Omg...i just finished turning my "junk room" into my craft room and had to keep reminding myself to trust the process, it took me 4 days and i have a hole pile of donations!!
I am one person. My staples are coffee, coffee creamer, popcorn and food for the cats. Literally. I work in a grocery store and I shop small. But I do store my unused appliances in the basement.
Great job Zeb! You might put the bleach on a shelf below the food. If for some reason the container of bleach leaks or breaks it won't ruin the food. Just a thought. I had it happen. God has blessed you.
When you purchase new packages of grains put them in the freezer for 2 wks to kill any weevil eggs. Then they can go on the pantry shelf. I put them in the big gallon jars or vacuum seal in food saver bags. Oils in seeds and grains will become rancid over time. Nuts will too. I keep nuts frozen in jars or vacuum food saver bags. Nothing separates and preserves flavors like glass. Flour, cornmeal and pasta best if stored in glass. Freeze fresh baked breads for 24 to 48 hrs after baking to prolong time before mold can grow.
Yes. I want to go to store with y’all’ About the floors. My house is a 235 yr old rock house and most of the floors have giant beams with wood flooring strips nailed directly to them. Wind comes thru in winter so I put faux laminate in one big room and the others are being addressed as electrician installs new wiring thru whole house. Also found some snake skins as we put in laminate. It does make for some difficulty when stove is disconnected and refer in a separate room. Great work y’all. I feel the need to get it done. Love your videos.💕💕💕💕
Zeb, when do you sleep?😂 I am from Alabama and moved to Florida because of the cold. I never understood the living in the winter/snow. I now understand more the doing it y'all's way. Stocking up so you don't have to really go out much in it. Y'all are definitely an inspiration. God bless y'all ❤
I STRONGLY suggest getting the Costco industrial shelving, it is on sale right now, you can save your backs too and get it on line! SUPER easy to install and configure how you need it! My garage is a DISASTER, it’s SO cold now to have to do it, but it must be down! Late Buck this weekend, hubby got an Elk, so after cutting the Elk and HOPEFULLY a Buck, we will eat good again! He leaves at 0430, gets home around 1930, so I just have been buying a TON of frozen ready made (expensive and no *so* healthy 😂) meals! I can’t wait to have REAL FOOD again!!!!
Great job Zeb! If you get dry beans to store, I would recommend canning them instead of storing them dry. They do get old and then they may not soften up when you cook them.
We can them a lot. So we buy enough for a year and then get them canned in that same year. I don’t think I have it in me to can enough beans. We eat them a lot lol
Yes it's true about beans getting hard if sitting around for awhile. We had an assistant manger in the kitchen I worked at. She over ordered dry beans and it took forever to cook the old ones up. Half a day cooking them and still hard!
@@JamiRayVintage Yeah, we do too. I just used up the last jar. I’ve got to get busy canning beans again, as well as the apples I haven’t dealt with yet!
AS Ive said before, amazing lifestyle. You are ready for anything!! I hate winters, dont want to go out either. Could hibernate like a bear!! Floors looking fabulous... Although I dont eat meat, (thank God because its so expsive) do eat dairy and fish.. somewhat gluten free. So I love when you all cook, grow all the veggies. So inspirational. I had no idea how Walnuts grew...so cool!! They are very healthy for you, except if allergic. SO YES TO FOOD SHOPPING WITH YOU TOO!!❤
I'm so impressed with your food storage! How fantastic!! Yeah it makes great sense . I have a walk in pantry but there's not enough room for lots of extra. It must feel so good that you got that job done! Love your new floor..lookin' so good!
I'll totally watch a food shopping video if you do one. I love your new floors! I know you've had painted floors and oil-waxed floors also. In a future video can you tell us about some of the things you've liked and disliked about the different types of wood flooring finishes you've lived with? What is the brand or source of this new flooring? Red oak? Pre-finished? Raw? Reclaimed? It looks good and antique-y!
This is raw red oak, same as the addition we did a couple years ago. We’ll do white oil wax on these to match. Its held up really well in the addition and aged nicely.
*I am behind in my videos - I really enjoyed everything in this one - especially the variety‼️😊* *WOW...your basement and food storage look AH-MAZE-ING after the reorganization, folks❣️😉 YES, I would love to see a food shopping trip. 🛍* *Your floors look great; 👍🏼 can't wait to see them completed with the white oil wax on top. 😁* *Sorry to learn you are allergic to walnuts, Zeb! I love ❤️ them, but they are getting SO EXPENSIVE‼️🤯 I wish I had a walnut tree 🌳 in my yard...😔.*
The food storage looks awesome! Our food storage was a real lifesaver when our oldest served his mission. Just a side note, you should create a separate shelf for any soap or cleaning products. The flavors can transfer and if you have a leak or a bottle of bleach gets punctured your hard earned food supplies won’t be compromised. Keep up all the amazing work!
The new kitchen floor looks like an excellent choice for busy folks & pets -- Fans are awaiting to see how you design your " deVol " kitchen.. cabinet color / counter choices....
Jami .... My pkg arrived in spectacular order -- the small blue & white tureen-- took me 10 minutes to unearth it & the little beauty sits in a sunny spot in the sitting room ! Ivie & the girls did a great pkg job 👍
Bleach only last about 1 year. It kinda turns to water. Also, i noticed your basement wall has a horizontal crack. Thats the worst kind that makes it unstable and something is pushing on the wall. You might want to have that checked out before it gets worse and starts leaking. Great job tackling those jobs!!
Walnut trees produce juglone, a lot of people have an allergy or sensitivity to it. I wouldn’t recommend using it for mulch. Lots of people mulch it and use it on paths to keep weeds and plants down along the pathway.
YES! Would LOVE a store stock up trip video
I'm in for the food shopping....Floors are looking so good!
Your new floor looks so terrific! 💪🏻💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍

@@kaihandren9309yay!! Was it the one we repaired? We always have to pack those ones extra careful.
@kaihandren9309 that was such a cute piece🎉 congrats!
@@JamiRayVintage .... No it was not the repaired one .... the small one presented the first Saturday night...
Bleach has increased in price so you are lucky to have a good supply
Yes, i forgot about food too in the basement and it was wasted.
love this channel...i was just subscribed to the other
I’m down for any type of video y’all want to share!

What is your food storage plan?
We try to have foods we eat regularly and between canning and what’s on the shelf rotate through it every year.
Today I raked up a bunch of walnut leaves in Orem. Are they fine to use for mulch and in my raised beds?
Not sure. Walnut trees produce a toxin that prevents other plants from growing nearby. I'd doo more research before using walnut leaves as mulch.
Walnut trees produce juglone, a lot of people have an allergy or sensitivity to it. I wouldn’t recommend using it for mulch. Lots of people mulch it and use it on paths to keep weeds and plants down along the pathway.
What kind of flooring is this?
this is red oak
@@jamiandzeb is it available at “The Home Depot” ? Lol
Jeb, please use knee pads
