Aaaah the sheer, gushing, warm and fuzzy nostalgia I have for that wonderful man and president of the United States!

You should have include the role of his VP, from the nomination trough the election, and Iran-Contras, to understand why he was know by.

Phil Silvers in Buona Sera Mrs Campbell does a great spoof of the Gipper speech when trying to convince his wife that a fake US Air Force captain existed.

If RR was born in 1911 he would have been only 30 when the US entered the war in 1941. In 1939 when Britain went to war the Hollywood based British actor David Nevin who was born in 1910 immediately left America to join up and was in DDay. My father born in 1914 was also in D Day.Fortunately for my father and David Nevin they returned. Many did not. RIP the greatest generation and thank you.

In a way we’re still influenced by the RR era. The foreign dept escalated during this era and just kept on rising

Not sure , but I think David Lloyd George was a member of a British version of the Disciples of Christ. LBJ , and James Garfield were also members. ( Garfield may have been considered Church of Christ .) Any way great podcast.

Re-phrasing my “brainless” comment: he was a Democrat when it suited him, and sold out to greed in the end. Trickledown was absurd and a sham.

Really not hard enough on Reagan, and ignoring his Central American devastation.

14:03 AND that a little bit, a tiny bit of that paradise still exists, but we're in the process of losing THAT! I'm a conservative, so I know.

Reagan is great as the gangster kingpin in Don Siegel’s The Killers.

Dominic writes so much about Americans but understands little about us Americans. We are optimistic at all times.

Reagan got excessive criticism by liberal Europeans and not enough gratitude for bringing down the iron curtain

African Americans made great economic and social progress, funding for AIDS research doubled each year from 1983 on, he believed strongly in immigrants keeping America young and vibrant, and his military build-up forced the Soviet Union to within sight of the finish line of the Western victory in the Cold War. Americans were more prosperous and more free when he left office than when he came into it. That doesn't sound like the death of a dream to me.

@@brian5001 the idea is it worked at the time to bring a new surge of wealth to America. The problem is the model hasn’t advanced since then

Reagan's policies were pretty good. It's fairly cheap to say Reagan was a terrible president with bad policies. No details, Tom?

      1) Tax cuts, 2) reduction of regulations.
