As been mentioned but would definitely be checking/replacing the engine mounts. Glad to still see you are at it would love a reunion with benji 😊 keep it up 👍🏻👌🏻💪🏼
Also run spacer, love it! there is a serial flaw with one of the engine mounts with one of the bolts in it unscrewing IIRC. I'm quite sure it's about one of the engine mounts.
Hint : The mirror can be risen a wee bit further by filing a small gap at the top of the knuckle ball of the mirror. Hence, in conjuction with the riser, the mirror can be adjusted to it's highest position right up to the limit of touching the plastic cover. Knock : Could be the engine mounts rubber has cracked. There have been a few comments on the GR Forum about this issue. Powerflex sell PU inserts to strengthen the OEM Engine rubber mounts. Ref PFF76-920, 923 & 925. NIce crocs .... 😂
A little tip for you: Use wooden chop sticks to remove the airbag, they will not scratch your steering wheel and trim, and also use a picture of the wheel without the airbag to work our where to poke the sticks :)
Put a bar like a strut brace across the engine bay with padding underneath each end to protect the inner wing and jack up engine to release the pressure on the mounts then ratchet strap the engine to the bar to keep it suspended then try the speed bump to eliminate the mounts.
Engine/gearbox mounts, failing joints, drop link or top mount but if they check the shocks mounts then then start looking at the others that's mentioned
I would find a bump that you can drive over on one side at a time. See if it does it regardless of which side is going over the bump. If it does it both sides, I would check all the exhaust bolts. Especially near the front. It sounds like a smaller part. Not like motor or trans. Maybe more like anti roll bar, or some mounting bracket. -Simon Fisher
It will be your scuttle plate - its the thread catching on the thin metal plate - you would think the front shock was going to break it was so bad on mine - let me know how you get on. Dealer was clueless and I spoke my friends at Dunlop Motorsport in Bangor - N Ireland and they sorted it - boom
I'd take that lower torque mount out and see if the bushing has split. It's a quick job. And while you're taking it out you might as well swap it for the Cusco torque mount instead to improve the shifting.

just like evilgt at the start when the original channel started, when i was like your 30th subscriber!! keep them coming!
Take the seat slider bar off, stick it in a vice and bend the end up 45 degrees saves your fingers and solves the issue. Have you checked if an engine mounts split?
Just remember the drivers air bag was calibrated and set up for the oem seat height and steering position. But hopefully it won’t ever go off. All those repair issues would play havoc with my OCD but fine as a track car I suppose.
Probably not your case, but on my old Toyota Rav4 front brake calipers was the culprit, guide pins wore out, easy to chceck, if you brake during the bump there is no noise.
That noise is possibly an engine mount/s. The steering wheel you could draw the line through the spacer and line it up that way. Steering wheels are a nightmare I took delivery of a brand new 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra and someone had drawn on the steering wheel prior to taking delivery. After a botched attempt from the dealership to repair it the only fix was a new wheel but the dealership reluctantly agreed to replace it when SEAT Corporate intervened. I drove to the dealership happy with the new steering wheel that's until I drove off & the wheel was off center. I headed straight back & in true style the dealership called their technician denied any responsibility and said the steering wheel is impossible to put back incorrectly & my tracking must be off despite it being perfect when I arrived. I was told by teh SEAT Tech who did the job it was impossible to fit the steering wheel incorrectly as it only goes on one way and it is not adjustable and the splines do not fit if you move it. After wasting my breath I decided to take my car to another SEAT dealership & they investigated. The fix the took the wheel off and moved it two notches to the left. I complained to SEAT Corporate again and they sent me a food hamper and was very apologetic.
lee, are the drop links on the correct way? to me it looks like when the car is on the ground the angle of the drop links is too much and it could be binding causing the knock, most drop links are straight vertical, ie mounted to the other side of the arb
I think the foundations of the car which are bushings on where the car engine sits are cracked that's why the engine is moving up and down on bumps causing the noice
Engine mount? I had one crack after a car was damage repaired. That made a knocking that was hard to find. It was knocking over bumps, as it got worse it did it under hard acceleration
Try checking something less obvious like the os headlight hasn’t got a broken fixing tab. Can’t be suspension if so many professionals have not found it
Did you reuse the bolts for the subframe? If so sometimes they are stretch bolts and should be replaced if undone. My TTS was knocking and turned out it was the subframe bolts were reused and causing the knocking. Love the content hope to see more frequent videos!
That noise sounds like engine mount under the coolant res. Either it got cracked on the casing or the rubber is damaged causing the engine to jump when going over bumps. Only reasonable explanation i can think of.
Maybe check your strutts. If that seem sealer cracked then some force has hit the strutt tower. If that force has come through the strutt (most obvious way) then your actual strutt could be snapped inside or bent. If that was my car id be looking at strutts and the hub on that drivers side front
@evilgtlee I've been buying bumped cars for 23 years so I've seen it all. You'd be suprised how something looks okay behaves okay but can actually be broken. Almost certainly it will be the strutt itself and the wheel bearing could also be bent. Cars are built so lightly now everything light weight thin metal
@@DaleSteel They swapped struts over to the other side and it was still making the noise on the same side as before they swapped, so it cannot be the struts, I'd say an engine mount.
Under the windshield panel there’s a a metal bit that goes across the front of the car that can come undone, even without crashing! Tighten it up and the nock should go away…
the 'wavey' panel, someone pointed out to me their wavey panel and said they all have them (GR's) so i checked mine and i wish i fuckin hadn't. sticks out like a sore thumb now! Oh and your mirror riser rises the mirror by 6mm, all of them are a rip off mod.
As been mentioned but would definitely be checking/replacing the engine mounts. Glad to still see you are at it would love a reunion with benji 😊 keep it up 👍🏻👌🏻💪🏼
Well I'm upset beyond... No Ben and no new coat! Every good band gets back together at some point 👍
I asked him last week if he had any interest in doing videos and he said “not with you no” 😂
@@evilgtleeshit, did he find out about you sleeping with his wife? I told you it was a bad idea 😂
@@evilgtlee 😂 Lee tell him to get a grip and get something done on the original channel.
@@evilgtleeyour so much better on your own mate. Great video.
@@ukultimatercI have to agree 👍
Great to see you again pal! Miss this! Kinda like the old days 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I had a steering wheel spacer on mine. Couldn’t wait to remove it. Not being able to reach the indicator stalks from the wheel is a massive PITA
A little tip for you: Use wooden chop sticks to remove the airbag, they will not scratch your steering wheel and trim, and also use a picture of the wheel without the airbag to work our where to poke the sticks :)

Engine/gearbox mounts, failing joints, drop link or top mount but if they check the shocks mounts then then start looking at the others that's mentioned
Possible replace gearbox and engine mount if top mounts not the cause
Great video mate
Its the little things that make it your own 👍
Maybe the sound is the Cooler assembly moving or something in the front crash bar? Take the front bumper off and look behind it!

Did you check engine mounts? Looks like it wobbled a lot over that bump!
Good to see you back mate have you checked the engine mounts ??
They are getting checked next
Lee that knocking noise is 100% coming from the steering column hitting the firewall over bumps id put £50 on it
Could Benji be hiding at the top of a strut tower and that's what the speedbump knock is?
You know what, you might have just fixed the issue 😂
Maybe silly, but have a look at the exhaust, all the mounts, remove the trays and see if the noise changes
Brilliant. Love an Evil GT video. Hope you’re well Lee. 👍
Thanks mate 🙏
Great to see you back on TH-cam, loving the updates on the Yaris
Are you sure the uprated parts fit ok and aren’t knocking like anti roll bar is same size as oem
Take the seat slider bar off, stick it in a vice and bend the end up 45 degrees saves your fingers and solves the issue. Have you checked if an engine mounts split?

Yeah, your back, I was just wondered the other if you were going to do another video or if you had decided to pack it in.

What are those!!! 🐊
Haha all joking aside, glad to see you doing videos again!!
Thought every car had adjustable seatbelts now, normally just push a button on the plastic bit that holds belt in and it will slide up or down.
Good vid mate. Bit late but you could have got the spacer cheaper via swift performance as they are the uk importers
Ahh ok I didn’t see anywhere in the UK that sold them 😩
Top job lee 👍..surely a certificate is on its way 😂
Great to see you again Lee! Great little video. Can't help you with the knock unfortunately but have you checked engine mounts? 🤔
Thanks mate. It’s sounding like it could be the mount, Toyota are replacing them on other cars by the sound of it

dont use fixed racing harnesses on road, in case of massive crash you will break your neck, always use HANS device with racing harnesses
