      Someone applied some heavy stereo reverb with lots of pre-delay to make it sound extra-spacious. Reminds me of the crazy reverb that was applied to the U.S. version of “She’s A Woman” on the _Beatles ’65_ album…but even more so. (A few of you know what I’m talking about.)

      @@ahcapella That's true, and it's nice to hear the "cleaner" version mentioned above...but it does work to recreate the sonic quality of what one might have experienced being there...you know, the "big stadium" sound.

    • @ahcapella
      @ahcapella 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@CaptainAlsClassroom That’s true; it certainly has a big stadium sound. And it helps somewhat mask the (unfortunately) low sonic quality of this particular recording. (I’m assuming THIS is the recording Tony Barrow made on a portable cassette recorder, at Paul’s urging.) If everyone had known this would be The Beatles’ last live show (not counting the legendary rooftop appearance), I’m guessing arrangements would have been made to record it properly, with multiple mics, a mixing board and a half-inch 4-track reel-to-reel tape deck running at 15 ips.

      Yes, he was the heart of the Beatles, I don't care what anyone says, John, George, and Ringo were so lucky to have Paul in a band with them, he was such a talent and a performer, he has the whole package. It shows in this performance, in almost every song Paul is outshining the rest because his heart was in it. I feel bad for Paul, he probably never wanted to stop live performances, I bet he felt pressured by John and George to stop. I mean John and George had valid reasons to stop, but I feel Paul was born for the stage. He was denied for three years, three years during his prime as a performer to perform, it's like the Muhammed Ali story of being banned from fighting. It was not quite the same in the 69 performance on the roof. I always felt the Beatles should not have given up live performances in 66, they should have just not toured, maybe done a few TV shows live and one-off shows here and there, not full-blown tours. I felt the Beatles never went back on the road, was because of George. He didn't want to do anything post-66. He was just going through the motions. His heart was in India by that point

So although Paul was very important to Beatles, Lennon was equally important. Believe me, a band with only Paul, George and Ringo would be considered a boy band, not a rock band. Lennon gave Beatles credit in the rock world. That´s why he´s idolized by artists like Ozzy, Bowie, Mercury, Cobaine, Cooper, Mustaine, Lemmy, Gallagher etc.

      Ha ha. He's doing that thing he must have picked up from listening to George's classical Indian record collection (the penultimate long "ahhh" near the end of the guitar solo). It's a long descending raga-like scale, and he must have liked it so much that it stuck with him the whole summer, so he not only used it during the fade out to I Want To Tell You on the recent Revolver album ("...I've got ti -i-i-i-i-i-i-me..."), he also felt inspired to use it in the instrumental break here in George's other 1966 song. Whether it was pre-planned and had started making a regular thing of it whenever they played the song that summer, or it was a spontaneous thing that only happened here, I do not know. It would be really epic if was an unplanned thing. The last gig on Earth. Paul sings the high G during George's guitar solo and reveals his true nature. Transforming into an angel of white light, his Hofner violin bass falls to the stage floor and mcCartney slowly ascends to the heavens as pure energy.
      God-like 😉

    Okay. Clarifuckingcation time. Paul didn’t die before this show. Paul didn’t die after this show. As a matter of fact.... He’s still alive today. Ya know. Paul McCartney. The living original member of the Beatles who stayed in the Beatles for the entire length of their career. Time for me to clear up some dumb ass conspiracy theories. Paul McCartney let someone borrow his car for something and he ended up wrecking it on a harsh corner. He didn’t die either. That same weekend, Paul was riding a shitty road dirt bike and wrecked it by just suffering a couple bruises. Here’s another just in case you didn’t believe the first one I cleared up. On the day of the photo shoot for Abbey Road, they wanted all of the cars for the length of how long the picture can see. Only select people moved there cars and they had stuff to do later that day so they just had to get it done. The 28IF license plate was just a license plate. That’s it. Plus Paul was 27 at the time of the photo shoot. The reason Paul didn’t have shoes on is because he was wearing sandals (don’t believe me? look at outtakes from the shoot) and it was a hot day so he decided just to slip them off for the last photo. The reason behind they are out of step is just because they were. They chose that photo because John thought “I looked good.” PAUL IS ALIVE EVERYBODY!!!!

    Beatlemania lasted in the USA from January 64 to August 29, 1966 ending with this concert. When you look at how the Beatles looked and where they were musically in the summer of 63 and how they were 3 years later it's pretty unique. Compare it to Taylor Swift who is exactly the same in 2023 as she was in 2013, and nothing wrong with that.

    • @PalmdaleGal

      Beatlemania lasted far longer than 1966. I had Beatles album cover textbook covers when I was in high school (my mother worked at a factory in Burbank, CA that slowed admade the album covers and she brought home some of the laminated papers before they were glued to the cardboard). I graduated in 1969 and Beatlrmania was still alive and well in Los Angeles. BeatleFest events for decades after attest that Beatlemania slowed and matured, but has never ceased.
