    I am a 43 year old Disabled Veteran. My wife and I have been married for over 20 years. During that 20+ years, we tried just about everything we could afford. We had even been told that there is no reason we couldn’t. 2 years ago exactly our son was born. It was our 3rd and final IVF attempt. In fact it was our final straw. We just couldn’t afford to spend anymore money on what was seemed to be a lost cause. I love my little birthday boy. He’s just like me, loves anything with wheels. You guys will have unforeseen problems pop up, for an example I was using my Cain because I didn’t have access to my manual wheelchair. He was playing on his little push bike(he flys on that thing!!) and he saw his much older cousin rode don’t to his friends…. He took off chasing him down I couldn’t catch him, he was just too fast. Another issue for me is picking him up or holding him, sometimes even bending over… it all hurts and can leave me in bed for a few days after. I’m looking for a lightweight scooter that can drive in grass so I can keep up with him…. Also so I can go on walks with my wife and him. Best of luck and I hope your family dream comes true.

    Liz hit the mail on the head, nobody is ready to have kids. All you can do to be ‘ready’ is be committed to trying as hard as you can at something that you will never do as well as you want. Also, one of the best things you can do is to surround yourself with people who you can count on and who are your village, which is exactly what Shane and Hannah have done.

    • @lc4life369
      @lc4life369 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@user-ee4xj3om8u please dont tell me you think the veiwers are their village? Can you imagine all the hate watchers? Never surround your kid with a village of complete strangers. If you meant something else, my bad.

      @@lc4life369I took it that they were referring to Hannah’s family who are living with them. Agreed, I don’t think viewers (no matter how supportive) can be included in the child raising village.

      @mygirldarby ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@smidgelette I think you're right that they meant Hannah and Shane's families. I'm really hoping they don't make their children a central part of their channel. Kids can't choose to be a public figure and they deserve their privacy. I've watched youtube channels in which a couple has a TH-cam channel and once they have a child, it becomes all about the baby. The next thing you know the viewers want to know everything about the kid and the child becomes the "star" of the channel. It sadly happened to a channel called the Frey Life. They live off of their channel and so now their adopted son is bringing in big bucks. Everything from his first words, first step, etc, etc, is spotlighted on the channel. A child should not be the money maker in the family and their milestones really shouldn't be public fodder.

    • @smidgelette
      @smidgelette ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mygirldarby yeah, that’s a bit icky to make the children the centre. I don’t watch any of those family centred channels for the same reason(s). They both seem pretty sensible with good family around them. I can’t imagine them going to far with all that.

      Yes, but you grow into them living their own lives and making their own mistakes. It can be heartbreaking sometimes to see what they experience, but at the same time, we always feel grateful every year that we can be there for our adult children, if they want to talk, knowing that the reality is, we may not always be there. And as they get older we know that they have all the tools, they have grown in themselves and they will cope, just as we have. No matter how hard we try to protect our children, they all have their own special paths to follow.

      I imagine that’s why Shane and Hannah moved in with Liz, so that, as Grandmother, Liz would be the major caregiver for her grandchild. Hannah already has her hands full taking care of Shane plus taking care of all their household duties. She will be totally overwhelmed with the added duties of caring for a newborn. Her Mother, no doubt, will take on those responsibilities for Hannah. I had to do the same for my daughter when she gave birth to my granddaughter. She was Hannah’s age, busy taking care of her disabled boyfriend 💯 % as well as working two jobs to support them as well as taking full responsibility for caring for the household chores plus plus plus. It’s a ton of work for a young gal when she is 💯 % responsible for everyone and everything. Usually, in these type of circumstances, her Mother comes to save the day and ends up raising the children and taking care of the housework and cooking so that her daughter can focus on working full time to support her family.

      I had my son in the 80s when I was 28 after 8 years of marriage during which I had several miscarriages. When my son was in elementary school I was one of the older moms despite having had him when I was 28. The other mom's weren't unwed mothers..I guess women were becoming moms at early ages back then. It was weird to be considered an older mom of an elementary age child while only in my 30s. My 7 year old grandchild has friends with moms in their late 40s. Times really have changed.

      My mom was 36 when I was born and 38 when my sister was born. I’m now 37 which is exactly halfway between those two ages and therefore I’m almost exactly half my mother’s current age! (74…the ages don’t quite line up because my mother’s birthday is in April and mine is July). Amazing how time goes by.

    Treasure these times, guys. I lived on one side of a duplex of Mom and Dad's for 20 years. While it wasn't altogeather good, as I needed a kick in the pants to socialize more and manage my earnings better ( that was me, not them)- I was able to help raise my little adopted siblings, and time was precious as Dad passed suddenly, in a car accident. Mom began to have increasing problems with aging. Now travel is required to see each other.
