No, as you can't deploy a fighter when you're landed on the ground - but you can go with a buddy and have him help you from the air. If you do that don't use Plasma or Missiles, they do zero damage - kinetic weapons, like multis or frags work great.
@@Exigeous i was there alone and grab 1 guardian fighter, they destroy my srv when im returnig to the ship loool. I think i leave them time enough to gather together and destroy me, perhaps of i kill them when they appear is better.
I got a question about the effectiveness of Huge multicannons, or rather.. lack of. A while ago i was flying a Conda with 3C3 PA's with Effi5, and they ripped apart corvettes and other large ships in mere seconds, a corvette's shield would get obliterated in 3 volleys with 4bips into weapons. And now i've changed to a Corvette using 2 fixec C4 MC with OC5+OS, with additional 2C1 MC with OC5+Corrision... and compared to the PA's, it takes FOREVER to kill anything. If the PA's are a huge razorsharp machette, the multicannons are a rusty knife that kills you by a 1000 cuts or leaves you dead by tetanus from the rust on the knife. It feels that eventho my C4 Multicannons are engineered with 80% increased damage from OC5+OS, they do ALOT less damage. Is this anything you have experience with ?.
Well the issue is the type of damage each weapon deals. PAs do "absolute" damage which ignores resistances. MCs, without incendiary do kinetic damage and most shields have huge resistance to kinetic. If you put incendiary on them then part of the damage will be converted to thermal and they will do shield damage. Corrasion ups the kinetic damage to hull - once you strike hull, until then it does nothing. So in short you're using the exact wrong modifications if you want to do shield damage with exactly the wrong weapon. Make sense?
yes ofc. I know that much, but even when striking the hull of ships, the 2 C4 MCs seems to "nibble" away at the targets while PA's simply takes huge bites from it.... greatwhite shark bites. One would think that with G5OC+OS on 2 C4 fixed MC's, they would melt the hull of any ship they hit, but compared to PA's or Frags, they're not even close. After trying multiple setups, PA's seems like the only option for GOOD damage, everything else falls short.
Oh first I agree that PAs are the way to go - again remember they do absolute damage. So if someone has 50% thermal and 50% kinetic resistance your thermal/kinteic weapons only do 50% damage where a PA would do 100% - that's why they are so heavily used in PvP.
No, not really - we're learning to combine the two together. Think movies where we capture an alien ship and reverse-engineer it. We've had Guardian weapons for a while now.
Well weve had access to destroyed Thargoid tech for almost 2 centuries and yet we cant keep them from shutting down our ships like a solar flair to a Holo computer
Yeah, the issue there from the lore is the Guardian are similar to us so their tech is easier to adapt and while it did take time for the shutdown field neutralizer we do have that now too.
Anyone reading this. If you attempt to do this solo bring your A game against those sentinels. Point defense on your ship, make sure you have them above your ship and and extra SRV. I got ripped apart charging the final pillar and now taking the flight of shame back to the bubble to re arm...
constantly new "weapons" and "new" ships. (they took the chieftain, glued one spoiler on its ass, named it crusader, and called it "new" ... dude ..) can't wait to see the mining and exploration update. it should be refreshing.
Yes, but SLFs just kinda suck in general. Also don't use those in open or PG without permission from the people involved cause they can seriously affect frames and can cause server lag
That system could be good too I've just always used this system as it has all 3 ancient ruin sites so you can pick any of the three - but sure, not necessarily anything super special about it.
ruins.canonn.technology/#GR1 Is a map showing the "2nd" of the two ruins sites at the system i mentioned. It shows which can be scanned in blue. Ive been logging and scanning at points G and t. Im gettin alpha beta delta gamma epsilon
the thing with SLF is - to be effective, there has to be like 10 of them, imo. and ye,im not a huge pvp guy., i could be wrong. but i thought it was the whole point of them. that's why i love/hate FD. they have a lot of coold features, which done poorly
most use a SLF in goid hunting gets is flying chaff to align up the swarm or distract it while mother ship does damage or even distract goid while mother ship is rebooting
With a wing and multi crew, fighters become very dangerous. Their DPS can match a large or huge hardpoint easily. I use a type 10 as a gun boat with 2 SLF from multicrew and then additional commanders in their own ships. Makes wing elimination missions very easy.
Just against Thargoids - and even then they have such weak hull that if they get breathed on they die. The AX Taipan is generally better, but these sure are fun to fly, especially in VR. The Lance is probably the best all around since it has a gauss cannon.
@@Exigeous yea I spent a few nights grinding for the weapons and only got a total of 9 epsilon data 😑. My buddy got like 60 and we were doing it at the same time in solo just chatting I was not happy to say the least haha
Something I'm doing right now that seems to help is find 1 obelisk, and just keep relog scanning it. its actually going rather quick claiming all the data needed for all 3 slf in 1 go.
I'm actually stuck at the part where you eject the key. It's falls onto the keyhole and lays there as if it's not detecting it. I activated the 6 pylons, but it just isn't working. Any suggestions??
Can I be a pain and ask what 2 fighters you would reccomend? I have enough Epsilon data to unlock 2 fighters and I'm not too sure what to go for, ideally I would like to use the fighter for swarm control while I focused the interceptor, what are your thoughts? Thanks again
I'd do the Lance for sure, that's the Gauss cannon version. After that I'd probably go for the Trident as it's plasma cannon is a shit ton of fun to fire.
For that not really that effective, that said we've done some PvP testing and the shard cannon version does seem rather powerful against hull - so, maybe. I don't think I'd go through all the work for that - save for they are really damn fun and great looking.
Yes and no -- yes, you can but they aren't necessarily the best suited - that said in some quick testing the Shard cannon version was extremely effective against hull at close range - so sorta?
hi man! Today I've beeing searching thargos at Pleiades, I ussually fight at Pleiades Sector pd-s b4-0, I have my xeno ships al Ieyasu Dock. The question is that there's only Non Human Signal (threat 5), the Threat 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 seems that has desapeared. peThe same thing at other sistems like Maia, Celaeno, HR 1183, Merope.... In all the sistems has desapeared this type of signal. Only I've could find Cyclops, Basilisks Medusas and Explorers has desapeared Do you knwo why happen this?
Before I waste my time with this, any benefit for PVP? I do not hunt thargoids. the one with the guass cannon looks intriguing because NPCs tend to have Aimbot railgun accuracy and do not overheat.
You know it's sorta hard to say - we fucked around with the shard cannon version and were super surprised with how much damage it did. Against my Krait with 1000 hull 1 trigger pull with the shard cannon did like 4% hull damage, so........ maybe?
Yes, they are the Guardian version of frag cannons but yes, they are highly range dependent. At 500m or less they are very effective, between 500-1000 they're okay but beyond that they are shit.
@CMDR Exigeous, Hey Exi, was wondering which one of those 3 new fighters would be cool to have for PVE, PVP, and just futzing around? I like the look of the Trident, not sure what weapon it has on. Thanks in advance for your feedback Cmdr Zphinx o7
I have all the part (just spent 8 hour grinding the patters) but when I went to the technology broker I didn't see the option to unlock the fighters. Any help? Nevermind. The technology broker I was using wasn't working for some reason so I went to the station in the video and it worked fine.
Sorta / Sorta not - unclear so far. The shard cannon version does seem rather effective against hull in testing but really for bounty hunting the standard fighters are likely better.
Not a very good idea to fly into the structure for the key. OA did his video on the Guardian structure and he was nearly captured after getting the key. It started closing up around him. lol I have yet to go Thargoid hunting....or even encounter one....but doesn't that seem like a bad idea to have fighters with specialty traits? I get that FDEV may want people to hunt these in packs and people use different ships to take them down, but would they be too weak if hunting solo?
Uh, you mean the key that comes out of the bottom? I've gotten in about 6 times (for friends) and have seen several others do it multiple times too. You can of course use a collector limpet, just like I say in the video if you'd like.
@@Exigeous Yep, that's the one. I guess he was admiring the view. When he went for the key, the structure started closing and he was almost trapped. I guess it's best not to dawdle when getting the key.
Because it's far more efficient at the other site as there are not only far more obelisks but there are several where you can sit and scan 2 from your turret without moving. Scan them, log out/in and repeat. Many times if you log out at the structures it won't put you right back where you were but at the ruins site it will.
@@Exigeous i understand what you meant now once i went there. its ridiculous that Fdev add some much sentient drone now when it need so much rare data and you cant even trade. it's just stupid grind for grind sake....
Every site i go to, it is dark, and even when i wait half a day or so and come back, but in your vids they are day time... It is frustrating me because i want to see these places for myself in daylight
Yeah, I hear ya - you just have to be there at the right time - but realize some bodies will be tidally locked and/or so far from a star they'll always be dark. Thankfully we have night vision now.
@@Exigeous Both locations you were at was daylight, and i am waiting hours and still they are on the dark.. If they are tidally locked how are the sunny in other videos but not for me?
Well there could be many reasons - first that orbital periods could be VERY VERY long/slow. Did you look at the rotation period of the body? What about the body it orbits? Really hard to say - if you're referring to the exact location in the video and it's in light obviously it will happen again. One tip - use Night Vision to see around. If you're just looking for pretty, well there are a ton of places that fit that bill!
@@Exigeous Actually that makes sense.. I did check the orbital period earlier today, and it said 52 days... Of course i use nightvision, but just want to experience the ruins in their true light and not in false light.. I came back to ED after my ex and i broke up a year ago and he took his game stuff.. I went out and got the game for myself for PS4 about 4 months ago, and now finally just started exploring Gurdian sites for the first time.. The only thing i seen that was not human was a Thargoid base.. Watching the Gurdian beacon be activated was reallhy something lol
It'll be cool if there's one Guardian left out there somewhere or maybe even a small population of about 10 or so just hiding. I want to believe that there's a bigger threat that could wipe the entire galaxy of all life. Like the tyranids from Warhammer 40k :D
I think that they're extinct, but the AI that destroyed them has their DNA stored, but doesnt want to make new Guardians because it thinks they would do the same mistakes.
There is, its called humans, slowly spreading like a plague across the galaxy. these human creatures seem to be rather hostile, they even war and fight among themselves
Thanks god im going to (probably) buy horizon season pass, so i can enjoy this ^^ Ps: Quick question: how much time do you need to unlock ONE fighter... A few hours? A day? XD
Yeah, I'd say for a new pilot all in probably more like 4 - that's from sitting down to getting up with the fighter, including outfitting, travel and - the big long part - getting the Epilson Obelisk data - that SUCKS and is way slow.
The vessel blueprints were bugged back months ago so you must have gotten those when you scanned the obelisks back then. You also got lucky that you got enough of the other materials when doing other unlocks.
A quick improvement of your method, Exigeous: the best place to farm for Obelisk data is the ruin on SYNUEFE XR-H D11-102, planet 1B (Canonn link: ruins.canonn.technology/#GR1) Within these ruins there is a spot between the groups G and T where you have a very tight pattern of 4 active obelisks that you can scan over and over with minimal effort in driving (T 16 & 18 and G 16 & 18). They all drop between 1 and 2 different type of data each, completely random between alpha, beta, gamma, delta and epsilon. It is much better than the proposed COL 173 site, which has only groups of 2
Great and helpful video...too bad the fighters are trash. Ax Taipan is much better as a bait for Thargons and Interceptors alike. These Guardian hybrids disintegrate at first Thargoid touch. I'm pissed actually after hours of grinding and then finding out they are almost useless.
Yeah, they really are paper. Oddly they are better for PvP as it's rare your target will focus your fighter so you can use them pretty effectively there.
@@Exigeous ehhh I guess but I think it would be cool if there was a way In the game that was a way to figure it out via a puzzle or something.maybe even implement a way to get info from NPC's in the future.

Yea like even if it was a puzzle to figure out or something would be cool. Like an incoming transmission that you have to take to a station and decide or an announcement on galnet OR a google like search engine for galnet that can help guide you to these. @@Exigeous i was there alone and grab 1 guardian fighter, they destroy my srv when im returnig to the ship loool. I think i leave them time enough to gather together and destroy me, perhaps of i kill them when they appear is better.
@@DarkWatcher-Gaming YES - you have to kill them each as they appear, if you let them all build up they will definitely kill you.
@@Exigeous Thank you so much. Continue your great work.
Went to get the Epsilon data but was only given a few. But a BUNCH of beta data
The guardian fighters are effective against human ships ? or just for Thargoids ?
Does anyone else think it's weird that guardian tech is compatible with human tech?
No, not really - we're learning to combine the two together. Think movies where we capture an alien ship and reverse-engineer it. We've had Guardian weapons for a while now.
Well weve had access to destroyed Thargoid tech for almost 2 centuries and yet we cant keep them from shutting down our ships like a solar flair to a Holo computer
Yeah, the issue there from the lore is the Guardian are similar to us so their tech is easier to adapt and while it did take time for the shutdown field neutralizer we do have that now too.
The Duke FSD came from thargoid tech
USB connection, innit.
Anyone reading this. If you attempt to do this solo bring your A game against those sentinels. Point defense on your ship, make sure you have them above your ship and and extra SRV. I got ripped apart charging the final pillar and now taking the flight of shame back to the bubble to re arm...
Thanks for the video.
I do not know about Javelin, but the other two overheat way too fast.
Yeah, the Lance is definitely hot but the Javelin really isn't thanks to the Shard cannons. Very little distributor draw too.
constantly new "weapons" and "new" ships.
(they took the chieftain, glued one spoiler on its ass, named it crusader, and called it "new" ... dude ..)
can't wait to see the mining and exploration update. it should be refreshing.
Yeah, totally agree there - but I'll admit I worry that there is so much importance being up on the Q4 update that it just can't live up to it.
Great guide as usual.
Are these gaurdian fighters better than regular ones?
Yes, but SLFs just kinda suck in general. Also don't use those in open or PG without permission from the people involved cause they can seriously affect frames and can cause server lag
@Cmdr Exigeous why the Col Sector 173. Isnt there ancient ruins much closer like Synuefe xr-h d11-102? Or am i missing something?
That system could be good too I've just always used this system as it has all 3 ancient ruin sites so you can pick any of the three - but sure, not necessarily anything super special about it.
@@Exigeous so specific sites give specific obelisk data?
ruins.canonn.technology/#GR1
Is a map showing the "2nd" of the two ruins sites at the system i mentioned.
It shows which can be scanned in blue. Ive been logging and scanning at points G and t. Im gettin alpha beta delta gamma epsilon
Pattern epsilon certainly seems the rarest... sigh
Yep, which is why it's so fucking stupid they require 26 of them PER fighter.
Shooting the hell out of pylons with a pulse and beam laser and it's not charging them what am I doing wrong??
the thing with SLF is - to be effective, there has to be like 10 of them, imo. and ye,im not a huge pvp guy., i could be wrong.
but i thought it was the whole point of them.
that's why i love/hate FD.
they have a lot of coold features, which done poorly
most use a SLF in goid hunting gets is flying chaff to align up the swarm or distract it while mother ship does damage or even distract goid while mother ship is rebooting
With a wing and multi crew, fighters become very dangerous. Their DPS can match a large or huge hardpoint easily. I use a type 10 as a gun boat with 2 SLF from multicrew and then additional commanders in their own ships. Makes wing elimination missions very easy.
Are guardian SLF's any good in PvP? Or just against Thargoids?
Just against Thargoids - and even then they have such weak hull that if they get breathed on they die. The AX Taipan is generally better, but these sure are fun to fly, especially in VR. The Lance is probably the best all around since it has a gauss cannon.
Thanks exigeous for the info. Not happy with having to get so much epsilon data tho it's so hard to get
Agree - I haven't yet unlocked the other 2 as I don't have enough (about to head out to get more) - I'm guessing it'll take a few hours at least.
@@Exigeous yea I spent a few nights grinding for the weapons and only got a total of 9 epsilon data 😑. My buddy got like 60 and we were doing it at the same time in solo just chatting I was not happy to say the least haha
Yeah, welcome to the bullshit RNG that is Elite.
@@Exigeous 2 hour for 78 data scans cmdr... o7
It only works on the vessel segment sites
There are also weapon and module sites
What fighter should I get? (I really just want one that looks cool and is decent against thargoids
For looks I love the Trident with the plasma auto cannon, looks fucking awesome when it fires.
@@Exigeous thanks
is it still this amount or did they lower it?
Just a rinse and repeat on the beacon, correct?
Yep, you got it - don't even have to log out/in.
My ship isn't transferring the key to the SRV automatically. When I land on the planet do I have to jettison it and then retrieve it in the SRV?
Like I said in the video, when you land open your roles panel (one between your legs) and transfer the cargo over.
@@Exigeous oh, my bad. I must have missed that part. I'm usually watching your videos on 'how to' whilst I'm playing the game.
No worries, it's a common thing for people to miss - good luck in finishing the grind, they are a lot of fun.
@@Exigeous That sounds like a plan. Thanks so much CMDR, looking forward to G5ing my Krait over the week and Goid Hunting for the foreseeable!
Please let me know how it goes and what you think of the fighters. In VR they are a blast.
Found a location in Synuefe HE-G b44-5 B 1.
Sure, they are all over the place now - the ones referenced in the video were some of the first ones discovered and the few we knew about at the time.
@@Exigeous I didn't know how common they were. I found one and figured I'd share.
@@jamesoswald1732 Oh no worries, thanks for sharing!
What is the best place to get the Sentinel wreckage components, I was out there for two hours killing them and did not get one
Sadly that is the only way - you just have to farm them over and over. And over. And over some more. I mean damn, what do you want, "fun" "game"play?
How effective are these for haz site bounty hunting?
For that not really that effective, that said we've done some PvP testing and the shard cannon version does seem rather powerful against hull - so, maybe. I don't think I'd go through all the work for that - save for they are really damn fun and great looking.
Thank you very much
Could you use these new fighters for normal REZ hunting?
Yes and no -- yes, you can but they aren't necessarily the best suited - that said in some quick testing the Shard cannon version was extremely effective against hull at close range - so sorta?
the image of 3:36 is wrong
It depends on which site you go to, this is for the one linked.
Only I've could find Cyclops, Basilisks Medusas and Explorers has desapeared
Do you knwo why happen this?
The Scout signal sources move from system to system - have a look at my video on Scouts for some details on how to best find them.
Against my Krait with 1000 hull 1 trigger pull with the shard cannon did like 4% hull damage, so........ maybe?
@@Exigeous shard cannons, are those the ones that are like fragment cannons? If so, are they not affected by range?
Yes, they are the Guardian version of frag cannons but yes, they are highly range dependent. At 500m or less they are very effective, between 500-1000 they're okay but beyond that they are shit.
Oh and if you play in VR the plasma charge cannon (or whatever it's called) its fucking cool as shit to fire.
So if I only got one Guardian blueprint for now which one of these new Guardian ships should I build first?
I went for the Lance first as I feel the guass cannon is the most effective.
I went ahead and got the Trident and am not disappointed wow what a cool ship.
They really are, right??
I went for the javelin, same weapons as my ship
Wish you would of said you need 3X the mats for all 3 fightera
I have all the part (just spent 8 hour grinding the patters) but when I went to the technology broker I didn't see the option to unlock the fighters. Any help?
Nevermind. The technology broker I was using wasn't working for some reason so I went to the station in the video and it worked fine.
You were likely at a Human technology broker rather than a Guardian broker - you even have to grind to find the right broker these days.
Are they any good against non thargoid ship?
Sorta / Sorta not - unclear so far. The shard cannon version does seem rather effective against hull in testing but really for bounty hunting the standard fighters are likely better.
I'm lazy, you should add the systems in the description so I can ctrl+C and ctrl+v dat stuff. . .
They are
Not a very good idea to fly into the structure for the key. OA did his video on the Guardian structure and he was nearly captured after getting the key. It started closing up around him. lol
I have yet to go Thargoid hunting....or even encounter one....but doesn't that seem like a bad idea to have fighters with specialty traits? I get that FDEV may want people to hunt these in packs and people use different ships to take them down, but would they be too weak if hunting solo?
Uh, you mean the key that comes out of the bottom? I've gotten in about 6 times (for friends) and have seen several others do it multiple times too. You can of course use a collector limpet, just like I say in the video if you'd like.
@@Exigeous Yep, that's the one. I guess he was admiring the view. When he went for the key, the structure started closing and he was almost trapped. I guess it's best not to dawdle when getting the key.
Yeah it left me with 8%hull
I flew an Anaconda when I did mine. I made sure to have limpets
Полезное видео! Спасибо!
why need to collect the data from another site ?
Because it's far more efficient at the other site as there are not only far more obelisks but there are several where you can sit and scan 2 from your turret without moving. Scan them, log out/in and repeat. Many times if you log out at the structures it won't put you right back where you were but at the ruins site it will.
@@Exigeous i understand what you meant now once i went there. its ridiculous that Fdev add some much sentient drone now when it need so much rare data and you cant even trade. it's just stupid grind for grind sake....
I wanted the javelin fighter and now I do not
Did all this and when I drop the Ancient Key, nothing happens!
Double check your location, I went to the wrong one the first time
Yeah, look for it at the "bottom" of the beacon, or check your contacts. The good thing is it's easy to just run the process again.
Yep. That’s was it. Wrong site. Thanks.
Not getting any epslion data
Where is the guardian beacon?
You mean the one that's listed in the description of the video? Guardian Beacon: Synuefe KU-F B44-4
@@Exigeous ha yes I noticed that right after I posted the comment. Thanks for taking the time to reply anyways though. Great video as usual.
do u need to get 3 keys
If you want all 3 fighters yes
fucking mad lad, thank you for this awesome tutorial! :)
Wish you would have shown the planet on the map goddam !
ThrottleFox I'm talking xeno threats
Before the AI took over there were tribes that fought and were banished away from the gaurdians in lore
This has got to me the most frustrating type of gameplay ever imagined. Scan the thing, log out, log back in scan again and repeat.
Grrrrr! I also wasted one of my keys.
I hate it
Thanks god im going to (probably) buy horizon season pass, so i can enjoy this ^^
Ps: Quick question: how much time do you need to unlock ONE fighter... A few hours? A day? XD
Yeah, I'd say for a new pilot all in probably more like 4 - that's from sitting down to getting up with the fighter, including outfitting, travel and - the big long part - getting the Epilson Obelisk data - that SUCKS and is way slow.
@Kick Nenton thx ^^
Daniel Garcia just did it in an hour. Although i already had a tonne of guardian tech parts from getting the fsd boosters
I love your tutorial videos, but the music in this one is so loud I can barely hear your instructions and is quite distracting.
I'm confused. I unlocked all the fighters straight outta Jameson without doing any of that fancy stuff.
The vessel blueprints were bugged back months ago so you must have gotten those when you scanned the obelisks back then. You also got lucky that you got enough of the other materials when doing other unlocks.
💜
A quick improvement of your method, Exigeous: the best place to farm for Obelisk data is the ruin on SYNUEFE XR-H D11-102, planet 1B (Canonn link: ruins.canonn.technology/#GR1)
Within these ruins there is a spot between the groups G and T where you have a very tight pattern of 4 active obelisks that you can scan over and over with minimal effort in driving (T 16 & 18 and G 16 & 18). They all drop between 1 and 2 different type of data each, completely random between alpha, beta, gamma, delta and epsilon.
It is much better than the proposed COL 173 site, which has only groups of 2
Damn, dude. That was very convenient. Just kept driving in a small circle. Thanks!
good video, no time to do that, mayby in future u can get all easier, boring hunt thargoils, get data, materials and other mambo jambo 😆😆😆😆😀😀😀
Did he say "shart" launcher? hehehe
And how in the hell did fdev think anyone would just figure this out?
What, you don't think needing to look things up on TH-cam and Google isn't a core part of the game???
@@Exigeous ehhh I guess but I think it would be cool if there was a way In the game that was a way to figure it out via a puzzle or something.maybe even implement a way to get info from NPC's in the future.
Oh shit man I was being a smart ass - it's totally absurd that nothing in game tells you this stuff!! I love that I can share these with my viewers but come on, it should absolutely be in the game.
Yea like even if it was a puzzle to figure out or something would be cool. Like an incoming transmission that you have to take to a station and decide or an announcement on galnet OR a google like search engine for galnet that can help guide you to these. Also speaking of viewers I subbed right away after seeing this video. Alot of other E.D youtubers tend be ranty go off topic throughout the video or take forever to jump into the juicy details. Your vids on the other hand are coherent short and straight to the point.keep up the good work man O7
