Lots of cocktails I like are heavy on bitterness so they utterly need some sort of sugar. Things like Last Words and Negronis. Gin and tonic I love but it need that lime juice (which I know is also bitter and mainly acidic but yeah, a tiny bit of sugar goes a long way).

Hey, something to consider for the Whiskey Salty if it ever comes up again (or if you ever need/want to mess around with salty flavors in a cocktail again. Salted Caramel perhaps?) there is a liqueur from scandinavia/Finland called salmiakki. It's a licorice liqueur flavored with Ammonium Chloride, and apparently has a salty flavors, as well as being dry/tannin-y. I can't think of many other salty liqueurs, so maybe it's something to have in the liquor cabinet just in case you're feeling weird? I've never had it, but it can't possibly be worse than Campari or Malort.

    • @ellalella1

Licorice liqueur is not uncommon in Scandinavia, there is one made from a pepper and salty licorice candy, basically that candy put in a bottle of vodka to dissolve or an extract from them mixed with vodka. Fun video! Thankyou for entertaining us with your pain!
    Two thoughts:
    1) While not a spin on a sour, the Whiskey Salty could be a dirty whiskey martini. No doubt olive juice and whiskey would be terrible (probably?), but since picklebacks are a thing, maybe sub the olive juice for a salty pickle brine?
    2) I would gone to Brennivín for the Death on the Beach: "Black Death," the Icelandic angelica schnapps. Like nasty, nasty gin. Probably not an improvement, though.

I only realized it when my dad asked me to pour him a rum and coke. (The wire flame arrestor gave it away. It was all down bottle after that.) Needless to say, I didn't have a long island ice tea. I had a five mile island iced tea. I also had a ride to my parent's house and would be picking up my truck from my aunt's house the next day. There is more to the story and events later that night, but that's a tale for another video.

I missed this request, so maybe y'all can help me with the joke drink my friends and I have been trying to perfect: the Tom Cummings.
I'm a huge fan of Tom Collins. One evening, while making myself one, a friend misspoke and called it a "Tom Cummings". Everyone got a laugh out of it, but then started debating what would make a Tom Collins become such a thing. The only thing we agreed on was that the final product should be white or semi-translucent white, so that it imitated the look of... well, y'know. Potentially, if it ended up getting thicker or slimier, that would be acceptable too.
Some ideas people came up with were:
    1. Mix something into the club soda to make it foggy, such as sugar or potentially cornstarch.
    2. Modify the recipe so that it has an egg white, making it closer to a White Lady.
    3. Use Calpico, either in place of the club soda or in place of the lemon juice/simple syrup.
    4. Convert it to a pudding or Jello shot, just accepting that it is no longer obviously connected to the original Tom Collins.
I've been experimenting with these options to create the ideal Tom Cummings, but I haven't quite found the flavor profile that satisfies me. It is my white whale. Help would be appreciated.
