Saturday 22nd June 2024 saw the new Edinburgh Garrison Major WO1 David Hunter of The Scots Guards take charge of The Armed Forces Day Parade. Good to meet you today David!
The Edinburgh Garrison seems to go through these fellows at a great clip, Jim. What happened to his immediate predecessor, Warrant Officer Class One Ruaridh Tuach ? (Such a great name!) This smartly turned out Scots Guardsman would seem to have a pair of lungs capable of bringing the worst laggard up short as well as an affable manner that suggests underlying good humour - qualities likely indispensable for such an exacting job. A good man to have in your corner, Jim, when you're out and about with your gear.
@@JimRamsayJWR Gathered that. Hope the private sector rewards the sterling attributes you and others so readily saw in him when he was in Edinburgh. Big loss to the Scots Guards. Life's vagaries are hard to credit.
@1:20 Photographer asks: "whats your first name again?" RSM replies: "SIR!!" 🤣(the old sweats will understand)

Promoted to Captain in 2 Scots
He sounded very Scottish 😮
@@JimRamsayJWR Good for him! He got a commission then - the prize that eluded the capable and personable Tony Gibson.
@@e.chambers2973 Great news indeed for Ruarie! Tony is a man in a million!

Another one?
I told God I wanted Sunshine today....lol.... Well-done Sir.
Didn’t they not long ago change to a GSM from the Royal Regiment of Scotland?
Pretty rapid changeover indeed , good seeing it being a jock guard though again haha
@@RossKyle95 Speaking to him yesterday he is no Jock!
Yes about a year ago. I hear the outgoing GSM has been promoted to Captain!
@@JimRamsayJWR he is very clearly a jock Guard haha aka Scots Guard
@@RossKyle95 I get that but I don't think he is a Scot
Shame he's a short one!!!
Why does the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland sometimes wear glengarrys and sometimes busbys?
They never wear Busbys. It’s either the Glengarry or the Feathered Bonnet. Maybe depends on the formality of the parade but I don’t really know.
Now I know the answer to that one as I asked yesterday
Was going to be too warm to do the 30 min set with busby on!
@@JimRamsayJWR Feathered Bonnet, Jim. Busbys are for Hussars or Royal Horse Artillery.
