Very helpful man!
Just after some advice if possible.. I'm tempted to buy the mark ii version, I've only been doing photography for 2 years , currently own a canon 90d and more than happy using a dslr atm, but i fancy adding a full frame to the collection. Would the mark ii version be a good buy?
Yes, they’re great value but avoid heavily used cameras.
@WorldwideCameraExchange thanks for that. I've been looking on MPB UK and they have a couple in excellent condition and shutter counts about 70k or lower.
I have a plastic screw driver specifically for this purpose.
Thank you! Yashica twin lens cameras are another option, potentially at a lower price. There are probably other good brands out there too.
Yashica 124g is a great camera!
Could you please do a talk on EV meters/metering?
They are beautiful machines that feel great in use!
Agree!
With billions of people on earth and billions of products sold; I think all products should be designed and supported to last the span of a human life. That means a camera, computer or automobile purchased when a person is 20 should be updatable and serviceable for another 60 years. This idea may sound radical but when given thought it makes sense. Otherwise it is off to the landfill. I have little confidence in recycling efforts. In a few hundred years humans will have mighty big landfills if we don’t change our attitude towards product longevity.
There’s also a version with dark slide holder and A12 with a star on the detach knob. Is it newer/older? I see people mark it as version IV on eBay
The version with the darkslide holder is the latest. There have been many minor variations over the years - I’ve only referenced the major upgrades.
dear lord, that is one mint looking F2.
I haven’t had fungus issues but I have noticed that small imperfections or dirt on the front element if a lens tends to have little if any effect on image quality. Damage or debris on the rear element of a lens is said to be a serious problem. Internal imperfections might or might not be problematic. Can anyone comment on this issue?
Small spots of fungus won’t affect image quality. But fungus will get worse over time and spores might spread to other equipment.
Thank you very much
Hope it was useful
Great explanation. Very easy to understand.
Thanks. Enjoy your Hasselblad.
Thank you very much, it helped me to identify my grandpa leica III g
Glad it was useful
Build quality in the film cameras is usually far better than with modern digital equipment , particularly with that notorious peeling away of the rubber from Nikon bodies . Yes , agree with what has been said about the creative and thinking aspects to picture taking . Maximising depth of field using Hyperfocal Distance is something I used a lot way back when . Still have an F2 Nikon , which I do use occasionally . Am midway through a roll of Ilford HP 5 at present .
AIs also S for speed of focusing. Less turn on the focus ring to go from infinity to close focus. BUT... less precise. So go to AI... and before H series for the all metal rings 😊
That was pretty thorough. Imagine have to cycle through tripping the shutter 20 times to assure the electronics are reliable. Good to know.
This guy has taught me more about my film camera operations than anybody else. You're doing amazing stuff, sir!
Outstanding tutorial. This video answered a lot questions I had. Thank you for posting.
Glad it was useful!
Jonathan, I picked up exactly this model earlier this year, a Black paint, plain prism F and a couple of period lenses, a 50/1.4 and a 28/2. A wonderful, classic set-up. I do get some looks when I use it, people are amazed to see this classic in action in today's modern world!
Fantastic cameras - enjoy!
Great video, got my bronica out of the cupboard now I'm retired. Couldn't get the lens off. Thought it was damaged so found your video. Didn't have the shutter cocked. It's been a long time since I've put a film through it, so thanks. 11.00 am 9/12/2024, Australia
Glad you got it sorted!
Leica are niche products. Great glass, so-so bodies. Not worth the insultingly high price. More money has been made and more memories have been preserved with Japanese cameras, which incidentally just work better. Zeiss glass and Nikon bodies for the win.
Thanks Jonathan for taking the time to provide the excellent demo; clear and crisp!!
Excellent, clear and concise video. I've finally grasped the hitherto, unfathomable progression. Thank you for uploading.
Thanks - glad it was useful!
I hope nikon do a reissue of these like they did with the sp.
That would be fantastic! In black with the plain prism.
I have several M film cameras and others and your advice on how to examine a camera for shutter and other functions is excellent! I do this for my cameras as they get older or just sit unused for a time.
Appreciated - thanks
Many thanks Jonathan for a thorough walkthrough about the Nikon F - just bought one so perfect timing for me 😊
Hope it’s useful!
Very Interesting. Never considered this. Are video lenses the same as Camera lenses and they can be affected too? apologies for being vague on this subject but I am in the automotive trade, prominently in the ADAS Safety system field. I'm intrigued as to whether this would also effect the Cameras in the windscreen for assisting drivers for quicker reaction times. The environment shared that this Fungus prefers and ultimately thrives in can also be the same found in a vehicle.
Yes, I’m sure they can be affected in the same way. But as they’ll be exposed to sunlight most of the time I doubt it’ll be an issue.
What a wonderful and legendary camera.
I love that camera! Coupled. with the F36 motor it's a beast! To me, it's the SLR equivalent of the Leica M3 rangefinder. Thanks for the presentation.
Couldn't agree more!
This is excellent. Watching this while waiting for my package. I hope it works well 🤞
Good luck!
Very clear, thank you.
Thanks
Super-informative and clear. Thank you.
Glad it was useful
I have the F2A is this from 1977
The Nikon F2A was introduced in 1977
Good afternoon friend, I speak here from Brazil. The mirror of my 501c crashed and doesn't go down anymore. What could have caused this? Is it easy to fix? Thank you very much
It’ll need servicing. Always use a repairer who knows Hasselblad.
If you can find someone to service one of these locally and able to do it within 3 months, you're quite lucky.
Thanks for commenting. I’d only ever recommend a specialist Leica repairer with a good reputation. And, yes, they’re few and far between, are expensive (justifiably), and will have long waiting lists (understandably). A well maintained mechanical Leica will happily work for decades so it’s a price worth paying.
As always - superbly informative and helpful
Thank you
I have one with a Polaroid back great camera better than any digital camera
Compare the prices though. Take e.g. the Sony a7R V - it's ~4499,- € when buying from German dealers. If I go for the "grey" import, the very same camera is 2763,- €. That's a whopping 1736,- € difference!!! This imo clearly shows how much we're being ripped off in Europe by the camera market structures.
If you’re buying an identical factory-fresh camera (not B stock), with a full guarantee and support from a reliable dealer, who has paid all required import taxes, I agree. I have no issue with legitimately imported grey products but buyers should understand exactly what they are purchasing. They can then make an informed decision - hence the video. To say grey is good, or grey is bad, is too simplistic.
What a cool little code--crazy to realize my body is from the 50s!
Hello Jonathan, the Takumar lenses used by the Pentax 67 contained radioactivity, meaning they were slightly radioactive. What's the situation with the lenses used by the Pentax 645N? Is this camera and lens combination safe? For example, the SMC PENTAX-F 645 1:2.8 75mm lens. I look forward to your response. See you soon.
The level at which low-level radioactivity is regarded as safe is not a question I can answer. And if you’re concerned, it isn’t a question I would seek answers to on social media. The 645 lenses are newer and to the best of my knowledge don’t contain Thorium.
Finally, a video that focuses on the camera. This is such a wonderful and informative video. Thank you, Jonathan, and well done! 🎉
Thank you. Glad they’re useful.
Hello again Jonathan, with regard to a Pro SD film back on a Pro (original) body. In order to use an SD back on a Pro body, I'll need to get a Pro-SD revolving adapter to put on the Pro body? Is that correct? I apologize for bombarding you with all these questions about the Mamiya RB system, but there aren't many people on TH-cam going into some of the things that seem to keep cropping up.
The 6x7 (and smaller) Pro S and Pro SD backs are interchangeable.
Thanks! 🍀✨
Welcome!
Hi Jonathan. Do you know if I can put a pro sd film back onto a Pro (original) body? If so, is there a specific adapter needed?
They are interchangeable
@@WorldwideCameraExchange You're an absolute legend! "said in my best football announcer voice". I've been looking to pick up an SD film back for my rb67 pro since I heard the light traps would be better than hoping for a Pro or Pro S back with decent light seals.
Hey Mate, Thanks so much for your informative videos. Is it ok for slight (what look to be) cracks on the baffles?
It’s usually cracks in the material stuck onto light baffles and the inner cheeks of the camera. Very common and nothing to worry about.
@ great stuff! I’ve gone ahead and purchased my first Hasselblad 501CM! Very excited to get it in my hands.
Fantastic camera - enjoy!
Ich habe die Pentax 645 Nii.Die macht nur 12 Bilder statt 15 bzw 16 Bilder wenn ich den Film aus dem Labor zurückbekomme.weißt du woran das liegt ?
You should get the camera checked and serviced.
This and the Canon F1, pinnacles.
Yes, both fantastic cameras.
I imagine the raised edge is not something you want when getting an adapter for APSC.
The manufacturer should provide compatibility information.
Do you find the side shutter release to be awkward for handheld shooting, compared to the front facing button on most other Rollei's?
Yes, I prefer the front facing release but it’s something you get used to. It definitely isn’t a dealbreaker.
@@WorldwideCameraExchange Thanks for the info
Love your vids. For some reason photographers like intro waffle, showing how to make coffee in the field, how the ATMs weren't working,...yes for real! 🤦
No time to waffle!
