Thank you! This has been a really hard year for many different reasons. I would call it our worst yet. BUT, we are in our happy place and there is much joy to be found still!
When i figured out to knit, i put my crochet hooks down 😂...and i crocheted stuff like doilies made from thread(was best of show at the county fair, in fact). I dont really miss it because i find knitting is more in line with what i want to make (socks, hats, ect). LOVE those pricey yarns, so worth the money to knit with alpaca or merino wool. I have totally fired Red Heart and Lion brand yarns....gasp....ive become a yarn snob!!😅 Ill have to run up to Whitefish and check that yarn shop out next time I'm in town! So happy your log cabin is on the horizon. Dream come true!!❤
I have been the same way for the most part. I do like to crochet amigurumi every now and again. But that's the only crochet you're going to catch me doing. I just love knitting. Have you purchased from Montana Crochet? She dyes amazing yarn as well. She's over by Great Falls I think, but does not have a storefront. I buy mostly from her and Polka Dot Sheep but also have Three by the Sea, Arcane Fiberworks, Needles at the Ready, Area 51 Fibres, etc.. Thank you...we are very excited about the cabin!

I saved this video for a day I might need a friend. Today was that day. Thank you so much for the friendly, adorable peek into your studio and update. I wrap my soap in glassine bags, very similar to your paper. I might look into sheets. My grandma taught me how to knit when I was a very young girl, and I made the cutest socks. I would like to try it again, where do you get your patterns? Did you take a refresher course on-line? Thanks again for the chat ❤
I am glad I could be your friend and spend some time with you! I have done the glassine bags too. I like how the paper folds up better (I figured out how I used to do it later off video and it's much better now) and makes neater edges for packaging. That's just a personal preference though. I used to package some soaps in kraft bags as well but those were super stiff and took up way more room in the box than it should have. The bags are still much easier to use. I LOVE & ADORE The Crazy Sock Lady. You can watch her videos and follow along and also buy many of her patterns. I still have only done vanilla socks on 9 inch circulars but have learned to use magic loop from the portions of the sock making that still require that extra wire. Kay also has Vlogmas so you might want to sit and spend some time with her as well. She's a lovely person.

It's past 1 am here in the UK, & I am only half way through the video, but had to jump into the comments. I have my own sort of language too, (I call it my 'lungage'),. Me & my partner have such a love of words ('wurbs') & really enjoy altering them on purpose, (on 'berbuss'), just for fun of the sounds & sometimes mental imagery. Legs are 'lebs', eye balls are 'eye bulbs' & we don't hear things we 'ear' them. That's just a few 🤭

I just really love how simple your soap labels are. I’ve really been trying to figure out how I wanted to wrap them. I though about the bands and I just don’t know. I wrap my melt and pour in coffee filters which I love but the square soaps are harder to figure out.
Thank you! I have done bands here and there and they are such a pain! The easiest version for me was when just using a label version on a soap box. But even then, it was such a pain to match up all the sides.
Yea I worry about the soap being naked like that for longer periods of time too. Like they could get dented or damaged or fade - all the things. @@moriversoap
Hey Holly, I am also a knitter. My number one favorite channel is Purl Together. Jana is a down-to-earth lady that lives on a farm in the wilds of Wyoming. We’ve been getting together as a small group in Utah the first weekend in October where we have a lot of fun and do a little knitting.
Whitefish ( for those who don’t know ) is awesome, it’s mostly a tourist attraction with lots of adorable shops. Theres also Whitefish Lake that’s really stunning.
I love Whitefish! They have the best Christmas lights downtown. We go up there every now and again for Piggyback BBQ. It's hard to find good BBQ when you're from KC BBQ but they do a dang good job!
Setting up shop and getting all the supplies is a Chore in itself. I know you like to be organized and it seems as its all coming back together one step at a time. Its a Lot of work prepping. I can say hands down, best Soap, Best wax melts. you've got this. :)

I love the Albanach Knitter you get to see the wonderful Scottish islanders were he lives and works with the Church plus chatting about what he is knitting. Your cabin sounds wonderful and I know now why I love your personality you do appreciate your upbringing it was probably better than those who lived in mansions.

I think that's true. When a house is too big, you can go to your corners and not see each other. We experienced that in the old house. We have done really well in the fifth wheel but having the workshop and a warm space to us to spend time in is very refreshing. The cabin is going to be just the right size I think! The pattern is from Ysolda and it's called the Musselburgh. When you get the pattern, you also can use the Excel sheet they designed to figure out what size you should make the hat based on preferences and your gauge. It's so awesome! I swear I think us soapmakers are all kind of alike in personality at some point :) Every time you'd pause and mention something like how it's snowing or a loud noise I'd chuckle cause I would do the same. This was a very nice chat and I enjoyed it! I hate to hear that there are a few struggles, though it is a way of life and sometimes it works out the way it needs to :) May all of your struggles return tenfold in successes! Best of luck to you. Last time we moved we downsized to just over 1600 ft.². We had three young girls, and it worked out very well. Now they’re all married and have homes of their own and this house is just perfect for the two of usand we can definitely fit our children and their children in the house for a very nice family get together. You’ll do well. And are you ever fortunate to have a lovely neighbor.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that experience of being sued but at the same time, I am relieved that it wasn't some tragic event that happened with your family. I was concerned and I am glad to hear it wasn't that. Being a former police officer, I can vouch for the fact that it is just a game with attorneys when they enter the court room. During my trainings, we would have attorneys come in and speak to us and they would tell us that its just a game to them. Anyhow, I love your videos. It's like I am sitting right with you and drinking my coffee while I listen. I am keeping an eye on your shop so I can make a purchase. 🙂

I'm so sorry for your loss. Having a new project that excites you will help heal your heart. I don't have much for tutorials and I'm out of the loop with the other makers. But I do think Katie has a beginners series. Brambleberry/The Soap Queen also has a beginner series but it's pretty old at this point. Check out Lovin Soap and The Nerdy Farmwife as well.

Currently Costco is less expensive than paying shipping with the suppliers. Olive Oil has significantly raised in price and Costco is still the best for me.
I haven't made steamers without menthol. I am in the Cada molds group and if you search the steamers and read comments, there have been some tips and tricks for making them without menthol.

I just really love how simple your soap labels are. I’ve really been trying to figure out how I wanted to wrap them. I though about the bands and I just don’t know. I wrap my melt and pour in coffee filters which I love but the square soaps are harder to figure out.
Thank you! I have done bands here and there and they are such a pain! The easiest version for me was when just using a label version on a soap box. But even then, it was such a pain to match up all the sides.
Yea I worry about the soap being naked like that for longer periods of time too. Like they could get dented or damaged or fade - all the things. @@moriversoap

Whitefish ( for those who don’t know )
is awesome, it’s mostly a tourist attraction with lots of adorable shops.
Theres also Whitefish Lake that’s really stunning.
I love Whitefish! They have the best Christmas lights downtown. We go up there every now and again for Piggyback BBQ. It's hard to find good BBQ when you're from KC BBQ but they do a dang good job!
Big Mountain just opened last week and I can't wait to take the Jeep up there to check out the buzz!

I love the Albanach Knitter you get to see the wonderful Scottish islanders were he lives and works with the Church plus chatting about what he is knitting. It’s very peaceful and heartwarming and even though I do not have religious beliefs anymore it doesn’t matter. I love you too you both like Ellen Ruth make one feel like you’re there with you. I think that's true. When a house is too big, you can go to your corners and not see each other. We experienced that in the old house. We have done really well in the fifth wheel but having the workshop and a warm space to us to spend time in is very refreshing. The cabin is going to be just the right size I think!
The pattern is from Ysolda and it's called the Musselburgh. When you get the pattern, you also can use the Excel sheet they designed to figure out what size you should make the hat based on preferences and your gauge. It's so awesome! I swear I think us soapmakers are all kind of alike in personality at some point :) Every time you'd pause and mention something like how it's snowing or a loud noise I'd chuckle cause I would do the same. This was a very nice chat and I enjoyed it! I hate to hear that there are a few struggles, though it is a way of life and sometimes it works out the way it needs to :) May all of your struggles return tenfold in successes! Best of luck to you. Last time we moved we downsized to just over 1600 ft.². We had three young girls, and it worked out very well. Now they’re all married and have homes of their own and this house is just perfect for the two of usand we can definitely fit our children and their children in the house for a very nice family get together. You’ll do well. And are you ever fortunate to have a lovely neighbor.

If you have a ups store near you they have an option where you can get deliveries dropped there and then you can pick them up. I'm not sure how much that costs
We did end up getting a UPS store mail box. It has helped a lot. We still have billing issues because this is our billing address.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that experience of being sued but at the same time, I am relieved that it wasn't some tragic event that happened with your family. I was concerned and I am glad to hear it wasn't that. Being a former police officer, I can vouch for the fact that it is just a game with attorneys when they enter the court room. During my trainings, we would have attorneys come in and speak to us and they would tell us that its just a game to them. Anyhow, I love your videos. It's like I am sitting right with you and drinking my coffee while I listen. I am keeping an eye on your shop so I can make a purchase. 🙂

Currently Costco is less expensive than paying shipping with the suppliers. Olive Oil has significantly raised in price and Costco is still the best for me.

I haven't made steamers without menthol. I am in the Cada molds group and if you search the steamers and read comments, there have been some tips and tricks for making them without menthol.

What happened to your boxes from before?
I changed my bar size so the boxes no longer work. I found some that I liked this year that would work, but they were entirely too expensive.
