Hey, don't feel bad about not learning about this sooner. I'm 77 years old and raised on a farm in southern Illinois (moved out of IL back in 1978 and currently live in Florida for the past 18 years) and I never heard of it until seeing your video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Andrew if you ever get fleas in the house when the dogs come in this works to. Just at dark when you turn out the lights put a shallow 12" x12" cake pan under wall outlet with a small nite light add a 1" of water to the pan and about 6 or 8 drops of dish soap soap breaks the surface tension so the flea sink and drown the nite light attracts them. Put a pan and lite in each room you have a pan of dead fleas you have to leave the pans out long anuff to break the egg cycle if you didnt catch them quick anuff think 2 to 4 week on egg cycle . i have dogs they never bothered the pans just keep eye on dogs. told this to a lot of friends they had great luck too.
Hi Andrew, once you've got rid of them, plant wormwood all around your patio area. It gives off a sense that most flying insects don't like and we cannot smell it. I had the same problem, planted that and have had no more in my covered patio area all summer.
Yep, the soap mix works great! I've been using it for years. My experience has been any liquid soap will work. I've used old car wash soap that had been sitting around for a few years. I use a heavier mix than you, maybe a cup of soap per gallon of water. Overkill perhaps but it's cheap. I fill the jug with water first then add the soap and shake. I find I get mostly suds if I add the water to the soap. When I spray, I really flood the nest and wasps. Be generous with the spray; it's cheap! It's amazing how quickly and effectivly the mix works! Thanks for posting.
Great video Andrew. For your viewers always add water first and then the chemical wherever you put into the sprayer second, so you stop the foaming action. That same mixture of water and soap is great for a clean your plants of the bug's fecal matter off the plants.
Fantastic comparison, always love to use the non-toxic solutions whenever I can especially around the home with kids and pets running around! Gonna email you in a bit about portable power supplies and portable solar panels recommendations. Have a great weekend!
Also saw this before (regarding the adding of pure peppermint oil). Plus it smells nice. Wasp Spray (homemade) one spray bottle of water 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Dawn dishwashing liquid (dish soap neutralizes the wasp) 10 drops (for a spray bottle) of pure peppermint oil. Use plenty. Can be bought at Trader Joes etc. There are about 450 drops in one ounce.
A pressure washer with foam cannon works well and reaches nests that are up high without the need for a ladder. I have used it to flood a yellow jackets nest around tomatoes plants as well.
You hit the point I was going to make, treat the nests after sundown or before sunrise, when the entire family is on the nest...a cooler morning or evening is even better as they will be less likely to fly away before getting soaked. Also, if you use warm water when you are mixing, your soap will mix faster and more thoroughly.
Ground nests have been my issue. I mix dish soap with a gallon of vinegar in a bucket and douse the ground with the entire bucket. Works very well. To prevent wasps in a small space like under the lid of the propane tank I put a sleeve of mothballs in that area. They don’t like the smell and that also works well. I put a fresh sleeve in the desired area every spring.
My grandfather taught me this a few years ago. I told him he was crazy. He responded with “you shouldn’t talk about what you don’t know about”. I just use a squirt of dish soap mixed in an open cup and throw it up onto the nest. Almost Instant death. It’s all I use around the house now.
I've used this method and the gasoline method, I saw my Grandfather use these methods since I was 5. I need to try and see if this works as well on ants since ants also breathe through their exoskeleton effective suffocating them. Oh, you answered that question towards the end, thank you LOL
That would work really well in the squirt gun my mom battles the squirrels with when they are in her potted plants on the deck. Its a pump action kind of thing but just does one big squirt instead of a building up pressure in a tank.
Next time add the water then the soap and it won’t foam up but will still mix just fine under pressure. Or you can shake it around after to mix it faster.
Around the turn of the century people used to paint their porch ceilings light blue. Apparently the color mimics the sky and wasps are much less likely to nest there. It has worked very well for us on the lake in the Tampa Bay area. Try painting those wood surfaces sky blue! Good luck. BTW, your soap mixture also works well on your plants and beds. My grandmother used to spread Borax in her garden.
I wonder if the canned chemical stuff is banned in other countries. I feel as if America is number 1 in so much good, but we're also high on the list for putting government and large conglomerates first. You're 100% right about the chemical companies not wanting us to know about this, but if it ever catches on, they'll twist the marketing to get us on something else! Great video!
Next time you can put the soap in the pressure washer soap tank and turn it to soap setting. It has more range than the little sprayer. I hit the overhang of my 2 story house that way. The less poison around the house the better!
This looks like a great excuse to get a Super Soaker squirt gun so you don't have to use the ladder for the high parts! We have super tough paper wasps in AZ, not only did the soap not work that black can didn't either. Spectracide pro wasp and hornet killer is the only thing that would knock em down. Would definitely prefer soapy water when it works that well!
Years ago we lived at the Gulf Coast. Fire ants and wasps everywhere. A buddy that does extermination work told us about Dawn dish liquid and water. They spray everything with an exoskeleton and it works great. And best of all, CHEAP. He sparys his yard with it and hits ant hills heavy. So Yes. This works.
Have you tried hanging a Walmart plastic bag full of plastic bags from the ceiling of your porch? It keeps wasps and bees from making nests at my house. They think there is already a wasp nest there and don’t build near it.
I dislike to the nth power fruit flies...from bananas, citrus, etc. They always seem to come in with fruit from the grocery store. I don't know why I tried it, but I put sudsy ammonia in a spray bottle and with it on the misting setting, it knocked down the fruit flies even better than the soapy water did the wasps. Of course, I had to vacate the area...but the dang fruit flies were goners.
You owe Shane one, and the rest of us as well!! Next time just make sure to cover yourself when dealing with the red ones, allergy reactions can be nasty.

Hi Andrew, I have done the same myself for wasps and it works, I also use dish soap and vinegar mixed together to kill weeds. Good video!! 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
I also use vinegar and dish soap and found it to be very effective.
I have tried the vinegar, I should add some soap and try again.

Interesting, thanks!
I've got a feeling this video will hit a million views,👍
I wish it would, I need another one of those.

Thank you for showing us this ! 😀👏 will use it for sure . Always great to have non toxic things that work !
Thanks for watching

It sure does work well.

Good to know
I use a similar mixture with blue dawn and spray it on the walls and ceilings of open sheds as a preventive measure.
I always do the water part first, then add any soap - same as when I'm mopping the floors
Yes: little or no suds, fuller bottle.
It does work I’ve been using dish soap and water for around 30 years , but I’ve never put it in a pump up sprayer great idea
I was happy with the results.
Fantastic comparison, always love to use the non-toxic solutions whenever I can especially around the home with kids and pets running around!

I will go through my emails in the morning. Thanks for watching

Hi Andrew, I have used it to kill roaches and ants from a small spray bottle. Now I can get a pump sprayer setup for outdoor use. Thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it.
I've never heard of this before. I can't believe those results! Thanks for sharing!
It works very well
Love the video. We use Gasoline, not sure if it will stain anything but kills instantly.
I feel dumbfounded by this as well. How did we not know this? Big Chem! Boy, am I going to have fun with this.
I know, 40 years old and just now learning this.
off topic but works. Cut a fresh lemon and rub on black mold for removal. Will not discolor and removes it.
Nice!

Nice!
Oh my god, this is a true revelation!!! We've got problems with both wasps AND ants. Can't wait to make up a batch and get to sprayin!
Let me know how it works for you
Great video. Love the channel and content 😊
Good to know. Thanks.
What a simple fix to a big problem. Great information.
I love it!
Yeah that pretty much works on everything and you can use it on your plants and your vegetable gardens and your fruit trees
This works great for garden pests too. Like squash bugs, aphids, etc. I’ve used it for years!
That's what I am hearing.
Thanks for the tips
I'd be re-squirting the moving ones on the floor. I'm going to make darn sure they are goners. 😊
LOL I didn't have any get up and fly away.
Andrew I’m 73 years old and I have never heard of this. Thanks for sharing…
I was shocked to learn it myself.

Thankfully we don't have many ground nesting wasps here.
My grandfather taught me this a few years ago. I told him he was crazy. He responded with “you shouldn’t talk about what you don’t know about”.
I just use a squirt of dish soap mixed in an open cup and throw it up onto the nest. Almost Instant death. It’s all I use around the house now.
I used a pump sprayer like you for decades. The Milwaukee 2 gallon sprayer is like a fire hose on setting 3. You should get the Dewalt one and try it.
I got a battery powered Vevor one and love it.
You should add rubbing alcohol too, that will make the soap foam even more
I've used this method and the gasoline method, I saw my Grandfather use these methods since I was 5. I need to try and see if this works as well on ants since ants also breathe through their exoskeleton effective suffocating them. Oh, you answered that question towards the end, thank you LOL
Worked very well.
If you add some (a drop or three) pepper mint extract, it will keep them from recognizing the hive. Yes, I have done that for years now.
Thanks
That would work really well in the squirt gun my mom battles the squirrels with when they are in her potted plants on the deck. Its a pump action kind of thing but just does one big squirt instead of a building up pressure in a tank.
I can see that working.
And another one bites the dust!
Sure did
Next time add the water then the soap and it won’t foam up but will still mix just fine under pressure. Or you can shake it around after to mix it faster.
Awesome!! I never heard of this. I am definitely gonna try it.
Works great
I use a hand held trigger type sprayer, shoots further than the pressure tank style
First thing I thought about was a good supersoaker! I need a black widow mix please…

I've heard that myself.
I will 2nd the painting your porch ceilings a very pale blue. Lived in TX for nearly 15 yrs and never had a wasp nest in porches or eaves.
ants too. I am from Illinois but now live in Northern Minnesota? M
Yes it works well on roaches and ants
I think I would spray the nest a little longer. It does work awesome.
I’m going to have to get a pump sprayer now. Looks like it gets good distance. Thank you
Yes it does, I can actually spray up to 16ft.
I use the same solution (Dawn dish soap and water) on squash bugs in my garden.
Nice and safe
I've been using dawn, soap and water for years, mix 1 oz of soap to one gallon of water.
It sure seems to be more about the money than your safety.
Next time you can put the soap in the pressure washer soap tank and turn it to soap setting. It has more range than the little sprayer. I hit the overhang of my 2 story house that way.
The less poison around the house the better!
Thanks
Good too tip, will try this out. Thanks 👍
Enjoy!
Hey Andrew, don’t forget to knock the nest down too. That can cause more to come.
Correct
Thanks, Andrew!
Thanks for watching
if ya put the water in first it wont foam up so bad till ya mix or shake it !
WOW just recently emptied that good spray with the long spray, now I'll just put some Dawn in my Ryobi sprayer
It works so well.
Great and well made video!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Windex is the best roach killer I've ever seen. I've been spaying my lawn with dish soap for years but never tried it on wasps.
Windex works great on roaches and fire ants too! "Put some Windex on it!"~Gus Portokalus ..Big Fat Greek Wedding. lol
Good to know
Super Soaker x1000!!! 😂 I have heard using dish soap on outdoor shrubs.
Those are Florida Tropical Tourists birds. 😊
LOL
Man I've never heard of this. Just awesome
Glad you enjoyed it
@@TKCL Gonna try it myself. Have been stung by multiple red wasps in my time. They all need to go.
Wow, you must have some tough wasps.
Wow thats great!.

So Yes. This works.
have to try that one for sure
It works
Can you put the water in first then the soap?
Possibly, this was my first time.
@@TKCL I tell you it put a whipping on those wasp
Add the soap to your pressure washer with a zero degree nozzle. No ladder needed.
Good day to all, peace. "NEED TO, KNOW"!! Add 2 Tbsp of Rubbing Alcohol to the water and sope.
What about the carpenter bees? Spray the wood with the soap mixture? My bee box traps have about gotten rid of my infestation.
Not sure this would leave any kind of residual effect.
Good to know I’m gonna try it on some fire ants mounds in my yard .
Let me know
Have you tried hanging a Walmart plastic bag full of plastic bags from the ceiling of your porch? It keeps wasps and bees from making nests at my house. They think there is already a wasp nest there and don’t build near it.
I have heard about this and need to try it.
Dirt Dobbers shake it off pretty easy. But I’ve been using Dawn on wasps for a long time.
dirt dobbers are less likely to sting. might as well leave them alone.
I dislike to the nth power fruit flies...from bananas, citrus, etc. They always seem to come in with fruit from the grocery store. Hmm 🤔🤔 I wonder if it works on dillers 🤔🤔🤔🤷🏽♂️
Hmmmm
Hit them on the nest, hit them on the ground. Just remember to always double tap, just like the rule in Zombieland 😂😂
Lol
did you find any wasp larvae on sidewalk later that day ?
Yes I did
Honestly thought this was sponsored content and almost skipped lol glad I didn’t thank you
LOL not at all.
Soapy water kills aphids and squash bugs etc..The squash bugs you need to knock into a cup of soapy water.
Good to know
Soap - it's not just for cleaning. I have used the same for years on aphid infestations, gonna try it on ants now....I'm overrun!
Go for it
It also works for ants...
Sure does
"Watch now, before this video gets taken down." It's a shame we been rubed all these years.
You owe Shane one, and the rest of us as well!! Next time just make sure to cover yourself when dealing with the red ones, allergy reactions can be nasty.
I swell up really bad with those.
I tend to leave them alone, as they're beneficial in other ways, but yeah, if they start harassing me it's game on.
They absolutely bother us and guests in the porch.
Daniel, I know this seems obvious, but next time put your water in first then add soap and shake
Now try water only…. 😆
Negative
😬😬😬😬😬
Prolly just one of them conspiracy theories. Why would companies tell you about something so easy and cheap? Why... M O N E Y, that's why.
Agreed
Do Dogs Eat Wasps & is it harmful?
Mine don't touch them
they cant see they have soap in they eyes ,lol
everybody alergic to Dark Red wasp (Paper wasp) 1 sting make whole arm hurt
Them ants aint dead they taking a Bath ,hahaha , Nice video
Lol
Haha Them Baby Wasp aint even learn to fly yet,,🙂
Soap isnt a Chemical?
It's a safe one compared to that junk spray.
