i guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
I use the peak design strap, you can wrap it round your wrist, and quickly adjust between neck strap and cross body, and it also has quick release to take the strap off
I got recently GRII for that purpose. To be honest I couldn't be happier. I will get eventualy x100v but for now my film camera and gr is perfect duo :)
This spring I googled and googled for an adjustable camera strap. I checked the out reviews and decided on the Artisan&Artist ACAM - E25R. It's length adjustable. Bought one for myself, tried it out and found its length adjustable in a flash. My wife is shorter but it slides shorter to accommodate her. Over your shoulder, across your chest...no problem. Looked at so many, love this one. Also, the easy adjustment is great for summer with just a T-shirt, autumn and winter coats. You wouldn't have to tie the strap behind your head as you demonstrated. I paid $75 CA. You can order with ring attachment (with leather protectors) or the loop attachment.
something you guys might wanna try out buying a small bag that has clips and putting a camera strap on that. A cross body bag works just as well it allows you the freedom of moving the camera where ever but you can put the camera somewhere safe
Great little video exploring the straps.Working for forty years in photography the straps can make or break a job or mood ! Getting it right is essential, things as you describe need to be harmonious and fluid.
They used to drive me nuts at first, but one of the nicest neck straps I grew to love are those silicone ones that came with the Leica T series cameras. They grip your clothing very well so you don’t need to worry about your camera sliding down your arm and falling off if you’re carrying it one armed, etc. Yes, it’s a bummer when it gets hot and humid it sticks to your skin a bit with sweat, but the security of the camera is a beneficial trade off
My preferred setup is a hybrid approach. I have a wrist strap for when I'm actively shooting and a peak design capture clip when I need both hands free or my arm gets tired. I'm not a big fan of neck straps since my neck starts to hurt after a while and the camera tends to swing dangerosly while hiking. I also find longer straps have a tendency to get in the way of my viewfinder sometimes when taking a shot. My hybrid approach solves all of those problems. The capture clip holds my camera tightly when hiking, while the wrist strap gives maximum flexibility.
Great video! I mostly carry my X100T cross-body with a Peak Design Leash. PD's anchor link system would actually allow you to get your camera off you without taking your jacket off. My strap is attached to the left hand side of the camera (when looking through the viewfinder/LCD) and the bottom of it through the tripod mount so that my right hand is unobstructed when I operate the camera and it is facing the ground/my body when I carry it (less chance of the lens bumping into something and it allows me to grab the camera a bit easier, kind of like a gun from a holster).
X100V: Peak Designs Wrist Cuff Canon EOS R: Peak Designs Slide I love them both! Leica M4-2: handmade local artist leather wrist strap. Beautiful and uncompromising functionality.
I have sliding shoulder that strap doesn’t stay on, so I wear cross body all the time. Wear a jacket or shirt outside is my preference when I travel to new places to avoid unwanted attention and a bit safer. Leather strap has advantage of stay in position. My favorite strap is Vi Vance Matador SL version, I can use Peak Design Anchor Link with it, it’s braised leather so it’s soft and both sides are the same that I can slide the camera (I.e., Leica Q2 size and weight) to any position and stay there. Strap like PD only has traction in mid section, once you slide off center, it’s slippery and will slide back. Having the camera stay in mid to lower front position is perfect for hand and to avoid camera bump into things.
Definitely wrist strap for compact cameras and I rock the cross body for bigger camera. Wearing it around your neck the traditional way is annoying because the camera sways back and forth when you're walking. I'm thinking about buying the peak design capture clip for my backpack.
thanks for the tip on winding one side of the strap around your arm, I was twisting the whole strap up and it was uncomfortable and would get loose really easily!
I love the crossbody strap method, especially for rangefinding and mirrorless cameras. For DSLR or heavier cameras, I'm more used to the whist strap. (not the light-weight ones, but the ones that are wrapping around the hand.
I use a wriststrap made out from an ID lanyard for my xpro1. Been tempted to replace it with those fancy leather wriststrap, but those are bulky in my pocket. The cross body strap is the winner for me in this video.
Check the Diagnl Ninja strap. Over the shoulder and across the body. Length is adjustable with a quick buckle similar to a messenger bag. It also has a quick/side release buckle so you can take it off while wearing a jacket or bag over it.
@Samuel Streetlife: I assume that the neck strap project never materialized as you considered. Do you happen to know where I can this kind of strap today? It seems simply perfect for my two GRs!
Hi Samuel. Love your video. Very thought out , consistent, and informative. I lived in Bavaria, Germany near Würzburg, for over 30 years total. Now I live in Texas. I found the weather in Germany a lot more agreeable. It gets way too hot here.
Thanks Samuel and good luck for your new business you'll do great! With my Canon 5D Mark II I used a neoprene neck strap that made it much lighter. With Fuji I use rather thin leather neck straps only
On the problem of wearing the strap crossbody under the jacket, and then having to remove the jacket in order to quickly get rid of the strap: The Schwalberg Strap from long, long ago. Bob Schwalberg was a writer in one of the photography magazines, “Popular”, “Modern”, one of those. He devised a strap with a snap hook inserted within the length. Unhook the thing, and simply drag the strap out from underneath. Earned a nice income from it.
Neck strap which you can turn into a wrist strap is the best imho. It's tiring to walk long time using only a wrist strap. I prefer therefor a neck strap to hang the camera over the shoulder and pick it if there is a good scene to photograph.
Peak Designs straps swapping across the body or to wrist strap with the clips that detach quickly and easily. One idea you might like to experiment with your straps is some guitar strings in the middle of the two layers of the strap so that it can't be cut from behind. Jacket tip was great. Security in some countries is worth considering.
Mainly use some of the neck straps from Artisan&Artist. Using wrist or neck with these ones is easy. Some of them are adjustable. I would like something for the GR, still using the one that comes with the camera but I will find the one
I'm always using a sling strap that hangs my 7dii on the hip. Super nice that it has a clip under the arm to keep it from sliding about and I dont notice the weight with the padding. 😎
Awesome video! There's not too many people making videos about straps from what I've seen, and it's really handy that you made one. I'm more of a long strap person. I have a Pentax Spotmatic, and trying to use shorter straps to hang an SLR across my body is too short for my liking. It always gets in the way of my arm and hand when I have it by my side. I got a long leather strap a couple of years ago, and I love it.
I have my strap lengthened cross shoulder as it gives me literally every option. Though when I'm actively shooting a lot I do a super tight wrist wrap. I put a Domke strap on all my cameras as I find it super comfortable, versatile, and durable. when I wanna wear it as a neck strap I disconnect the middle clippy thing and loop it which shortens it perfectly. (that probably makes no sense if you aren't familiar with Domke straps.) ha ....and that concludes my Ted talk on straps.....

I would like a tissue strap (I use light camera) that I can wear around my shoulder so it does'nt touch my neck. I'll wear it cross body. Please can you produce it? I can't find one
My question is that you leave the camera on during street walking? Even when you put it in your pocket? The censor keeps reading, right? But if you turn off then there is risk that you will miss the shot
I turn my camera off when I put it in my pocket. The start up time of the GRIII is fast enough for me to get a quick snap when I see something. But ideally you should have your camera in your hands and turned on.
Like ithe video but you didn't show the best one. It's attached to the tripod mount, very flexible and the strap does not come in front of the lens when shooting and you can remove it quickly when needed. However it is essential you check it is still tightly attached as I destroyed two xpro coming loose from the screw and the shutter button was broken as I use an extra release button on top of it.
Excellent video my wide-shouldered friend ;) One note, with the cross strap you can use an anchor for example from peak design on the tripod screw mount, and another one on the side like usual. Then you can cross strap but it's much easier to instantly take it up and shoot.
When i saw the finger strap 0:59 i thought yeah finally someone else uses it :D So i use home made leather finger strap with my Olympus omd m10 mii usually with 20mm lumix.
Hahaha, i am using the original canonet strap that came with my film camera, that thing is butter, and it also says made in japan, which make me feel better about life 😄
I recently bought PD cuff strap for GR because the factory strap seemed to me a bit too "toy-ish?" and i have more firm grip with the cuff. Also Im using neck strap as a wrist strap as you showed. The best method for me for now :) I need to test the third "new" method that you showed and check how it works for me. Great video!! :)
I use the strap from an old Wii controller and it's great haha

Can totally relate to carrying a smaller digital camera when going out shooting film. It’s always good to have a good digital backup

@@SamuelStreetlife what would you say is a good length for a cross body strap? IM around 5' 11". Did you have the one you showed at the max length?
I like the peak design straps and I have the quick release strap so you can lengthen or shorten quickly.
I use a finger-loop-strap-thing from the zip of an outdoor bag, to connect my middle finger and the camera. Very mini.
I use a large keyring looped into the lug and just wear the camera essentially like a ring.
The wrist seem to be the best. Faster and can be discreet. Thanks for the tips. Entertaining and informative as usual.
Hi Samuel.. where can I buy neck strap same like your strap for ricoh gr?
I bought some small key rings and mini snap hook for camping so I use them in order to easily quick release every kind of camera strap

Peak Design Leash and wrist straps. Soft and flexible mounting system allows a quick change.

The adjustable (long or short) peak design strap

When i saw the finger strap 0:59 i thought yeah finally someone else uses it :D So i use home made leather finger strap with my Olympus omd m10 mii usually with 20mm lumix.
Hahaha, i am using the original canonet strap that came with my film camera, that thing is butter, and it also says made in japan, which make me feel better about life 😄
I use a Wii controller strap, got it for like 3 bucks and it's light, small and sturdy as fuck.
That is actually a very cool strap! :D
i am transitioning from shooting on a rangefinder to GR, so i totally understand that moment 10:18
For street shooting, I use a sling strap for one camera, and a clip on my belt for the other. Can’t stand to have any strap around my neck.
Haha! I saw that 😂
Great cat review! Does it come in black and aperture priority?
All cats are aperture priority - "feed me, feed me"
I recently bought PD cuff strap for GR because the factory strap seemed to me a bit too "toy-ish?" and i have more firm grip with the cuff. Also Im using neck strap as a wrist strap as you showed. The best method for me for now :) I need to test the third "new" method that you showed and check how it works for me. Great video!! :)
