  • Beautifully made, professional spec. Canon digital cameras. But what do you look out for if buying secondhand? Jonathan runs through the primary checks if buying on the used market.

The current craze of the gear-freaks has enabled me afford some fantastic pro cameras at minimal prices. Now I proudly own, Canon 1DIV, 5D, 5DII, 5DIII and 7D with tons of shutter life remaining. I couldn’t have imagined getting them all at affordable prices within such a short period. I sold out all my semipro bodies like 70D and 6D and got all of these and couldn’t be happier. These bodies are capable of achieving anything that other modern cameras can. Moreover, the DSLRs are far more efficient in nailing real-time view of fast action. Battery life is another strength.
    Thanks for the video.

i'm planning to get into photography, not professionally but mostly landscapes, potraits and group pictures on trips. which one should i really get. Trying to buy one from ebay, too many options and it is confusing. i know very little about cameras. budget 250 USD.

@@anudeepreddysolleti3800 try Canon 5D Mark II. One of the all-time great cameras which will serve your purposes nicely. I use it and it's one of my darlings. Shoot in RAW and process it to suit your taste. Check for the shutter count before buying it. If it's less than 100k, it's fine.

@quazisanjeed6395 agree, the Canon 5D II is a great camera.

I own this camera. I purchased new in 2008. It is in fantastic shape. I also purchased the WiFi unit. I am not a Pro. I find the only real disadvantage is ISO range settings back then were not as good on the high end. For studio work or landscape work this camera keeps up with current cams pretty good. Batteries only last about 12 years though 😉

They are now selling for $600 at a popular used dealer. I have owned one since 2008. It takes great pictures. For normal shooting I cannot tell the difference between it and my 5D IV. Two limitations. 1. I wouldn't shoot over ISO 1000 and 2. It is very heavy. Back in the old day paparazzi would hop over fences with these and a 70-200 f/2.8. I'm 77 and now have moved to a used 5D IV. it hurts my neck after an hour or two. The charger is bulky if your travelling around on vacation.

I had one of these for 14 years alongside the 1D3, both excellent but at high ISO’s the 1DS3 was very noisy with banding, otherwise bulletproof, but mine eventually was showing signs of shutter failure and it had to go.

Yes, great cameras. But with no support from Canon they can no longer be fixed. Very sad.
