The only Beatles appearance in TOTP was deleted by BBC decades ago. This is the only surviving film of this rare performance. A kid in the 60s filmed this with his home camera in front of the TV. This has been a Holy Grail of Beatlemaniacs for decades.

@@invisibleray6987 Everyone always mimed on TOTP. By the '80s, performers started incorporating jokes about the miming into their appearances. There's a clip by Squeeze where the band members have all switched instruments. Maybe the best is a clip of Tracey Ullman doing her single "Breakaway". She and the two backup singers are "singing" into hairbrushes rather than microphones, like kids at home in front of their mirrors,.

Nice sync work during the first half or so, even if it reuses some scenes due to the missing bits, but what's the use in putting the budokan audio? It makes it even more confusing, and the performance probably consisted of live vocals over the originak instrumental studio track + some harmonies, so it probably was closer to the studio version than to a live recording. I find this footage as being from "Top of the Pops" to be fairly suspect. The Beatles are obviously playing live here. But TOTP was NOTORIOUS for making bands lip sync to the original recorded/released/produced track. In 1967, about one year after this performance, a Syd Barrett led Pink Floyd had to mime "See Emily Play" (much to the band's chagrin). My guess is that this isn't from TOTP, but rather a different performance. If anyone has evidence that I'm mistaken, I'd LOVE to hear it! After all, I do want to believe that this IS the Fab Four at TOTP! :)
