    In the Netherlands no one except passengers and employees can get in to the reclaim area. So US airports: secure those areas properly! Even the area used for domestic flights is locked here. Only passengers are allowed!

    I've been between Ireland/the UK several times and I've always noticed the airports in the US have baggage claims right near the door so anyone can go in, in Ireland for example you go through immigration, then there's baggage claim and you go out to the arrivals area through a door with a security guard, so some random person can't just walk in and grab a bag off the belt

  • @alshli22

      At the Phoenix airport in this video the baggage area is directly in front of the passenger drop off/pickup area. I could park my car on the curb run inside grab a bag off the claim and be back in my vehicle in less than 30 seconds

    Also put a colorful and large luggage tag on your suitcase. My parents always tied a hot pink bow on the handles. So even if you have a black bag, you can add obnoxious accessories onto it.

In my country only guards can go where we claim our baggages from the exterior... the rest are people that come from airplanes... so how someone from outside can enter there that easily???

      REAL GrumpyCat because these airlines are too "poor" - cough cough- and too lazy to hire people to check if the bags are yours. FYI these airlines actually have the money to pay employees to do this job, but they don't give a care about their passengers.. They only care about their company and money.

    -- “What you won’t see anymore is an airline employee checking bag tags before you leave. Airlines cut those positions to save money.”
    Of course they did. Yet another example of unmitigated corporate greed. It used to be that the quality life gradually got better over time. All the little things that made life better would tend to improve over time. But now, and for the last couple of decades, that process has reversed direction and things are inexorably getting worse.

    Locked suitcases are not allowed on a plane.

    • @Falany
      @Falany 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The officers that check suspicious luggage for drugs or illegal items etc. in the US have a master key for all the locks, and there are several ways to still open a locked suitcase and close it again without the owner noticing, so you saying that it's not allowed is BS. I've also never seen it stated anywhere and have never heard anything about it even though I always lock my bags everywhere I fly.

    • @MattTonite
      @MattTonite 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience, they let the passenger know they searched the bag. Many times, i opened my suitcase and discover a TSA flyer explaining that it was searched.

    • @MattTonite
      @MattTonite 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the lock I tried was a combination lock. Maybe they didn't have to page me through the security checkpoint, back to the check in counter to unlock my baggage (every single time I locked it) but they do.

      A.New.Viewer, locks are a joke! Use zip ties, more than one, to secure the zipper pulls to one of your bag's handles. You want to immobilize the zipper pulls, that keeps those who pierce zippers from being able top cover their tracks.
