He meant that surround yourself with male or female friends in the name of friendship because you don’t know who will marry you if you try to ignore everyone because of one person and she or she doesn’t marry you , you have to start making new friends all over. Good work done. There was nothing wrong what pastor Elvis said. He just meant that boyfriend and girlfriend are just friends and not sin partners as some people think. After all we all have boyfriends and girlfriends, who are not sin partners to us. People think they can distract what God is doing through his ministry. #Alpha hour for life.

I understand what the man of God is saying, and I have some of them and because of our narrow understanding of the phrase, so I rather tame it "my female friend" which does not include romance or any practices that is beneficial to either of the party.
So I don't say girlfriend, especially if I am making any public posts for because when you mention boyfriend or girlfriend, the society will profile you quickly, so we ought to be careful with our choice of words in our various expressions.

The wording is just wrong, but the message is perfect. Anyone who listens and understands both languages he used sees there is nothing wrong with what he said.
If the message is perfect then the words are perfect too. He already did a lot of exegesis in a clear and simple term.
People simply misunderstood what he said.
This is the problem, marriage is very important but as young people our focus should not even be on marriage to be thinking of dating someone. The reason for being friends with the opposite sex should not even be because you think the individual is suitable to be married to, it even promotes fornication at heart.
There are a lot of problems in the world that we need to be thinking about than thinking about marrying or even dating. How many people will have time to pursue purpose when they marry. They tell us that, get the most out of your single period because we can't do them when we marry and it's true.
The Bible tells us how we should marry; how did our Patriarchs marry, that is the right way? If God never changes and He approved of this, then, that is the way.
The world needs us, let us major the majors and minor the minors, this time of our lives should be given to learning to change the world

I joined the episode that night, and what he meant was boy and friendship without sex attached. Courtship limits it to only one person. What I've noticed is that people actually understand what he meant, but men just want the words from authorities to support their wrongs.
I think the term for normal friendship should be “male friend or female friend”
English is not our language, those who own the language said that, in their language, boyfriend/girl friend means someone who you start having sexual intimacy with.
So you can have as many male friends as possible or as many female friends you want.
Study all of them and realize the one that would suit your God given purpose.

Actually, some dictionaries include the meaning of boyfriend as "a male friend". So really, he said nothing wrong. But in our local context, the connotation is "always" a romantic friend so he should've used a better term.

We know Pastor Elvis' message backed by his deeds. Even if he has misplaced his words or has spoken ambiguously, we should scrutinise his words to understand his intended meaning. And that's what Pastor Gideon has just done. I don't agree with the trending opinion that Pastor Elvis seems to be encouraging having multiple amorous partners. Shame on those trying to tarnish his radiant image!

Christians dont need to have girlfriends or boyfriends unless the definition of those words have changed. I presently have so many friends who are boys and girls, men and women, but none is my boyfriend or girlfriend.

When i married my wife, she NEVER was my girlfriend, she was just a friend. She then became part of the ladies I DATED when i decided to get married to check to know which of them can be a future wife. I then COURTED her to be EXTRA SURE and when i realized she was okay for me, she later became my FIANCÉE .

Girlfriend boyfriend is about sex period. Its in the same vein. Pastor Chris also went of bar by saying the youth can masturbate because its not having sex with another person.

I believed when pastor Elvis said you can have many boyfriends and girlfriends it simply means that just having a casual friend which could in turn become spouse and he has clarified his statements already with alot of exegesis in the video.
Well I respect Abel Damina and Pastor Chris and I hold them in high regard but not all of their teachings I agree with. Those teachings that are in accordance with the word of God I agree with them but those ones outside what the Bible says, I disagree with them and I discard them as well. As we know, no one is perfect that's the more reasons we have to study the word of God to show thyself approve. So my brother, that's my humble submission.

I go by what the dictionary says and what i know for decades now. A GIRLFRIEND IS YOUR SEXUAL PARTNER. But just like some pastors now have DIFFERENT definition for SIN and even when they are FORNICATING they say they cannot sin, so another definition is being given to Girlfriend Boyfriend.

I like this pastor. People must understand that he is not encouraging adultery but rather teaching the church to refrain from immoral activities, fornication and secrete affairs going on. Please let us be patient and not be sentimental because we have personal hatred towards someone and so anything they do will try to interpret in our own words. Please the man is a preacher and not a linguist. Whereas his use of "boyfriend" may not be sound according to your Dictionary. His teaching is sound in doctrine. If this is the mistake that our Pastors in Ghana are making in their teaching, that would have been the least of our worries. A perverse generation we are have become dull of hearing and likes to argue about everything. We want a correct definition and use of words but not a correct ordering and patterning of our lives after biblical truths. If you get the definition of the word "boyfriend" and "girlfriend"' correctly and yet your life is not in sinc with biblical truth as pertaineth to the revealed truth on purity, what does it profit you? Instead of seeking to correct words, let's seek for truth and repentance. When we do that we will see and perceive the soundness of the doctrine which he espoused. That is not to say that a man of God should not seek to teach people in a language they can understand. God bless us all!

The pastor's statement is not only unacceptable but unbiblical, inappropriate, and unnecessary. It has no place in Christian teaching and undermines the integrity of spiritual leadership.
Total deception if she claims God sanctioned her divorce. I'm not trying to be mean but i think she She went to the mountains with her already made decision, felt it was okay to divorce because she wouldn't feel any hurt.. Thank you Pastor Gideon for trying to give clarity to Pastor Elvis controversial statement. He has good intentions but I disagree with the contest of his submission. The danger of having many boyfriends and girlfriend has destroyed many homes. Why do you even encourage the word "many" if you're truly a child of God, when the time is set for you to get married, the right man will come forward. The danger of having many to chose from has led to mistakes in marriage. Sometimes the person that appears to be perfect for you is not who God's want for you. The perfect person for you may never have been your friend. He submission is very deceptive and misleading. What he's saying is not Biblical and should not be coming from a man of God.
I asked myself what is the meaning of the word, "Girlfriend or Boyfriend" and this is what the dictionary says: A boyfriend or girlfriend is a re person's regular male and female companions, people who have a romantic or sexual relationship."
So, if a Boyfriend or a girlfriend has gotten to do with a person you are romantically or sexually attached to, we Christians are not supposed to have boyfriends or girlfriends. PERIOD. If we start to turn against the dictionary definition of a word which we all have accepted, why do we now think the dictionary definition is wrong?

Still, the statement was unnecessary. Young people don't need "boyfriends..". They just need to know their peers in church and their families. It is important to know your audience and what to put across to avoid controversy. People will take your well meaning statement and twist it to satisfy their lust just as they do to scriptures.

The truth is that no matter how much you savor your words , you don't decide to be taken out of context . Those who want to take you out of context will always find a way to do so . Bloggers today twist with cut and paste . Everything he said is right please . That's what I think .
If you communicate and it leads to confusion you have not communicated. The word 'girlfriend' or 'boyfriend' is not Asante twi or Ga, it is English language and there is no ambiguity about the meaning of the word. You just have to google it or get a dictionary. What stopped him from just saying you should have multiple friends who could potentially be your future partner? Since he is not the originator of the word the question is can he be choosing what the word should mean? It's just like you talking and saying I saw someone eating with his ears and when we confront you you just say to me ears mean mouth. How is that reasonable? Yet even more worrisome are the people defending him.....hmmmm this new move of defending men of God even if they goof is really worrisome. While he is not encouraging immorality the choice of words should always fit the context even if you are using metaphors. You may not be a linguist, but you don't have to be a linguist to communicate clearly.
Pastor Elvis and Pastor Gideon, you are both missing the point. When you try to be online pastor, that’s how you would say such things, because you will just say something that will add a little piety to your hidden audience.
Tell them Christianity is not an individual business, we are a new community, therefore we are to do things together. Be in the church, your local church, concentrate on what God wants you to do in the community, marry within that community.

So to tell Christians they can have more than 1 boyfriend or 1 girlfriend, in as much you are not having sexual relations with them, what does it mean to you?
Not everyone is matured enough to see the threats involved, someone having weak knowledge about this, are you not putting them in danger?
