    What's funny about the "golden" nug being red is that the test for purity in the middle ages was heating. If it turned heated red, it was pure, so "red gold" was another name for pure gold.

    Bioware goes hard on all the codex material that you might bypass completely. The Dragon Age world is full of backstory and lore and little details and so is Mass Effect. One of my favourite things to do in Mass Effect is read all the planetary descriptions. All the planets in that series could theoretically exist and all the detail work that goes into those games is just SO awesome. Not to mention all the Easter eggs hidden throughout, lol.

    • @cygnata
      @cygnata 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      One of those easter eggs is in the description for Mackay's Epic Single Malt, in the Bottles of Thedas quest. "This whisky is older than the Maker and smoother than elven baby-butt." In Baldur's Gate, the innkeepers like to say their "inn is as clean as an elven arse."

    • @jackson14431
      @jackson14431 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the exceptionally fun lore tends to come from the strangest places. For example the kingdoms of amalur and dragon age crossover armours for mass effect because they both elude to the Earth Urban Combat Championship which pits top of the line combatants and equipment against eachother with a fantasy-style theme to each team who share their region with the developers of either game.

    The World of Thedas volume 2 book includes recipes- some jokes, some actually great. One is a recipe for making dandelion wine. Another is a recipe for a banana bread that is sweetened with molasses- that recipe is specifically what I've been using for banana bread ever since the book came out, its that good. So honestly I'm not actually surprised that the drink recipes are all pretty spot on as well- whoever they are hiring for their food and drinks knows what they are doing.

    FINALLY!!! My all-time favorite game series!!! Also, the dragon age series had soooooo much more to it beside the romances, like trying to slay at least 10 high dragons and sobbing while trying to do so. But in all seriousness, the worldbuilding is absolutely amazing throughout the series and the little tidbits of lore that hide in the codex entries are *chef's kiss*. Does that mean I'm going to stop fantasizing about 2 himbo chantry boys with enough emotional damage to strangle a dragon? Hell no. Does that mean I'll ever stop siding with mages over templars? Also no.
