If you ever decide to watch Yu Yu Hakusho, it's one of the few anime where you 100% have to watch it dubbed. It's pure 90s.

I highly recommend watching Yu Yu Hakusho. But, I do warn that it has a slow start. But it is definitely well worth it. And surprisingly, it's one of the few anime with a great dub.

I second this recommendation. The English cast is top notch, and it stays faithful to the original script as much as possible. It's such an under-rated shonen anime.
@@tona4x7 I watched the sub and it was fine. I did however tried the english dub and Kuwabara sounds like a 50 year old chain smoker vs the 25 year old chainsmoker in the og japanese version. And to think, that guy is suppose to be in high school.

The adult baby at the start is Koenma. He was introduced in his baby form, but later on he does have an adult form. With that said, it's weird that they decided to reveal this form very early on in the live action
Well how exactly are they going to show a live action baby and manage to give it off authoritative feeling without just being....weird. forget funny. Meanwhile, I can totally get behind this. Koenma is my favorite character and I LOVE his baby form. I think they did a good job.
Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the best shonens ever ❤❤❤❤. Togashi (the creator) has a freaking awesome creativity in creating worlds and scenarios. Is the same one of Hunter x Hunter

YuYu Hakusho is one of my all time favorite animes that I have watched numerous times and has some of the best villains and fight sequences for its time. The Dark Tournament arc is considered one of the best in all of anime. I would highly recommend watching it.
I was a little weirded out by adult form Koenma with the pacifier, but I guess they wanted to spend the special effects budget somewhere other than a making a talking baby. I get that. As long as they don't f up Genkai, I'll be happy.
The only reason why I trusted one piece live action was going to work was because Oda himself was heavily involved and I trusted oda and not Netflix

As a huge Yu Yu Hakusho fan, I'm not feeling it at all. It feels way too serious.
They made enma jr an adult from the start because Japan always focus on hiring the most handsome actors and that's what hold so many movies back. Even their acting is mid because they try too hard to be cool rather than act like a person would act in a given situation. This whole trailer doesn't showcase the story of you Yu Hakusho it showcases handsome actors cosplaying. And I'm pretty sure they will all have no personality.

Yu Yu Hakushos' anime is 1 of the "best" adaptations of 1 of the "best" battle shonen imo & I'd rather they don't replace it. As a fan this doesn't look "bad" imo & since it seems to be a Japanese production it means it'll be (or at least attempt to be) way more faithful to the source compared to most western adaptations. Tho it my try to be "TOO faithful" I'd rather that Than thinkin u could do "better" without the og creators' guidance which isn't happenin wit togashi. Watch the anime it's "amazin" & I hope this turns out positively as a fan

As a filipino, Yu Yu Hakusho will always be titled Ghost Fighter to me and the characters name will always be Eugene, Alfred, Dennis, Vincent, Master Jericho, Charlene etc.

I am asian,as one of the anime fans who grew up in the 80s/90s, I'm excited to see the live action version of Yuyu Hakusho, as long as the characters and storyline follow the original anime version, besides that there is no interference from Hollywood and no actors who play characters other than the original Japanese people. one peace, death note and dragon ball is the masterpiece who destroy by those American version..
I just got done watching it in I hated the fact that it was only five episodes and a rush through a lot of the story. Plus I'm not asking for much but they could have at least given us at least 14 episodes

Dude, there's a reason You Yu Hakusho is compared to DBZ. It's a 90s classic. If anything, watch episode 1 of the anime, it contains a lot of elements that make the series great (aside from the cool action, that comes a bit later).
Also, much like DBZ and Cowboy Bebop, the dub is better. I know a lot of people prefer sub for anime but, this is one I'd highly suggest watching the dub for, it legit has a drunk Australian demon.
Kuwabara's voice will grow on you.

No, it's only up to the Yukina Rescue Arc, as we can see in the teaser. The difference is just that they included the whole Toguro Team here instead of just the Toguro Bros, probably to establish the rivalries between each characters and to make it a rematch when they get to the Dark Tournament in S2

Please nick I can’t begin to explain how fun of a watch this show is. Like everyone else in the comments are saying, the dub is outstanding and in my opinion adds so much 90’s charm to the show. This show has one of the strongest main casts I’ve ever seen, to the point where most of my enjoyment comes from them just bouncing off each other, which makes even the early less interesting arcs really enjoyable to watch still.

It's easier to make live action last airbender because of how Michael dante created the movements for the cartoon, he traveled and learned martial arts as inspiration for avatar, they can easily bring those moves into live action, also avatar the last airbender is less cringe than anime so it's easier to make it feel more real in live action, also avatar has no need for weird wigs because the characters hairstyles are doable in real life.
maybe because Yuyu Hakuso's theme is with spirit & ghost they make it so dark & gloomy
but in Anime it's fun (but slow pace in storyline progress), I mean.... Yuyu Hakuso & HxH are made by the same person

So yes this series is dark comedy but edges toward serious while mostly being middle of the road between dark and light.
Koenma ALWAYS has his Binki in his mouth as that is a part of the characters lore Its meant serious but Yusuke roasts him over it every so often.

The trailer didn't hit for me but I still want to give it a chance. With the MC they seemed to make him more serious and the grown man who is supposed to be a baby. Definitely check out Yu Yu Hakusho anime.
You can’t really judge Yusukes character in this live action off of a minute long trailer, and it would be ridiculous if they made Koenma a baby in the live action, it would probably be very expensive and it would look terrible. Using the older version of Koenma just makes a lot more sense.

Honestly as a major fan of YYH, this looks terrible. Just from the teaser, it looks like they're skipping really important details in order to save time to compact the first season into 10 episodes. There's nothing here about Yusuke's trial, which by Koenma's wording seems like they're bypassing that. So how does Puu come into play? Showing Toguro's first contact with Sakyo means they're probably skipping the black black arc. So where's Yukina? Without Yukina you don't have a set up for Hei's backstory, and if they go into that it'll be really awkward because the foundation hasn't been laid out. Why is Bui and Karasu showing up for a fight this early?
Honestly, I hope that I'm wrong because it is just a teaser and I want to enjoy the show for what it is. I just don't think it's going to happen.

2nd, no, they're not doing Dark Tournament. S1 is only up to Yukina Rescue arc. The difference is that they introduced the rest of the Toguro Team early on to establish the rivalries between each character and to have that rematch in the Dark Tournament. End of S1 will probably be Toguro suddenly appearing again in front of Yusuke aftr they've thought that they've defeated him, and inviting Yusuke to the Dark Tournament (for S2)
Also, there's another teaser after this but it was only shown in Netflix JP channel and on Twitter. It showed a lot more scenes and action that are not in the international trailer

I would disagree with you. It is better than first 25 episodes of one piece though. I did not need to struggle with Yu Yu Hakusho. I struggled to get through first 25 ep of one piece.(took me 3 tries if I remember correctly) I would say Yu Yu Hakusho is way better than hunterxhunter though.

I love Yu Yu Hakusho, don't like this trailer much. I have a feeling the live action won't turn out good. Why couldn't they just reanimated the series? When an OVA for the 15th anniversary came out us fans got a taste of what YYH would look like with more modern animation and it was amazing. Ever since I have wanted the series to get reanimated.
