I have SAD, but also chronic pain with spicy fatigue and anxiety, so my strategy for seasonal depression is honestly the same as my strategy for getting through a day "on top" in general. The most important bit is I'll be kind to my exhausted self while I still have energy/the body to do it. Seasonal bad times coming? I'm stocking up on frozen veggies, rice/pasta and I'll be dicing and freezing meat in portion bags so a fast low effort meal will be healthier than let's say a pizza. Oatmeal and honey for 1minute effort breakfasts. Nuts and whatever berries are in reach will be stocked up on too so my snacking will be something other than chips.
Any chores that could wait until tomorrow? Well I got energy and the body to do it NOW so I'll do it now, just in case tomorrow doesn't look that good.
And then the habits it's taken me years to build: I'm leaving a room to go to another room, does anything here belong in the room I'm going to? I'll bring it. I'm done eating, I'll rinse off my plate right away. I have a master list of chores I'll take a peep at in case I haven't done something in a little too long. Like cleaning the shower doors. Deep cleaning the litterboxes. Cleaning the vents. Stuff that lays outside the normal everyday chores, but gnaw away at my subconcious if I don't do them and drain my energy.
I've also noticed that visual clutter drains me. Even if it's not actually mess. I can't have a lot of nicknacks because my brain sees it as mess, I can't have a ton of mismatching plates or keep all my mugs in the cabinet because my brain sees it as mess, I can't have open shelving for anything other than maybe books or decorative glasses because my brain sees it as mess. So I've become more and more minimalist by accident lmao. The plus side is it cuts down the time it takes to dust and clean surfaces by a lot.

My psych recommended a light therapy lamp in the fall/winter months. We don’t realize how much the lack of sun affects our mood. Just 30 minutes a day really helps. Another important supplement is Vitamin D. My doctor had my bloodwork done, and mine was really low. She gave me prescription supplements for a while, and now I take it OTC every day. It has helped a lot.
I’m hoping for a much improved season for you! You got this!! ❤
    And I love your sweatshirt!

I get the seasonal saddies too. My goal for this year is to get outside EVERY day - if only for 5 minutes, but ideal 30. Well See
