Unless you're looking for a collector piece the 3.8 is fine and honestly if you're spending the money on an SS you might as well go after an iroc. It's really hard to find 4th gens that haven't been smashed. Hope this kid kept the car, it's worth a lot more in 2021. "The air conditioning works"
Haha LOL ! That country touch with the trailer hitch on a Camaro was funny, but I really laughed when you pulled out the extra oil bottle.....god damn :) Nice work on the car, respect for not ragging this 3800 Series-II V6 to pieces like most !
To remove the shifter knob for an automatic on a Camaro, you remove a "staple" that is facing the front of the car. Pull it out with a regular screwdriver.
I want this gen for my first car next year in October 2015... I know what I'm going to do too. I'm going to black out the lights, tints, paint the stock rims, K&N filter, and an borla exhaust.
Borla will sound awesome in that car..i had one like this 2001 3.8 series 2 with magnaflow ...but borla will sound better good luck be sure u will get a very good car..strong..and beautiful
You said something about the shifter along time ago To remove the old and or original shifter knob, there is a small c clip on the backside of your shifter .turn your key on dont crank the car ,but turn it on and put the car in 1rst gear leave e brake on of cource and the grab some needle nose players and pull the clip out and it will pull right off
I have a 1997 4th gen 30rth anniversary 3.8liter by 4 speed automatic .it has a blown 3.4 in it right now I just bought it like that .I'm going to replace with a small block 350 and new ,lighter drivetrain all aluminum makes the car lighter and more swift
I have those same exhaust tips and I don't like them either. They stick out way too much. I bought mine with a blown head gasket so, got to get that fixed. I'm going to get rid of the original ugly blue cloth seats and put in Black vinyl seats and black out the whole interior. Get rid of the factory rims get some new rims on there and a spoiler on the back. LED tail lights and headlights.
I'd sell it and get a newer 4th gen the 3.4 engines are ok but they only make 160 hp and have tons of problems it's hard to make any power with a 3.4 but the 3.8 is alot better like this one

So I noticed this video was shot 11 years ago so, I'm assuming you're out of college now I'm probably do not have the car anymore? I doubt you'll even see this LOL
I only had the car for 2 yeas and I didnt have motor problems. The previous owner took very good care of it. I was the first owner to drive it in the winter so that could've played a big factor in the quality of the motor.
😂😂😂😂boi hell nah an extra thing of oil sitting in the hood u funny af and a trailer hitch I was confused when I seen that😭 what you gonna tow I mean u could try a little trailer about he size of a atv you would be a first to do it🤘🏿🤘🏿
It was actually a wiring issue that i fixed later that year. The car is in a junkyard now.....my dad and I took all the parts we could salvage off it before i got rid of it.
Even the v6 Camaros will still hold their value. Doesn't have to be a V8.
Seen an 4th gen ss towing a pontoon I was like wtf
i got a 97 3.8 lovely car's
Sounds great for a V6,
3800 is a phenomenal engine very reliable and extremely tunable

My exhaust with the same exact exhaust pipes has the same sound. Definitely going to take them off and replace them.
Haha LOL !

I really want your air lid and that exhaust sounds great at idle
What is the solution to the door handles, outside, becoming weak and wobbly?
I have the exact same car but yours is better.
I'm Tracy I had one just like it 2001 v6. Caro
Hi I'm Tracy had ione just like it in blue 2001 v6 Camaro it was the show car at service Chevrolet in Lafayette
So I noticed this video was shot 11 years ago so, I'm assuming you're out of college now I'm probably do not have the car anymore? I doubt you'll even see this LOL
@@joey8701 yeah unfortunately I got rid of the car in 2016. The frame started to rust.. it was a good car while it lasted..
I actually got it fixed. It was a like 1 inch metal peace that was connected to the frame and muffler. it broke off and it had to be welded back on.
that was my guess sounded like an exhaust leak, those are known for bad exhaust gaskets. Glad it wasnt that and actually on the tubing.
A teardrop trailer!
5:37 how did you get a Trans Am shifter in a camaro?
What are you getting on MPG?
20-23 on mine
those 3800 are known for getting up to 30 hight way. I know it dont seem right but my 2.7 liter gets 28.
I have a chance to get me a 2000 model. Did you have any trouble with the motor? I heard bad things on the v6 ones.
I only had the car for 2 yeas and I didnt have motor problems. The previous owner took very good care of it. I was the first owner to drive it in the winter so that could've played a big factor in the quality of the motor.
If you ever want to sell that intake lid let me know
Also, how much did you pay for it?
Where did you get the chrome pieces that go on the camaro logo on the back???
www.camarocentral.com/product_p/emb-893.htm

BassAssassin86 how did you get it out? i saw that but couldnt figure out how to get it out

I dont have the car anymore but I did catch it off. The oil was cuz it leaked really bad. Used it to fill it up when it got low
Your camaro has a slight misfire you might want to check all your spark plugs
It was actually a wiring issue that i fixed later that year. The car is in a junkyard now.....my dad and I took all the parts we could salvage off it before i got rid of it.
your exhaust pipes are rattling because the v6 model inst true dual exhaust the ls1 stock only has one pipe
