
Yep that's the whole thing with Rolex. Personally I like to think that I love Rolex for its quality and design. Reality is there are plenty of quality well designed watches out there. But there is nothing that touches the Submariner - fact!
That’s 15 minutes of a story that could have taken less than 3 minutes. To surmise- “everyone got a watch at a discount and I feel less special. Waaaahhh. “. Save yourself the 15 minutes and check out a better channel
Wow, I’m just starting to get into watches, and the more I hear these stories, the more I’m turned off by Rolex. It’s baffling how people get sucked into these games! I just don’t get it-Rolex feels like the BMW or Porsche of the car world: common but with an incredible knack for marketing and manipulation. As a new watch enthusiast, I just don’t see the appeal. I tried on a Hulk my friend owns, and it didn’t do anything for me. Honestly, it feels like many of you are either caught up in the emperor’s new clothes myth or obsessed with keeping up with the Joneses!
Richard Gere looks like you! I can’t believe your story. In NYC it’s still the same ol’ crap. Why would you NOT wear Daytona in the video if u just bought it?
Richard Gere says thanks for watching! Just to let you in on a secret, the story is a total fabrication and there is no shred of truth in it. I made up a story so unlikely, to make the point that if Rolex was available as a walk-in at a discount, you might not like it and crave for it as much as you do as when they're hard to get.
We all knew this would happen sooner or later. Now that we are in a global recession (not yet announced) Rolex hit the "JUST SELL WHAT YOU CAN" bottom. Everyone will get what they want buying at the top. In a year no one want a Rolex cuz everyone from their sister and Ex girlfriend has one. Just wait abit longer if you really want that Rolex you always wanted. BIG buying opportunity is coming. As a Speculation? Its over. Move on to the next trade.
@TheIntellect8 not one of my best videos, but others have said it's the best I've made. So this just highlights how everyone has different tastes and different sense of humor etc. Next video will be a lot more serious!
Did you watch the last 30 seconds? My point is that if everyone could get any Rolex as a walk-in, you might not want it as much as you think you do. I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, stylistically! But that's why we have Teddy 🧸
I wonder if you having a TH-cam channel had anything to do with it. Watch sales are slow and if word gets out that you got a Panda there is a good chance people will find their way into the store and just might buy something else. Good for you though.
It's not my usual style, and I will follow it up with a more serious discussion on availability. But I wanted to be a bit more light hearted about it and give this a try. Seems like some people actually believed me anyway!
OK, I get it, funny. Next !! You need a hobby other than watch collecting, collecting baseball cards ?? I'm also joking, entertained us for a few minutes in a world that is not really joking.
Bull! You just wasted my time, with a lie. Guess you don’t want to grow your channel, this sure must be pissing of a lot of potential followers. If you hadn’t told the friend and the coffee guy stories I would have believed it, but no store is forking Rolex watches out so Willy nilly and that with discounts. Who serves coffee for a living and wear a €10.000 Rolex? Nobody!
Mark, what your story tells me is that you're an obnoxious watch snob that was suckered into spending a ridiculous amount of money and gave up your dignity and self-respect for an overpriced and over hyped and almost nonfunctional watch like most people do. I'm so sorry for your loss of self-respect. My condolences. Youve been had.
@ajbones4207 what your comment tells me is that you are very easily fooled, and don't use common sense to check that what people are telling you is correct. It's a ficticious story you numpty!

Where do I have to go to find a jewellers where the sales women make me sleep with them to be able to buy a watch? Just so I can avoid those places you know, wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them!
@ 🤣
Hi Mark I liked the story and the point you are making. I've probably got the spend history with Rolex to be considered to get a panda Daytona but as a proper watch collector have not put my name on the list because you are right it's not very easy to tell the time and the biggest thing for me is it's too small for my wrist size. But they are very nice looking watches if Rolex brought out a 42+mm version I might change my mind though. great video thanks John 👍.
@@JohnBowman-ut4dz cheers John. You're spending money on what you like rather than just because you can buy it.
I’m happy with my Rolex and it doesn’t matter if everyone has one.
That's exactly how I feel too!
i like this story, it was fun but i bet if this happened for real your feeling would be true!
Welcome brother. You've reached the highest level of watch collecting, beyond snobbery and exclusivity. 🤣
@ohbennyboy One day I will be so filthy rich that I won't need to shave before I visit the AD, and they will still sell me a Rollie!
@@TheRandomWatchDudeit's a lovely watch. Enjoy in good health! Otherwise, you can pass it on.
It was a captivating story. Great video, as always.
@ohbennyboy it was all a total fabrication. Just having some fun making a point that if it were that easy to get, I might not want one as much!
@@TheRandomWatchDude 😅 well, you got me!! How naive of me!
@@chriselley2261 marvelous story! Enjoy Auckland. It's not a bad place!
Never was a shortage of watches. Rolex the best in the business At marketing.
I've been on the wait list at Partridge's for the Pepsi GMT for over a year... Hearing that someone walked in a got one off the shelf, I will admit grinds my gears...
@MBCGRS it's entirely fictional, don't worry. I wanted to make a particular point, and thought a little bit of fictional irony might be fun
Ha ha, I did wonder. Last week, I had a student turn up with a brand new Sea Dweller 43. Hence, I think I believed the story... Very nice watch... I re-watched your video on yours...
What watch brand and model was it again?🙄
TUDOR 😃
The Daytona is overrated, impractical (who uses the tachometer and unscrews those pesky pushers), and it’s illegible.
The Submariner is king.
a watch is a watch is a watch ! and you watched ! lol
Only to the ignorant
P.s right before seeing this video I saw “Talking Watches with Tony” he turned down a Pepsi from his AD so you really was fooling me for a few minutes there 😂😂😂😂
I do enjoy a good shaggy dog story 🤣
LOL In have the money to buy these watches but i will only EVER buy good quality homages.
If you got no cash and into watches get a Rolex. You don't loose much and get a decent machine-made reliable watch.
You don’t lose that much of certain Seiko divers either
Rolex is largely made that way as well, it is a mass produced watch.
@@pureblood8307 lol so true
OMG Mark you crack me up.😂😂. Well will you pick me up a Cookie Monster from your great AD in NZ because I don't think that is happening here in Sydney. And me being just an ordinary person( not a collector or flipper) has no history of buying from an AD has no hope. No amount of perfume or sprucing up will help.😂😂. All the best. Love the video.
Why buy from AD when you can get a new Cookie Monster cheaper from the grey market
The day will come when you can buy any Rolex you want, and by then you won't want it anymore! We'll all be going on the list for a Zenith instead, and trimming our eye brow hairs prior to a visit to the Zenith AD!
@cartierwatchnerd me love cookies 🍪 😋
Had me going there ! Was going to ask which AD! Lol. It will happen. But we still hyping right now and im still begging. Cashed up a few and going to go grey on one (under retail model)
@KRBY555 Grey is a good option now really isn't it. You don't have to trim your eyebrows and have a shave before buying!
I’ve got the Seiko version of the Rolex Daytona

Thanks for being smart enough to realise that couldn't possibly have happened in real life 🤣

Click bait ! The Video is in poor taste mate. Fooling the public like this.
@@TheRandomWatchDude - Thank you. A sigh of relief 😅.
@@bloodymarvelous4790 you're not my target audience. Move along to Teddy...
F***ing Hell 😂😂😂😂😂
@@mortgagemartin3987 woopsy! 😀
For the entire duration of the video i was waiting for a catch or an April's fool day prank declaration 😢
But wow. Is it that easy now?? With a discount on a Panda and Pepsi? What's happening 😮

Is this true wow
Sorry no its a ficticious enactment of what it would be like if all Rolex were available as a walk-in
That’s 15 minutes of a story that could have taken less than 3 minutes.
To surmise- “everyone got a watch at a discount and I feel less special. Waaaahhh. “.
Save yourself the 15 minutes and check out a better channel
Oh dear! I bet you even thought it was a true story too didn't you!
@talkCRYPT0 just for the record. This video is pure fiction. Watch it as a form of self deprecation and cynicism of the watch industry.
@ I realised after a few minutes! But it’s unfortunately very true! Thanks for the video 👍👍👍
Rolex is the new People's Watch.
Hi Mark thanks for today’s content. Thanks.
@dean5346 glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
@@TheRandomWatchDude Let’s hope it will become true one day. Meanwhile, the Oscar goes to...

It's whatever you want it to be sir 😄 but definitely not a true story!
I wonder if you having a TH-cam channel had anything to do with it. Watch sales are slow and if word gets out that you got a Panda there is a good chance people will find their way into the store and just might buy something else. Good for you though.
@bgandjsco1 its purely a ficticious story. I thought it was clearly obvious. Far too outrageous to be true 👍

Who serves coffee for a living and wear a €10.000 Rolex? Nobody!
OMG! That's the whole point of the story. If anybody could get a Rolex as a walk-in, far fewer people would want one.

I'm so sorry for your loss of self-respect. My condolences. Youve been had.
