This song is proof that Australian isn't entirely a national identity but also a frame of belief and way of life. If you act like an Australian and believe in the Australian way then you are one of us, we welcome all to our island home.

The first part is the indigenous voice, and the Dreamtime, having been the keepers of this land for 40,000 years or more.
Then it moves to the last 200 years, the convicts, Australia’s modern history, and how we all attempt to adapt and welcome everyone to the Australian community.
    We sing with one voice…

    Thanks lady's
The song is our history of how we where formed regardless the good or bad
It was written by the guy who started singing
The lady passed last year this was her last performance
Judith shows the Aussie's spirit they sing about
The reason she was sitting and couldn't move her arm not long before had a stroke paralysing one side of her body
But she wanted to do their last show and even though half her face was paralysed she was still able to sing the song just as they normally would have
    So thanks for watching 🦘🇦🇺👍

I'm 70 now and as a kid The Seakers came out with a couple of beautiful songs and Judith Durham's incredibly beautiful soprano voice then in the 60s never changed! A couple of songs that you should try is the song recorded at the Abbey road studio in the 60s is.. I'll Never Find Another You, and I believe the other side of the 45rpm record had George Girl on it! I was only 12 years old so all I had was a little record player that played 45s. Anyway, if you can find it you'll see what I mean about how time never changed that incredible voice and thank goodness it was recorded and we are lucky to get to listen to it today!

A very hard ancient country. Australians are unique. 12,000 miles from anywhere and they died like lions in wars for freedom. Australian hero's are buried in battlefields all over the World. No wonder they are proud to be Australian. I would!

Its sure brings a tear to the eyes every time you hear it. And a pride in our country..
Sure, there are problems. Like everywhere, but, Australia is a wonderful place overall.
This song, as on other commenter said, gives a history of how we became a nation. The people who make up our land.
A lot of cultural references that probably only Aussies would understand.
The woman singing, Judith Durham, had just recovered from surgery for cancer and had to relearn how to sing.
Last year, Judith passed away. RIP!

Thanks ladies, I really loved your reaction. This performance was recorded I believe in 2014, but this epic Australian folk group had been performing off and on together since 1964. You should really check out their great worldwide hits from the 1960s: I'll Never Find Another You, The Carnival Is Over and Georgy Girl. They had aged well since 1964, sounding as good as ever, but as the video title suggests this was one of their final performances together. Sadly we lost the beautiful Judith Durham in 2022, aged 79 so we will not hear their like again. May she rest in peace.

Hello! You have a great reaction channel here but I thought you might like a heads up on a bit of a technical hitch you have there. For instance at just after the 5:07 mark, when you speak while the vid is playing the sound from the vid changes to distortion.
Have no idea why as I'm not a tech head but if you look into it, it will save any future trouble for you. Good luck!

    • @rickyhart4715
      @rickyhart4715 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

They are not claiming they are indigenous; they are singing the first verse from the viewpoint of an indigenous Australian. And as someone with Aboriginal heritage who is descended from Mannalargenna chief of the Ben Lomond tribe of Tasmania (later Palawa) I find it touching. It is a song about inclusion and mate ship. That no matter how you got here, if you assimilate to the Australian dream of freedom, peace and equality then you are Australian. We are one, we stand together when it counts. I think you missed the point and are too focused on hate.😊
