There were a number of celebrities that were involved in this ad. Singers Kylie Minogue and Troye Sivan, actor Hugh Jackman, Australian Rules footballer Adam Goodes, tennis player Ash Barty, swimmers Bronte Campbell and Ellie Cole. The ad was filmed pre-COVID but it was poignant during and after COVID because many were stuck overseas and couldn't get home. This made it way more emotional when we saw the reunions.
You really need to see the original by Peter Allen, the boy from Oz. He's no longer with us, but he's a much loved Australian icon.

2 of the girls singing in the quire in this latest QANTAS ad are children of girls that sang in the original ad in 1993.

A great song by Peter Allan used by Qantas as an Ad, No matter where you are in the world Qantas can get you home.
Qantas is the worlds oldest airline started in a small QLD town of Longreach where you see the children's choir singing from.

Totally agree. Peter Allen's original performances are chilling. When QANTAS first produced these ads, they irked me. I have softened to them, but still love Peter Allen's performances the best. Also his Tenterfield Saddler is so good.

Peter Allen is the original song writer for this song, and it was in the running for Australia's National Anthemn, but unfortunately peter Allen had passed away some time ago from a AIDS related illness. God bless Australia 🇦🇺

Basically a successful bit of advertising. It is for an airline so that if they can create a sense of nostalgia then they can sell seats. In the 1950s Australia was a small remote country which had a white Australia immigration policy. By 2000 everything had changed. The country decided to encourage target migration which was completely unrelated to race. Doctors, Engineers, Dentists and Nurses flowed in from India China and the Philippines. Government and the private sector decided to show that having a multicultural society was a good thing. Now Australia has about 20% of people who were born elsewhere. This has been hugely important in allowing Australia to develop as a rich tolerant country. Songs such as this are argument for diversity but also they create pride over the fact that we are diverse. Historically Australian treatment of Aboriginal People was awful. There is an enormous way to go in rectifying this. However this song celebrates the First Nations (as Aboriginal People prefer to be known) and integral to our country. The opening of the video show Ularu which is in the center of Australia and has sacred significance to First Nations people. The woman who speaks to her phone is one of Australia's greatest tennis players who is indigenous. The guy who is not keen to get into the pool is one of our greatest AFL players. This song was used by Qantus during the 2000 Olympics. it was a time when Australians had moved from thinking they lived in a backwater to thinking they lived in a vibrant and successful country
