I requested George Straight so they sent me to Denver since that is Where he was in his tour!! Real life as a real Cowboy 🤠 He so proud that he is a cowboy, that he has said “Playing dress-up don't make you country." Some of my friends said why didn’t you pick to see Garth Brooks? Everyone knew George as being a real person and not pretending to be someone else. He is authentic country/cowboy. He could and still can draw huge crowds especially here in Texas. Back in the day it wasn’t uncommon to see him riding his motorcycle around or eating a burger in a convenience store. I had some friends that were fortunate enough to spend time with him while filming Pure Country and they said he was a class act
in other words, what we see on screen is exactly how he is OFF screen ... a very humble, nice guy with good manners and his success did not go to his head!
I lived in San Marcos back in the day. We used to go see him play at the Green Parrot anytime he was there. We would also go to the Crystal Chandelier in New Braunfels. It cost between $2 and $5 to get in but it was so worth it!

you and me both trudy! i have to take this back; he was in AMES, IOWA back in 80s or 90s. i was listening to parts of his many people entertaining. the local country radio show announcers had close seats and left early. the gal at the far gate found me giving me those 2 tickets. i went home to get warmer clothes asking hubby if he would go with me...nope to big crowds. i went alone. good thing as there was a very large woman 3-4 chairs down taking up 2 seats so others had less room to sit & my extra seat became others chair! i took photos too. someone grabbed my 35mm from me dropping it on the ground breaking the OUTER lens...not the good lens..thank you god! i had good seats, but CROWD STOOD UP FULL TIME BLOCKING THE LARGE SCREENS FROM ME TOO! i'm handicapped & could stand for a brief time only. i enjoyed the music, just couldn't see who else was singing. bettyg, iowa lifetime sr. fan

I got to meet him after he did a concert in the Texarkana, TX college auditorium, not long after he got started. He was so sweet, and made sure everyone that wanted to meet him got to! He kissed me on the cheek, I was "over the moon" for months 😂 Have always loved his music!!
It was because of my first foster cousin introducing me to George Strait. That's why I didn't have so many issues with my first foster family. Her sister introduced me to Selena. They both were a big help.

AWESOME Just got a little pissed when I threw young daughter’s shirt on stage for George to sign. They wouldn’t give back because they didn’t have proof of my throwing it. King George is true country, it's refreshing that he doesn't use his fame to talk about the stupid crap that alot of entertainers do now. George could sing the phone book and is equal to, if not better, than legends like Merle Haggard and George Jones.

I do not blame George for not wanting to be apart of the Opry. This man had character.
George didn’t join the Opry because he lives in Texas, and being an Opry member requires several appearances per year in Nashville where he doesn’t wish to live, and also to be away from home and his family. It’s not a protest that he didn’t join it’s just that his personal life matters more and comes first!
