As far as I understand it, the urban archery deer season is from Jan 2-31 and can shoot anything you still have a valid license for. Just keeping mind that some bucks will drop their antlers early and may be mistaken for a doe in January!!
When antler point restrictions first came out 20 some years ago I was all in but it didn't take long to realize that we were doing more harm than good, all of us that love deer hunting go to our stands with visions of taking a massive buck but antler point restrictions don't allow for the age class of buck we all dream of, people are taking 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old bucks with 3 on one side and leaving spikes to do the breading. If we adopt a one buck any buck mentality hunters will be forced to make a decision if he's hunting for antlers he'll have to decide if that young buck is big enough and those that just want meat can fill their tag and we'll have bucks make it to 3 1/2 or more years of age, 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 is what dreams are made of not 2 1/2 year old six pointers.

So basically 24 days of trigger pulling/rifle season? Out of a 3 month deer season. Real smart…… no wonder why there are no big bucks in this state. So dumb. Pushing us archery hunters right out of here. I can’t wait until next year when we are a 1 buck only state. Maybe the quality will come back.

The problems arise when you have a Democrat running something. We need a republican governor. The take was down 10% last year. And it will be down even more this year.
The hunter safety course is the biggest scam of the MDNR. There would be way more hunters in the woods if it didn't take 2 days in a classroom for a permission slip to buy a license.
So, you can basically hunt with a rifle for deer from 11/15 through the end of the year, in the LP, minus the 5-day break between regular firearm and ML season. Does only during the 12/16 - 1/1/2025 period. I bet Michigan STILL harvests way more bucks than does.
Can't afford to hunt anymore my lawyer wants $100 an hour to sit with me in the woods and his lawyer wants $200 an hour to make sure we don't break any rules
I wish they would give the first 2 or 3 weeks of october to bow hunters befor opening up to crossbows. Give bowhunters a chance befor the woods is crowded with all these crossbow hunters.
To many regulations the DNR has to much power they took the enjoyment out of hunting
So there is no longer a muzzleloader season in the lower… our dnr should be ashamed of themselves….this is total BS!!!!
