Good evening: It's sad the Music Industry is doing this to these artists. This is partly why these artists start (skincare, makeup) lines. They need that cash..!! This shows you don't need to be signed to anything to be a artist..!! The industry is so shady makes no sense. Great video 🙂🙂

Hi there, I totally agree! The record label system was definitely designed to make it difficult for artists & we’ve seen it happen where a lot of labels just drop their artists once they are done with them. They treat them like products & not real humans. Thanks so much for the support. 😊

Well just to let you know….some of these artists didn’t start fragrance, skincare, and makeup lines because they needed money….some of them genuinely just wanted to try something different and new for them. I mean if that was the case that they simply needed money…..all of their products would be at a much higher price than what they are. Take Rare Beauty, now that launched in September 2020 but….makeup lines actually take a few years to come out which means Selena was definitely working on it back in like 2017-2019. If Selena truly needed the money at that point, she would’ve had all her products be priced pretty high from what they currently are which is the $20’s-$30’s range……that’s pretty affordable from $30-$40 which is the price range for most of the makeup brands out there.

    • @Ghosty716

Not surprising. I remember watching a deep dive on kpop contracts a few years ago, and the lable wont even show them their quotas, and even add things like classes and surgeries to keep them in debt and in or resign the contract.
I remember Billie eilish wrote in one of her song something along the lines of what once was a fun hobby is noe a borinf job. That goes for any career, honestly. But it must be harder if youre contractually obligated to produce something in a certain amount of time. Quantity over quality.

The group is mainly made up of minors and I saw they were binded to a 20 year contract with Republic Records. The video is about how the music industry/record labels leaves artists in debt & most of the famous artists we see don’t really get paid a lot. A lot of these artists don’t make as much money from music as we perceive. Hence, that’s why they establish their own beauty brands, businesses, clothing lines, sponsors, etc. They make more money doing outside things.

    • @tiamarrow6366
      @tiamarrow6366 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Not every artist and even actress/actor who has a makeup brand, fragrance brand, or skincare brand has one because they’re broke. I mean think about it….you have to actually have the money to create one if you’re not already working with another brand, who wants to collab with you and just slap your face and name on their products. Selena most definitely had the money to create Rare Beauty, and she never collaborated with any makeup brands to make it happened…Her brand has its own website, and it’s in Sephora. In order for an artist to have a makeup brand, they have to have the money to get started. So Selena definitely had the money for it back in 2017-2019 to work on ig, and then in 2020 to finally launch it. Plus, something to really take into consideration….none of it is free. You need to pay people to go out there and source the ingredients to make the products (some ingredients are rare to find and source, making them a bit more pricey) then you need to pay to have the products created, pay for the packaging, pay for the shipping and storage….while it might not cost a whole lot all together….it still costs. You can’t create and have a makeup brand, unless things are paid for.

Whenever I hear about how little artists make and how they have to take on multiple streams of income that have nothing to do with their music, I think back to when TLC wrote "No Scrubs" like "If you have no car and you're walkin', if you live at home with your mama," only to turn around and tell everybody "We are as broke as can be." This video is very accurate. 💯👏🏽 I’ve seen countless videos about celebs either struggling financially or not being able to afford their lifestyle. This has been going on since the beginning of the music industry in the 50’s. You will never be richer than the label that signed you. Trophies & accolades doesn’t mean you will be rich.

The Music Industry is finished. The whole industry needs a whole new make over and a new way to do business. Hopefully, to do things in a much efficient and simpler way.
The industry needs to burn away and start anew. It’s too corrupt and abused.
The quality of the music today needs to be improved. Today, the music sounds awful and the songwriting is atrocious. One doesn’t need all of these writers and all of these producers!!
It’s outrageous. They did not have this when I was growing up. There were shady and nasty deals but nothing like today. Today, they just want something fast, “hooky” and cheap. Disposable.
Sucks and so does the result. The artists today just do not have good songwriting chops.
They may have great technique and command of their instrument but the actual writing is not there.
Labels do not want to take chances and risks with artists as they used to. They used to let the artist grow and mature. Not anymore. It’s all about fast cash!! And barely any substance.

Music pays VERY well it’s just that people are preyed upon, ignorant, lazy, or don’t care. Because if they looked at these record contracts, read some books on the industry, watched TH-cam video, and hired good entertainment lawyers they would know this isn’t a good deal but would be better to do it on your own.

As a person who has been in the industry forever, it amazes me that artists will spend so much time and effort researching about their craft and skip over the 2 minutes of googling that will tell you how bad signing to a major label is and how little streaming pays if you are not Drake.

I thought most people nowadays were aware that brand deals and touring and festivals is where the money is at for the majority of music artists. Unless you own your music, have writing/producing credits on most of your music and it really sells, you’re not getting a lot of money out of the music itself. At least most contracts aren’t quite as predatory as they once were.

I think the loan analogy is one sided and doesn't fully capture the fact that labels take losses on thousands of artists who actually never make the money back.
If anything labels are more like Venture Capitalists giving a startup money to operate and find a market and then recovering their money if a startup blows up.
If labels were giving out loans they would also be adding interest on artist contracts - which has rarely been the case.
That artists fail to invest the time to understand these subtle differences is why they also get in trouble financially 😂😂😂

Doja was always signed by the way they made her look not signed to market her. The industry needs to just sign people who already have a fanbase or just quit and give up. It’s a loss and probably most of the labels are money laundering and have the artists do other work for money. Music makes money but not the way this industry works. The artists are just paid performers not really artists. They need too many people to make the record good. The money is split too many ways. They are all having an image to maintain that costs too much.

I think for a lot of middle class people, and the working class…..we see all celebrities as money grabbers, when in reality it’s these industries, executives as well as CEO’s, basically the top 1% who’s getting the big checks. I mean we all saw the SAG-AFTRA strikes, even though it was for actors and actresses….it still shines a light on how not everything in Hollywood is glitz and glamour. Now, not every artist out there is going broke and is creating makeup/skincare brands because they need the money…..a lot of them just genuinely love the beauty world and wanna try it out. However, this shows us that even some celebrities and artists struggle too. Also Aubrey O’Day didn’t need to disrespect Addison and Danielle like that. Let’s remember something…..Addison never acted for the life she’s living now, nor did she demand for it….shes talked about it so many times in the last that she only did TikTok for fun, she never intended for any fake to happen. Then with Danielle “Bhad Bhabie” Aubrey wants to say that she has no talent meanwhile…..she was the youngest rapper to hit the billboard hot 100, and even received a Billboard Music Award nomination. Um….you have to have some type of talent for anything like that to happen. I think Aubrey is just jealous to two girls who are much younger than her, were able to do that and she probably didn’t reach peak success until her 20’s….plus, she’s not as well known anymore unlike Danielle, and Addison.

this is nothing new, my parents would be telling me this has been happening since the beginning of time, majority of artist make their money off of tours, sponsorships, merch, and collabs that they do but most of the time they are either still living at home or they are broke just like the rest of us having to do stuff they don't want to do in order to stay relevant and hot and to stay in that scam train to make money it's such a horrible dirty game tbh
