What I find the most interesting about this is that her tactical is nothing more than a repurposed Maggie drill, since it uses the same logic to go through solid objects. The ability itself is really interesting but the code for it has been in the game for a long while.

In programming there is a principle DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself), which this is honestly a perfect example of. I wouldn't be surprised if the drilling code now takes an exit object, for Maggie's drill it would be the flame, meanwhile for Alter it's the exit portal. With the exit object able to adjust it's position to a more suitable one if it's needed.
@@Yemto yeah, probably what happens is that the game remembers the start and exit point of the wall, in Maggie’s case it creates the drill fire on the exit location, while on Alter’s case it locates both portals on both points. It also seems to calculate rotation of the surfaces, creating the void rope when certain rotation conditions are met.
What’s interesting to me is that for Maggie what starts the process is a projectile, while on Alter’s case the character itself starts the process.
Alters ultimate also leaves a portal behind for other players to use, so for people saying the ult is op it really isnt, can easily have a team take the port and push a rez.

The portal stays open no matter if the ult gets taken down or not. Anyone that uses the void nexus will leave a temporary rift. Take it down n the rift will still be there. I've pushed through alters rifts when downing someone n they try to rez n squad wiped them even when she destroys her ult

Ash’s ult may be less useful now, but the fact that you can throw an arc star and a snare at the same time is insane
You can arc snare. Arc star, ult then arc snare again with another arc star

I feel like the counter for Mirage was activate all the brain cells you have. Like I know it wasn't their intent but I'm going who thought "Fuck, nerf Mirage already! Dude's OP!"
Well here I am to say that other not liked/bad legends also get nerfed. Like.. alter counters rampart (who am I kidding. When I'm seeing that Portal I'm shooting 100 rounds at whoever jumps thru.. but.. you get the point.. ea hates bad characters.)

Ive found that the tactical cooldown is the one i get since most times you either run out of the range before it is used or use it long before the time would go out
just to point out tho her unlimited ult uptime is good its nowhere near as strong as her tactical since most fights shouldn't take longer than 2 minutes because you would be dead by then by third parties her ult doesn't need more than 120 seconds of cooldown so eventhough infinite might seem like a crazy perk it doesn't really help at all and her tactical having only like 15 seconds cooldown is BROKEN
It’s like the Lifeline perk in the sense that she is able to have a tactical up forever

my friend had the idea to jump pad through an alter portal to see if you could still use the double jump and you can, could probable use in in a similar vein to the void jumping if you dont want to go directly up
I feel like the ult cooldown and the tactical cooldown are the best perks to choose since you're only able to use it once for each teammate, so no point in on being infinite is better to have it recharge quicker so then u can use it again. It's my opinion.
you can put portals directly on doors btw, just find a lower surface
you can do this in the firing range, go to the main building, under the tiny bridge and aim towards the wall with the door above it, keep moving till you see the exit portal show up on the door

Ash 1v1 is actually pretty good now since you can throw the tac while shooting, its basically a free 20 damage mid clip.

As an ash main she’s by no means useless her q is phenomenal now with perk upgrades. And the ability to use it with your weapon out she also has great scanning ability’s through her perks with her q tracking you for 60 seconds if it hits you and calling out nearby squads on a squad wipe. if her ult would come back a bit sooner she’d be in my opinion one of the strongest pure assault characters there is

@Harmonvl a 20+ damage grenade that you get every 15 seconds is definitely better than you think. You probably just suck at positioning and can't use her 🤡. The only counter to an ash snare is wraith.

One thing i have noticed and is quite annoying honestly, is that the horizontal distance for the portal to deploy it is significantly shorter than the vertical distance. I keep thinking that i can remove someone in front of me from cover but its range doesnt let u (im not talking about the depth of the portal btw)

Ash's Ult is a complete jokes compared to Wraith, Loba, and now Alter.
Doubling is a bit too much since you could travel a long distance just in some secs and would be too powerful for 3rd parties but it def needs to be longer

One thing i find weird about alter.. if ur healing or shielding and throw ur portal.. it cancels the heal. I dont understand. She uses her tail to make portals not her hands lol. As for which purple perk to get. Always get the ultimate perk. Unless ur playing solos. Then get the tactical perk. Pretty much the only time u really need the cd reduction is in solos
Heres a quick tip, if you have gold helm by the time you get purple upgrade, then you can go for -10 sec tac and always have it ready, otherwise just go with infinite nexus

It might get patched but teammates can also take her ult if it’s in range and you’re getting respawned
Also the thick wall 6:35 in worlds edge would be a perfect place to do a 180 tap strafe out of the portal then u bounce back into the portal. Enemies that follow wouldn’t be able to react quick enough or reach the height to go back.

The teleportation from the ult itself is okay for me, powerful but easily countered, when downed amd teleporting.. you're prone to getting thirsted and can be tailed
My issue with hers is how you can drop her ult, pop 2 ult accels and keep pushing a team, after a minute you'll have another ult to push another team again
I use the portal more offensively
for example, I am fighting a guy on a horizontal plane and he goes in cover I just place the portal on the cover where he is and 90% of the time I get them out of cover and manage to down them
I have a feeling they'll make Alters blue upgrades the -30 second ult and -10s tac and the purple ones the infinite ult and see recon after exiting tac.

For me the only thing that is bothering me about this season is the lag, I don’t know if it’s just me because I haven’t seen anyone complaining about it yet but every match i played was laggy as hell

Basicaly she is better kidnapper than wraith portal with her q and also her ult kinda reminds me of the old revenant totem rework since u can place the nexus void and push along on that radius...
And noted this one, u can also have a chance kidnapped someone with her ult portal and wait someone took the portal and get trapped on ur nexus void location since its 1 way portal...
That's can be useful for portal trolling stuff like i did on this season lmao....

Not really she is quite vulnerable and weak in open areas and doesn’t have any mobility or true strength. Even her strengths have huge flaws like the fact that enemies can take the ult portal right after you.

@@sato1707this is mostly true I was in a top 3 game and got caught in the open and could literally do nothing. I got pinched by both the last two players. If I had Gibraltar, ash, Bangalore, wraith and so on I could have escaped most likely. She is only good for close range dense areas.

It's only really a counter if the decoys are out before the q if used after its just guessing game for them as mirage main seeing an altar on another team is good cos they know they are my counter and will go for me first so i just hop through the same portal they came from ult and hop back in so now their team spraying all my decoys giving position away for my teammates and i can 1v1 the altar thats already confused about where i am
How do you go back to the alter ult once you've deployed it? I have tried every button possible but can't find it.

i think the other void sisters (ash and wraith) should get a small rework. if you really think about it, alter is just a loba, wraith, ash, and old rev combo. and shes better then all of them in some sense

Alter is situationally OP. Near buildings shes one do the best legends period.
Out in the open with no cover she is probably literally the worst legend as none of her kit works without a floor to go through or a wall to walk through. Her ult if you don’t place it outside of the open area, literally serves no purpose.
Her ult if placed behind cover can be used to recall, but it does not help if you have to cross an open field and you don’t have the option to TP back, ie, enemy team destroyer recall, ring is closing in on the recall point, etc.
I kind of like this.
In some situations she might be the best legend, but in some she will literally get you killed. It evens her out quite a bit.
The only thing I would like to see is a slight nerf on her tactical charge time. She gets it back way too quick with the perk for 10s less. I feel like it should be maybe 5s Or 7s less off
