There are two tiers of fall damage for me: The Witcher3 fall damage, where Geralt takes massive damage/dies from jumping/falling down a ledge. Monster Hunter fall damage, where you literally jump down chasms and land on your feet like nobodys business.
@@tamango_skyes8074 For me, there are 3 tiers of falling: no damage regardless of how far you fall, fall damage that has a low cap regardless of how far you fall, and fall damage that just continues to increase as the height of the fall increases. An example of each from my own experiences: tier 1: Super Mario Galaxy; tier 2, Zelda: Ocarina of Time; Tier 3, Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
@@solaris9426 Tier 3 was Everquest. It measured fall damage based on how long it took for you to hit the ground. So the levitate spell killed you when it ended.
How this usually goes when I play with my friend: "Damn Miqi, think we'll survive the jump?" ... "Miqi?" * Miqi already corpse running back to his body at the bottom *
I know how he could make the journey a bit shorter even while going around though. He should just take his horse out of his horse pocket and ride it. That should save some time.
So many years ago I was at a friend’s house playing a game and he said, “Jump off the map over there to get to a special bonus stage.” He then laughed as I fell to my death and I haven’t lived it down decades later. In my defense, the game was a weird Japanese import called Jumpin Flash where you played as a giant robot bunny rabbit that fired lasers out of your eyes. Jumping off the level to access a secret stage seemed entirely reasonable to me.
That game was the tits.. that announcer voice saying jumping flash is forever burned into my memory. That game was a surprisingly good shooter. Super fast pace when you got pretty good at it.
There are spots in lots of RPG's where jumping to your death or swimming out to a certain spot and drowning then reincarnating at the place you haven't been to yet but you just happen to be closer to right now, can save ages of run time.
You know, this really should be old by now with these two arguing about logic like this. But I just never ever get tired of it. It is hilarious no matter what they are arguing over or how many times it is done. That is when you know you are doing this right! Never change it!
Awesome, now do a video where Rowan blindly trusts Ben, because he's been right literally every time so far... but have that time be the one time that Ben is wrong. I think it'd be hilarious.
Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed they didn't reach into their horse pockets and just ride down the cliff face. Shame, Ben. Gotta think outside the programming.
Has anyone kept tabs on how many of these logic arguments Ben has won so far, and how many Rowan has won? The Witcher 3 version Guide: “Okay, let’s take a shortcut; all we have to do is jump down this two-meter ledge.” Geralt: “… I’m not doing that.” Guide: “Why not?” Geralt: “It’s lethal” Guide: “… U wot m8?” Geralt: “Glass ankles. Gotta be careful.”
Just jump first and then press the jump button again right before you land. Geralt will roll out of his fall and take no damage. I've rolled out of falls higher than those that have killed me before, and took zero damage. Problem is, nothing in the game tells you about this ability. I only figured it out by accident after playing Ghost of Tsushima, where that's an unlockable skill.
Would've been funny if Rowan jumped, died and Ben would be like "Oh, you didn't have the skill perk that halves fall damage? Told you to skill that! Your fault, Rowan, not mine. I told you!" 😂
i was fully expecting something along those lines. i noticed he was two levels lower and thought that would be the difference in hitpoints needed to survive.
Honestly, these days fall damage seems to be either killing you if you step off a curb or percentage base. Seeing as you took fall damage in New World for a while we had people in the guild looking for ever taller places to yeet themselves off to see if you could die. Don't recall if you actually could but I believe you couldn't back at launch.
you couldnt ever take more than 50% health in a single fall. the only way to die from falling was to hit multiple falls back to back and even then i think you lived at 1 HP most of the time
I remember in City of Heroes you couldn't die from a fall, regardless of the height you would always be left with 1 HP. And given that players could fly to the top of outdoor zones, there were some pretty long falls you could take.
Once I was in a D&D party where the paladin insulted the great wyrm shadow dragon in front of us. I immediately jumped off the cliff taking maximum fall damage... Ben's dialogue progression when explaining something: 1) "Yeah, just do this thing here" 2) "Nah, it'll be fine, just do it" 3) "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT!! JUST DO IT ALREADY!! DO YOU THINK I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO SOMETHING THAT WOULD KILL YOU!?!?! OUTRAGEOUS!!!"
"Are you annoyed because I am right?" This hits right home because basically 90% of discussions I have end up with me being right and the other person being annoyed
The opposite outcome would have been funny aswell: A bit damaged from the long and exhausting fight against the black dragon of death but still managed fine and then dying falling of a 40cm ledge 😆
To think about this scientifically, in this world they are able to cross the continent in less than an hour at most if we are putting it in games like the Elder Scrolls, thus suggesting that the planet they are on has less gravity, thus less fall damage.

I totally take the short cut to save 5 minutes even if I spend 10 minutes trying to survive the fall. Glitching through a mountain or up a wall is also fun.
just jump off the cliff can you imagine your best friend telling you to jump off the cliff and you can heal up at the bottom🤣🤣🤣
You just gotta practice that tech.

Ben: Suicide is merely a travel option.

@@NetAndyCz Yep
To be fair, Ben instructions are actually always as simple as you can tell them : "just eat it", "just jump"... honestly, it's mostly Rowan who's been kind of a whiner, specially after Ben literaly proved his point lol
"Just grab the horse from your horse pocket" was also pretty simple
It isn't possible it's simple but impossible i mean that eating part
Only problem with ben's suggestions are you just have to believe, you can't reason with logic.

Punch the tire!
If there's fall damage you'll either lose 3 hp from a fall from the moon to earth or die instantly regardless of hp after a 2 meter drop.
There are two tiers of fall damage for me:
The Witcher3 fall damage, where Geralt takes massive damage/dies from jumping/falling down a ledge.
Monster Hunter fall damage, where you literally jump down chasms and land on your feet like nobodys business.
Or you could survive a 10m drop without taking damage but an 11m drop kills you
@@tamango_skyes8074 For me, there are 3 tiers of falling: no damage regardless of how far you fall, fall damage that has a low cap regardless of how far you fall, and fall damage that just continues to increase as the height of the fall increases.

Lovers quarrel

I know, right? 🤣
I like how quickly the conversation escalates and turns to name calling. True gamers.
"Are you just annoyed because I'm right?!"
"Yeah f mate..."
At least Rowan developed a little self-awareness at the end. 😂
he actually said "ya f***ed mate" it's a common Kiwi phrase to mean somebody is not right in the head.
VLDL actually made a skit about that for Dark Souls! th-cam.com/video/imogbdet9rI/w-d-xo.html
Prince of Persia had a "leap of faith".
The reply to this is to pass the controller and go "Cool show me", then watch him squirm.
I think it should be a crossover where Ben invites Rowan to play Dark Souls and then trolls him on that game.
I was just thinking they should do that.
They've been setting it up for aaaaages
That’s wrong every every way and I do not condone that type of behavior!
I expected that last words of this sketch would have been something like "Oh, he wasn't high enough level to take the fall."
I, too, thought it would end with lower level Rowan splattered on the ground
I thought Rowan would still jump and then during the jump Ben would be like "Oh, you took a point in high fall mastery perk, did you?"
Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed they didn't reach into their horse pockets and just ride down the cliff face. Shame, Ben. Gotta think outside the programming.
No no no, horse is the method to climb UP the sheer cliff.
"Are you annoyed because I'm right?"
"Yeah, fuck you mate."

"Ok, I'll do it!" (jumps) (crunch)
"Whoops, did you forget to cast the feather fall spell first? Ah well..." (loots corpse)

Like in Assassins creed ?
Geralt goddammit
It's more like fall damage was always every gamers nemesis in any games in general
@Immortal Deadshot I see
Yesterday I jumped on a stationary car in Fallout 4, the car had a seizure, and I died. Fall damage ftw! 🤦😂
When I saw Ben was level 44 and Rowan was level 42 I was expecting a completely different ending. One with a gristly, grisly splat in it.
yea, i expected Ben would just survive, and Rowan go splat.
yeah same haha
Oh nice catch! That would have made it more than just a punchline. also a puzzle with a valid solution.
I was also absolutely waiting for this to be part of the story, noticed the level difference as well
I thought that was their health, and you can guess how much fall damage I was predicting!!!
Plot twist: Fall damage was 2000 hp
Ben, as Knight class, had 2500 hp
Rowan, as Warrior class, had only 1900 hp.
Has anyone kept tabs on how many of these logic arguments Ben has won so far, and how many Rowan has won? I seem to remember that the times Rowan has won, it tends to involve Rowan being able to do things through sheer stubborness and force of will, resulting in glitching and breaking the game lol (petting the dog, going through a fallen log etc). 😛
But thats game breaking.. i don't count that as winning
3-2 Ben's favor.
Ben
Potion, horse pocket, fall damage
Rowan
Fallen log and petting the dog
If you include the fact fallen log completely glitched the game and horrified Rowan, you swap that point to Ben. I think petting the dog is completely a point for Rowan

Ben: "What? That drop there would kill us!"
Rowan: "You mean this.. not even a 3 foot drop? You're too scared of that tiny drop?"
Ben: "No, I'm saying you'll die if you jumped off of that"
Rowan: "Ben! You jumped off a fucking cliff, yet this tiny thing makes you think it's just death?! HOW?!"
Ben: "Because that's just how the world works, Rowan! You wanna prove my point for me or would you just once trust me when I say that it's physically impossible to survive this drop?"

In EverQuest 2 my guild was trying to run people through all these different quests. I was a Ranger with a speed boost at the time, so they had me run people through a timed race. I found some people's PCs were too slow for them to keep up, so I had to find a shortcut. It was literally off a cliff. You had to be high enough level, or you wouldn't survive the fall. I probably could have found a better way, but I was intent on running everyone off the cliff.

I told you!" 😂
Ben, a rouge class, has automatic fall damage resistance.
i was fully expecting something along those lines. i noticed he was two levels lower and thought that would be the difference in hitpoints needed to survive.
Lol... Like every cliff in Skyrim if you're brave enough.
