Dear Lois, I came across your TH-cam yesterday by chance and am thrilled by this intuitive technique of watercolour painting! It is almost like a Buddhist meditation: letting things happen in a creative way....I love these pictures! They let the viewer finish thinking about the scene....wonderful...Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I will try it out too.
Thank you Lois, for your inspirational videos! Loose, abstract landscapes really make my heart sing! I’ve painted a few from your videos and people love them and so do I! So glad I found you!
Dear Lois, sometimes I just turn your vids on to listen to your calming voice as I putz around my daily life. And every now and then I look at my phone screen to see what wonders you are creating from your palette. Other times, I come to your page for your wisdom on how to tackle a watercolor challenge I am having, and I always learn something. Such a lovely channel. Thank you for sharing!
What a gorgeous painting! Your skies are always spectacular. I especially enjoyed it the instructional monologue at the end where you summarized, repeated and elaborated on your style of painting. Thank you for sharing. 💙🌵
Thank you for demonstrating some of the beautiful effects that this medium offers. I gasped at the dark colors you laid down at first 😲 and then was surprised at how it dried much lighter. I live by the ocean and love seeing the occasional diffusion of rain low on the distant horizon that you have captured here as well as the sparkle effects on the water. For me, working with watercolor compared to acrylic is like trying to manage chaos. It is unpredictable, frustrates and surprises me but draws me in just the same. I love seeing how it’s done by watching you work.
Your water looks so realistic! Great instruction today. I’ve been watching you paint skies for a while. In this lesson, you explained the basics that I’ve heard before. I learn a little more each time I watch. Thank you for posting! By the way, I agree with the comment that said sometimes I turn on your videos just to listen to your voice. LOL🙏💙🌵
I'm afraid I have never tried to paint smaller, I always use 11" by 15", the only advice I can give you is to experiment and see how it works best for your size, the principle will be exactly the same though
Hi Lois, I love your demos and have recently started using hake brushes for laying down paint rather than just wetting the paper. I’m finding that sometimes it’s hard to get the brush to release the pigment. Have you any tips about this… when I wash the hake brush out it seems like there’s lots of pigment in it but it’s not I can’t get it onto the paper without having very obvious brush strokes!! Thanks in advance!
I'm afraid I have never experienced what you describe so cannot advise except to say, experiment with slightly more water for a looser mix of paint that should leave the brush easily

Great use of gravity for the sky.
Great sky, great advice, great video. Do you find that tipping and tilting work well for smaller paintings? Thank you 🙏 🌵
