Caught up with @Chris Ramsay recently and he showed me one version of the famous BOOK TEST. A trick that makes it appear like you've memorized an entire book. He showed me the easy way (and then I actually went and did a memorized version of the trick). You tell me which is better!

Love the video! Did you ever watch the TH-cam video: Memorizing A WHOLE Book | MIND CONTROL | Derren Brown? I spent about 2 years searching online about how he actually did this trick but I could never find the answer, so eventually I gave up...I wonder if this is actually how he did it and now I feel stupid haha

Yes, I'm familiar with that demo. It's hard to say for sure what the trick is but I would bet that he is using SOME trick here and that it's not true memorization. Also, it's an edited video, so we can never really know the context in which the trick was done. Was the book truly randomly selected by the tester, was Derren checked for any earpieces or communication devices? etc. We'll never know.

Nelson, I am guessing that you used your PAO for the pages and just attached an image for the word on the page to that number's image. Is that right, or is there more to the technique?

Actually, no. I just had a location in a series of memory palaces to store every two pages.

I recently memorised a card stack (deck of cards position -> card and card -> position, it was such an interesting process and so insightful into what the human mind is capable of)
