My guess is that they want this to remain a 'special' iPhone, but if they launched it at the same time as the others, everyone would just buy this one and then it's no longer special. You might say that's a good thing because more people buying is more money towards AIDS research but if more people buy it one year, reducing the 'specialness' of it, then less people will want to buy it the next year, because it's just another iPhone color at that point. Anyway, that's my take on it.

The chinese often ripoff and steal designs that other countries had first. Also, patents usually don't matter/go into effect in most Asian countries as far as I'm aware, which is why there is not that many Chinese companies operating outside of Asia.
Yeah, one of the major criticisms for OnePlus so far has been how similar they've made their products to Apple's. If I recall correctly, they're going to try and steer away from that now, but I'm not entirely sure

Is the red more expensive than the regular iPhone 8? I really want this phone, but I won’t get if it’s more than the regular.

Whenever I buy the new iPhone I‘d buy it in red but *NO* it‘s never available on release.
I mean they have to give away some of the sale price so they really don't want to do that until not many people are buying anymore
