    I love the Toyo AT3. Based on doing hundreds of sets of these tires, Toyo tires have always impressed me with their build quality and long lasting performance. Every time I’ve ever driven a vehicle with Toyo AT3s it’s been very comfortable and the handling is good and you can’t feel the tread. When balancing this tire I have always been impressed with how straight, and how consistently straight these tires spin and how little weight needed to balance them. I’ve also been very impressed with their ability wear out evenly with significantly less cupping, feathering, and other means of uneven wear compared to other tires. As well as the fact that it’s relatively light and looks cool too. By far my favorite tires to run on something like an SUV or Truck that commonly sees dirt and rocks and occasionally sees snow and rock crawling, while still behaving very well on dry road surfaces.

      I’ve had horrible experiences with Toyo tire tires. Wore uneven, became loud and the mileage was significantly less than the BFG’s. We have 4 service trucks that have ran both over the last few sets. Generals were better than the Toyo’s but the BFG’s wore better than them all.

    I just switched from worn out BFG K02s to Toyo Open Country. They were as much, actually more than I paid for the K02s. Also, they are performing MUCH better in every aspect so far, Snow/ice/wet and dry, MPGs, ride quality, all superior on the Toyo. I spent months researching, including watching videos on this channel and others about the best tire for my uses. I very rarely off road, but wanted something that could if I need it to. These Toyo OC AT3, best AT Tire by far for my needs. But I say again, they were far from cheap. 1400 after all was said and done installed.

    I've owned over a dozen trucks, multiple 1 ton and 3/4 /on duramax and cummins. Running both bfg and Falken on all. Tire weight was very noticeable on the tundra. Like a huge difference. Maybe not on the right suspension, but on an average build, it's definitely noticeable.

    • @EthosAtheos
      @EthosAtheos 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Un-sprung weight makes a huge difference at speeds above rock crawling. On a dirt road at speed a 10lb difference can be a big performance difference. It becomes more noticeable the lighter the vehicle and the longer the travel of the suspension. People don't talk enough about the weight of tires and rims for off road driving. It may be meaningless to the rock crawlers. But for driving on washboard roads it is a big consideration.

    Great vid! I went with 33" Load C Toyo RT Trails on my GX. After 7k miles and a winter, they're awesome. They're quite light compared to a lot of other tires in the same size. Deep snow is awesome, compacted snow isn't fantastic, but good enough for my vehicle and experience. Off-road and dry is amazing.

    Really interested to get a review of the new Duratrac RT. The OG Duratrac's big issue was weak sidewalls, which has apparently been fixed, so may now be a decent competitor to AT4W/KO3.

      how weak the duratrac at are? Because I've been using 6 ply rating with 2 ply sidewalls muddies (linglong tyre) carrying 1700++ of produce from the depth of Borneo to the nearest town that have paved road with no issue regarding sidewall puncture.

    • @kobayashimaru8114
      @kobayashimaru8114 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gonsungar9420 Honestly, I think the weak sidewall thing is something that's just regurgitated by everyone who reviews them with very few actually having experienced a problem. I'm on my second set and it's never been an issue. In fact, I think it's a pro on the street.
      I don't go wheelin a ton but where I do go is definitely rocky with opportunity to puncture. I also load up the truck pretty good and tow an enclosed trailer.
      I'm curious about the new Duratrac's performance because it looks like they've gone with a slightly tamer tread than the original.

      I had liked the Duratrac’s on my 1500 Ram. One day I was dropping off a 31ft camper that we had rented, and when I went to air down the tires for the ride home I noticed a big bulge in the front right sidewall. Sold the remaining 3 tires the next day. It has KO2’s now, but mostly because they come in 34’s.

    I am running 35" Falken RTs on my 23 Tundra 1794 Hybrid. I had the Yokohama X-ATs on for a bit but the wheel setup caused the tires to rub +40mm) and then I discovered the RTs so I switched (+20mm). X-ATs are a great tire but for winter driving you should consider snows to supplement them.
    Anyway I wish the AT4W was available when I bought the RTs bc of their weight however I suspect its not a big difference.
    My Tundra with a 3" lift and 35s (stock beyond that apart from a bed cover) gets 14 mpg so I may look at the KO3s as my spring summer tire and then use the RTs in later fall and winter. Or sell the lot and run AT4Ws year round. I am looking to move to CO or ID so I need a good tire for those climates.

    I have 100k miles on my Baja boss at. 7000 pound Denali and tow often. This tire has been phenomenal in everything I’ve thrown at it. My only issue is I wish they’d make a 8 ply for a happy medium to fit my needs. 10 ply is great but it’s a little much for my needs. It’s currently at 5/32s tread left. I’ve been looking at the at4w and ko3 for a 8 ply option. I try to keep this truck out of mud as much as possible. Have only had to 3 times in about 4 years and this tire has been the best I’ve ran. I wasn’t happy with the Toyo at3. Started chipping away pretty bad and dry rotting in a year.

I live in Arizona and want to build it for desert off-roading, and as my daily driver. No one has had the opportunity to 3D scan the vehicle for 3rd party accessories, so I probably won't be able to choose tires until I know what sort of alterations will be required to fit 35's. Another great video. Really appreciate your channel and information. I’m currently running the Mickey Thompson BB ATs- 37 inch on my gladiator. Awesome tire, super durable, etc. etc. My only gripe but it’s a big one is that even at lower tire pressures the ride is extremely rough. By the time I get the pressure low enough to smooth the ride, I’ve lost ride height and clearance. I’m thinking maybe going with the BFGKO3 when it comes out or potentially the Patagonia MTO2’s.

    I have a 2020 AWD Ford Transit (3.5L Eco Boost) campervan fully loaded at ~9000lbs. Running BFG K02’s 245/75/16 E rated on method rims. We do a lot of snow driving to western ski areas and in summer many miles on Sierra Nevada forest service roads - in summer I typically air down to 25-30psi for washboard but have never aired down when winter driving. My current KO2s have 35k miles and already need to be replaced - they have performed really well for us. Given the fast reduction in tread wear do you recommend we switch over to the Falcon Wildpeak vs KO2/3?

    I just purchased the new Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail. These replaced the Nitto Ridge Grappler. The Nitto tires were one of the worst tires I have ever used. Great on gravel roads and you can put a ton of miles on them, but the wet and snow traction is horrible. I had them break loose while passing a car on wet roads. So far the Coopers have been outstanding. Definitely more of an on-road versus an off-road tire, but I think they will be the perfect choice for someone that deals mostly with dry, wet and snow covered roads and do the occasional off-roading. I don't think they will be that good in the mud.

    Thanks for the review, I’ve been in limbo on choosing a tire and size, my new ram 1500 limited has 22 inch rims and lame Perelli all season street tires, looks like car tires.
    I can’t seem to come to a decision on getting a 20 inch rim and tire Pkg or using the 22 rim and putting on a 285/50/22…… or the stock size. 285/45…
    Trying to fill the wheel well slightly better, and I do 90/10 city. I think some more aggressive tires would do the trick, but I don’t know if you want to have a larger diameter from stock?? My First truck.
    The air suspension on the truck limits me from doing anything crazy with the suspension, I won’t mess with it.
    Go down to 20’s and up the sidewall a bit back to the stock diameter? Or keep 22 and go slightly bigger.

      From what I understand, General ATxs dont come in 3-ply sidewall. I run the E-rated on my Taco. The benefit to them though with sidewall is they are a massively thick 2-ply sidewall. 8.5mm thick compared to the 9.5mm thickness of the KO2 3-ply sidewall.
