What blows me away is despite your prodigious skill and attention for and to detail you don't have the subscribers that your talent deserves.... Your videos are so informative and helpful with even the most basic but necessary shoes techniques. My grandfather taught me years ago that a man's pride was in the shine of his shoes. He was a legend to me with his skills at mirror shining but I can say without a doubt that your skills eclipse his by a considerable margin (I'm being really kind to him here). Mr. Sotto.... Thank you. Thanks for undertaking the responsibility to remind us of the need for basic grooming and how this can restore character. Wishing you every success brother.... From Pinetown, South Africa

Saddle soap is designed to remove horse grease from saddles (and other leather equipment that touches the horse such as harnesses or bridles). It’s really good at taking all sorts of nasty stuff off leather. We always cleaned our horse tack with it and then treated the leather with a good dose of Ko-cha-line to keep it nice and soft and flexible.

I'm a new sub that is really enjoying your content. I've been a devoted leather...caregiver? For years. But watching your work has given me a lot of info to take what I've done to the next level. This video was especially interesting because a couple years ago, I picked up a nice pair of military boots at a Goodwill $2 store. Just for background, if an item lands there, it's gone from start to finish at all area Goodwill stores (we don't have "The Bins" in my area), so it arrives at this store, for $2. And those boots were covered in mud, which helped to explain why I was looking them over for $2. What I saw were really nice, probably worn once boots then donated literally after that wearing. I took them home and took them straight to a sink. A good wash later (being careful to not soak the inside any more than necessary), and then a good conditioning, I sold them on ebay to a lady for her son for Christmas: for $79 plus full shipping. I recently intentionally picked up a pair of Ariats that look like yours did right after you removed the large clumps of dirt. I can't wait to get at 'em. Why is mail so slow?? 🙂

One wee fireplace surrounded with 15 pairs of boots each evening, the overalls and all the webbing, belts, straps and pouches, all had to be washed, Blancoed and brasses polished for inspection in the morning. By Jebus can I polish a shoe, Iron a pair of overalls so they have creases you could shave with.

    Hi Preston
I noticed while watching your video that the tongue of your right boot was leaning towards the side. I was wondering if you ever found a way of dealing with this. Personally I just received my first pair of leather boots and I’m having this problem where whenever I’m wearing it the tongue always slides to the right and although it’s not the worst thing in the world it is a bit annoying.

    As always, excellent.
Would you do a video with care and restore shoos for the cities where it rains a lot.
I can imagine there are more people like me that is that weather where we live in but we like and need to use dress shoes.
    Thanks

I need to find some boots like that. Those would look perfect with my kilts.

Do you recommend mink oil to put on shoes and boots?

what do you think of just rinsing and brushing under running water until the boot is clean? I have a wax application brush to saddle soap my boots under running water or with a big bowl of water. I like to treat my boots like a car. as more sand as more water and no sponge to not scratch the surface.
