Do the "How to Drink Yearly Rewind" where every December, you do a series of long form videos going over your favorite drinks from the year. Favorite gaming drinks, favorite twists on a classic, etc etc. Should be a slam dunk series.
You must make an awful drink prominently featuring the Cock'n Bull. And you must call it... well, you know what I'm gonna say here. We need to know what a Cock'n Bull Torture would taste like.
Wait, "don't have the files?" We need to know which ones so we can archive them from TH-cam. ( For when we eventually publish our pirate versions of your cocktail book).
As a non-drinker and big fan of your channel, I'd personally really enjoy a compilation of your best non-alcoholic drinks. Based on your reaction to it I assume the Double Death Commando will be there, but I'd love to see more! Hopefully enough people also want this to make it a worthwhile video, haha
Surprised the Noble Pursuit from Breath of the Wild didn't make the list. Not surprised the Johnny Silverhand did, though. I mean, heck...THAT drink got imported into the game proper and CDPR even sent Greg a cool rocks glass from the Afterlife to use! BTW, CDPR? Sell those glasses as merch. You will make a mint.
i also wanted to say that somehow the drink is super thematically appropriate for Johnny, a dark and enticing drink that can threaten to overwhelm you if your not prepared but its well layered and compelling.
Honestly, one of my favorites you’ve done was the Phoenix Down you made for an Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia sponsorship. I even gave it to my mom and she loved it to death
Your Estus Flask video is actually what got me to try alcohol in the first place. I didn’t get the appeal at all before but after seeing that video, I’ve since become incredibly fascinated with mixology and have been making drinks for friends and family for nearly 3 years now. Thank you for the amazing content Greg!
I like these retrospective eps. Over the many years I've watched, you've changed a lot of the go-to spirits, tools, and techniques you'll use in the show. I think a cool ep would be to talk about what of all these have withstood the test of time for you. You've tried a lot of things over the years (homemade orgeat, herb preservation tools/techniques, different base spirits, different sponsored and unsponsored mixing tools, etc), but regardless of what new hotness gets published, produced, or marketed, what are things you always go back to doing or using when making mixed drinks?
I'm going to embarress myself if I already commented this on the original video but. . . . . I was once told by a Person that used to work in the print industry for whisky labeling that there's a region in Japan called Scotland. Specifically named so they could write on their own bottles made in Scotland but it's entirely produced in Japan. Its something of a funny backhanded compliment to think the title of Scotland is highly reveared that they would go to such lengths to have it on their botles.
Considering how many of those drinks flagrantly violate physics, causality, and/or narrative consistency, it'd certainly be an interesting flavour profile!
as an aside "para bellum" literally means "prepare for war"-- the 9mm parabellum is named for the phrase "si vis pacem para bellum"-- if you would wish for peace, prepare for war.
My favourite drinks were the CP2077 ones, cause they came with lore and a genuine interest from your side. They also happened to be the ones that got me to sub eventually.
I still maintain you missed a key part in the tincture of queensfoil, the in game substance is said to taste like the queens favorite blackberry tea which is the reason for the name, and there's clear blackberry vodkas you could've used in place of the Citron
Lol I found you in highschool and have seen every episode except for 2-3 “gross drink” episodes because it grosses me out. Love this channel. The og videos feel like a club if you’ve seen them organically.
I actually found out about Akashi like 6 years ago after a trip to China and has since been one of my favourite Whisky's of all time due to it's smoothness and subtle red berry aftertaste
I've never been one to drink but this channel, hearing all the flavors and how they work together, makes me want to get into drink mixing. You make this seem so special!
Love this concept. I have jumped to different episodes trying to find either a recipe or discussion about a drink/item/technique. Ex. You mentioned a simple, non alcohol, fizzy drink with bitters. With that said, I love long videos, but than no pay bills, lol. So I would probably edit down the longer ones so maybe 3 or 4 drinks per 20 min episode. You know better than me. That way, multiple episodes can be made into a Playlist for bingers like me. You can also link the original videos to drive traffic back to those.
Made the Sunset Parabellum tonight after an intense work week. Woah, you're right that Mr. Black and Chartreuse play nicely together! It was such an unusual combination that I would not have come up with. That recipe is a keeper for sure. Will be making it again. Thanks for the great channel and recipes.
Do you have an episode using the different flavors of hot peppers? I made a habanero simple syrup that I use a lot in summer drinks but would like to see what you could come up with.
I just had a dream where a HTD videogame existed in the form of a Gameboy bootleg with 20 bootleg games on it and then a game drink compilation releases. lmao.
Really enjoying the Jackie Welles. Using a Honey Whisky like Jack or Jim Honey works well. Still trying to find Irish mist. But I mix it half vodka half honey. Then to the near top with ginger beer and whole lime (with pulp) to the top. Mix and serve. The honey comes out and Ginger lime is refreshing.
Awesome Video! Hey, maybe you could make a vid with bottle recommendations for a well equipped and versatile bar (beginner , intermediate and advanced Level). I love your recipes, but the sheer amount of possible choices for whiskey, rum, etc is overwhelming, and budget- and space restrictions make it really difficult to buy stuff. I am too afraid to buy a bottle for 30 bucks or more just to learn, that it only works for one specific recipe or not at all 😅
when you said you had been doing this for 7 years, I was like what!!?? Because I know I discovered you around your 4th vid.... so I have been watching you for 7 f*ckining years! are you kidding me!!! 🙃😵💫
could be the dark souls lover in me but estus was just brilliant, sir. one time i was out of pisco and subbed it with spiced rum and it was divine! definitely a top 5 cocktail for me.
Okay I did a small amount of research and found the perfect yellow additive for the Cyber Punk cocktail. Snowy River Yellow cocktail Glitter! it’s neon yellow! great video Greg!
Always enjoy the drinks you concoct! If I may make a suggestion for a theme episode, how about, since hollywood is adamant of making remakes & reboots, why not do the same with your drinks? If you could go back and "remake" a drink which one(s) would you do? I think it would be a fun idea.
I think some melted licorice will coagulate and if you poke it with a stirrer before it fully cools it will make tendrils but, I know not many people like black licorice and it won't be part of the drink really, because it will just coagulate there on top. But it's interesting to see if we can try being more complex about these.
for the Queens Foil, you could also take a syringe of the bitters and draw the lines yourself as you inject it into the drink in the same motion as drawing the syringe out
I keep seeing the Johnny Silverhand you make there at the end and always want to try making it but cannot find a beer even close to that in style! Hope I will be able to try it someday!
If there's a real-world approximation of krogan ryncol, it's the chinese booze my parents brought me in '97. Tasted vile and bringing it to Finland was almost definitely illegal. The only incongruent thing was that despite drinking the whole bottle within an hour (and everything else that I drank that night), I had no hangover. Actually felt better than I had for months.
Can you please try to make some good cocktails with the 3 bottles that Ubisoft released for the Assassin's Creed 15th anniversary. Thank you, I love your videos.
For the Full Biotic Kick, maybe using "Canada Dry Bold" ginger ale (sweet, extra ginger flavor than their regular ginger ale, but not as strong as Ginger Beer - as if you mixed half the regular ginger ale with half the ginger beer) instead of the one you used might help.
Midori is flavoured with two different muskmelon cultivars; the Yubari canteloupe and the netted muskmelon (what North Americans would probably recognize as just plain "canteloupe", but technically, it isn't a canteloupe, let alone _the_ canteloupe. I love foods like that.)
One drink of love to see you make is the martini that Bayonetta drinks at the beginning of the first game. I've tried a number of combinations over the years but nothing ever comes out feeling/tasting right.
I have a recipe for a game cocktail based on the game Maneater: A Maneater's Vengeance 1 Oz lime juice 1/2 Oz Dark Cherry Rubarb syrup 1 Oz Diplimatico Aged Light Rum 1 Oz Pillar's Light Rum 1/2 Oz Plantation 3 Star Shake over a whole and cracked cube of ice for 20-30 seconds or until the cracked ice has dissolved. Then serve over crushed ice with an optional float of Plantation OFTD or Pillar's Dark Rum or Pillar's Limited Edition Sherry Caske finish Rum. And garnish with a lime peel twist.
@howtodrink Do you think you could do an episode for drinks of Lance Reddick's most iconic roles? Commander Zavala from Destiny, Sylens from the Horizon series, Charon from John Wick and others. I started following because it really intrigued me in your process to making some of these drinks. And I would love to drink something that will always remind me of our late great commander. Rest in the light Commander Reddick. We guardians will continue to fight for the Last City, your city till the last man.
for the dark lines in the thicc blue drink, would it not work to use either a thin straw or a pipette to start the bitters at the bottom and dispense as you pull it up through the drink? I feel like that would give a more precise and defined tendril-y look to them, there's less agitation, and you don't get a mud puddle of bitters at the top
Perhaps you don't count Nacht der Untoten because it lacked the perk abilities, but the zombie game mode shipped with World at War. If you beat the campaign, an extra level appeared where you could fight the undead by yourself or in coop.
On Midori being Apple-ish, absolutely once you add the lemon to it. You can make a very passable college bar/night club Sour Apple Martini with just Vodka, Midori and homemade Sour mix.
Gutted no chance of The Last Abbey beers over here in UK especially now the brewery has downsized. Any recommends for a suitable alternatives. Belgian beers good for strength but will the herbal elements interfere? There must be anothert Agave Tequila barrel aged beer out there
I made the Johnny Silverhand at our 4th of July party. Everyone wanted one! It was a HUUUUUGE hit. When you serve it, you have to say “You’re Breathtaking”
Interesting fact, in destiny2 there is a drink called an ether fizz made by the fallen, no in-game visual, but this lore was added after how to drink made one, just look up destiny2 ether fizz on TH-cam for some of the lines
So, this is a neat idea, and I get that re-using the same footage is a time saving thing and must be a nice break/slot filler, but it would be much cooler if you revisited aomea of these old drinks now that you've got more time behind the bar and more experience
Have you thought about making an actual e-book, or an actual bar guide, for making syrups, listing flavor profiles, and bar drinks through the ages. You have created alot of unique drinks that are worthy of note. I mentioned an e-book, so you could update it with new recipes, new ingredients, newly produced liquor brands, and even combos that work well together. You could even add a section called Try at Your Own Risk, for failures...
ELDARVARIAN KING'S THRONE COCKTAIL 1 & 1/2 oz. of Eldarvarian whiskey ( Shackleton 1855 ) 0.5 oz of Eldarvarian Honey Wine ( any honey wine will do ) 1.2 oz of Elderflower Liqueur 2 oz of Eldarvarian Sugar syrup ( simple syrup ) 1.2 oz of Bitters ( Angastour bitters ) 1.5 oz of citric acid ( a slice of lemon or lime will also do )
Here's another Game based drink you could do: Drinks based on the show RvB which takes place in the Halo universe. You could do drinks based on the Reds, Blues and Freelancers.
I made your Animal Crossing Vacation Juice for a summer family party and everyone loved it. They didn't even need to know that it was from Animal Crossing. They just understood "Oh yeah, that's Vacation Juice".
Sadly, a few of my favorites actually couldn’t wind up in this because I don’t really have the files anymore, I think I may need to start doing an annual version of this maybe.

@@watata1t I think one was the Ambrosia from _Hades_ considering the glowing description he gave of it at the time.
Pour one out for Lance Reddick. He voiced Commander Zavala in Destiny for 9 years.
If you’re playing the game, there’s this thing going ‘round to do up your character in Vanguard shaders for remembrance.
Indeed.
And Thordak the ancient red dragon in Vox Machina
And Sylens in the Horizon Zero Dawn franchise.
We definitely need “the Commander” as a drink.

im not sure but i think greg might be pretty proud of his cyberpunk series
I mean the guy has become a legend in night city. He did make the johnny silverhand drink. The best terrorist themed drink in the world

That sounds like the opposite of the intended effect, good thing it gives Raise status.
Hopefully the drink "died" and not your mom.
Love these compilations
You should absolutely play and make drinks from Deep Rock Galatic

Dude, the editing on that intro was fantastic.
This episode made me think about Disco Elysium again. What a truly legendary game, and a perfect candidate for this show.

Perhaps a show on the Canadian Bloody Caesar…there must be 10+ different types of Clamato you could try…with or without different types of toppers.

I still think you should reach out through Brennan and make your Critical Role Drinks for the Critical Role Cast... just saying...
I wonder if HTD could do a video for a few fun and easy drinks that you could do for college party that would turn out to be a great hit!

I've been loving your stirred Cosmo Canyon recipe this week.
Really enjoying the Jackie Welles. Using a Honey Whisky like Jack or Jim Honey works well. Still trying to find Irish mist. But I mix it half vodka half honey. I first found your channel with your Sunset Sarsaparilla New Vegas drink. Still the one i really want to try to make on my own one of these days.
Always enjoy the drinks you concoct! If I may make a suggestion for a theme episode, how about, since hollywood is adamant of making remakes & reboots, why not do the same with your drinks? If you could go back and "remake" a drink which one(s) would you do? I think it would be a fun idea.
My favorite of your gaming drinks episodes was the one on Hades. I'm not at all a drinker but I want to try all of those.
If this ends up being a series you should call it “Remixed” or something like that
Im personally a little my favorite drinks did not make it in to the list but still great video either way and watching these brings a smile to my face
I really liked your Sunset Sarsaparilla video as well, though I'm biased because I also love Fallout New Vegas

Side note: While the perk-a-colas were introduced in map pack 2 with verruckt, the zombies game mode started in the base game with nacht der untoten.
I have a recipe for a game cocktail based on the game Maneater:
A Maneater's Vengeance
1 Oz lime juice
1/2 Oz Dark Cherry Rubarb syrup
1 Oz Diplimatico Aged Light Rum
1 Oz Pillar's Light Rum
1/2 Oz Plantation 3 Star
Shake over a whole and cracked cube of ice for 20-30 seconds or until the cracked ice has dissolved.
Then serve over crushed ice with an optional float of Plantation OFTD or Pillar's Dark Rum or Pillar's Limited Edition Sherry Caske finish Rum. And garnish with a lime peel twist.

Verrückt is German for "crazy" or "insane"

for the dark lines in the thicc blue drink, would it not work to use either a thin straw or a pipette to start the bitters at the bottom and dispense as you pull it up through the drink? I feel like that would give a more precise and defined tendril-y look to them, there's less agitation, and you don't get a mud puddle of bitters at the top
