So ask yourself, "Is it really worth it?????

Just a painful and unavoidable death at hundreds of feet high. At least for cars, you have more control and we use cars every day for living getting from point a to b. Hot air balloons are for enjoyment. I'll take the car anyday.
Health & Safety are definitely not an Egyptian priority. Just did the same trip 3 days ago an even though at the end of it I was dry and in one piece you can see these trip operators leave a lot to chance...

Just sayin....but opting for an 'Adventure' in a country you are not going to be able to hold anyone accountable is 'questionable'. I ran a hot air balloon flight company in Oregon, USA for 25 years, we flew over 50,000 guests with no accidents or incidents. A hot air balloon is pretty much the safest aviation equipment there is.....it is the pilots ya got to watch out for. I sure wish I could give you some information on how to figure out if yours is 'worthy'....But asking if the company you are engaging with if they have had any accidents or incidents might help. (An 'incident' is when the balloon had over $1000 worth of damage, but nobody had any broken bones.) Blocking yourself from an awesome experience because of a horrible accident somewhere is unfortunate....after all, we still drive cars, get on boats...and of course, airplanes. Considered risk is something that has to be accepted in ANY adventure....otherwise, it is not much of an adventure. Go to Disneyland if you want to avoid real life.

Very poor choice of a "splash and dash" with a balloon this big and going this speed cross ways to a river that has a tremendous currant. The problem was not enough gas once he got into the water but rather that water weighs 8lbs a gallon and he literally couldn't get the balloon hot enough to lift the water, which would then create a very fast ascent once it poured out of the basket. We hear a lot of bad stories about the pilots in Egypt. Glad everyone is OK.
I went on a ballon ride in Napa Valley California. He came down over a tree and almost crashed. I saw the captains face for a split second. It was awesome anyway.

No, it was the same balloon but a different pilot. Actually you can even watch a video of the fatal flight on TH-cam. The pilot was definitely someone else.
On that day i was in a different hot air balloon and by the time this hot air balloon went in the water, i was in a taxi going back to the ship, the taxi stopped and we watched the balloon hit the ship.
My Wife and I rode on one of these balloons at Luxor in 2011. It was the best ride I’ve had in my life and I think that all these accidents were caused by pilot error and not the Balloons being faulty. Would I go on another Balloon flight. Absolutely, but would want to know that the pilot has a lot of experience and knows what he is doing.
Frow what you can see in this video, the pilot is managing the descent, and it speeds up at low level. This was an inversion, that the pilot didnt burn out of soon enough. In a smaller balloon he could have gotten out of the river with ease, but that sort of rides balloon only has a few hundred kilos of spare lift, and it takes a while to react. Pilot error combined with unlucky weather conditions.

I was expecting this to be the 2013 balloon fire when 19 people died. Ballooning is amazing fun but coming down still seems to be a major problem!
Far less terrifying than having to deal with a nasty Luxor taxi driver wanting 400 Egyptian to cross the Nile when its 2 egyptian on the foot ferry.
Pilot was venting too hard prior to the splash and dunk. Too much drag in the water to get up and out.

The cause of the 2013 crash was a leak in a fuel line. So yes, bad maintenance was the cause.
