I had heavy periods, pain all the time, it actually hurt when I poked my stomach. Doctors wanted me to go in for surgery and when I asked prognosis, they said there was nothing I could do and I would be back in 6-12 months to do it all over again. I couldn't accept that, researched online and figured I'd try a plant based low oil diet. I didn't have a weight issue, but if you are storing excess belly fat this can increase hormones as well. I am not perfect but honestly, pain has gone away. I had severe menstrual cramps my whole life, wish I knew this sooner (I figured it out at 49 yrs). :( If you have issues, it is worth a try

    • @Ariel-oo1nc
      @Ariel-oo1nc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here is some nonsense backed by Research. Plant polyphenols found in Coffee, Green Tea, Wine, and every common vegetable inhibit Iron Absorption to some degree. I think the mistake that many Vegans make regarding Meat is that they assume all types are created equal, and that Red Meat is super bad. Even in the plant kingdom, there are varying degrees of bioavailability. I hope these studies shed some light on your experience.
      *Associations between Red Meat Intakes and the Micronutrient Intake and Status of UK Females: A Secondary Analysis of the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey*
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5537882/
      " *Females consuming less than 40 g total red meat daily were more likely to have micronutrient intakes below the Lower Reference Nutrient Intake* (LRNI) for zinc, iron, vitamin B12 and potassium and have lower habitual vitamin D intakes than females consuming between 40 and 69 g daily. After adjusting data for energy intake, zinc (% below the LRNI) and vitamin D (μg/day) remained statistically significant (p < 0.001)."
      *Bioactive dietary polyphenols inhibit heme iron absorption in a dose-dependent manner in human intestinal Caco-2 cells*
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3306181/
      "Our previous study revealed that (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) and grape seed extract (GSE) markedly inhibited intestinal heme iron (animal-based) absorption by reducing the basolateral iron export in Caco-2 cells. The aim of this study was to examine whether small amounts of EGCG, GSE, and green tea extract (GT) could inhibit heme iron absorption, and to test whether the inhibitory action of polyphenols could be offset by ascorbic acid."
      *Review on iron and its importance for human health*
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3999603/
      "... *although low iron intake and/or bioavailability are responsible for most anemia in industrialized countries* , they account for only about half of the anemia in developing countries ... other nutrient deficiencies (vitamin A, riboflavin, folic acid, and vitamin B12) are also important causes.[8]" Note, most of the World's population is Vegetarian due to Economic status
      "[32] Heme iron [animal-based] is highly bioavailable (15%-35%) and dietary factors have little effect on its absorption, whereas nonheme iron (plant-based) absorption is much lower (2%-20%) and strongly influenced by the presence of other food components.[23] … [33] Major inhibitors of iron absorption are phytic acid [beans, nuts, seeds], polyphenols [resveratrol], calcium, and peptides from partially digested proteins (low stomach acid).[23]”

    • @carinaekstrom1
      @carinaekstrom1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Ariel-oo1nc And if you are a whole plants vegan you will likely eat a lot of vitamin C which will increase iron absorbtion. Studies done on meat eaters who eat less meat and more bread or coffee is not what we are talking about or recommending. We recommend whole fruits and vegetables, beans, nuts and seeds, etc,.

    • @Ariel-oo1nc
      @Ariel-oo1nc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carinaekstrom1 Actually, if you read through the study, they say that Vitamin C only affects Iron Absorption to a point - and that consuming high levels of Polyphenols negates the effects of Vitamin C. Vitamin C only works against Polyphenols when they are used in small doses. I used to eat large salads everyday, using at minimum 1 lemon + vitamin C rich vegetables and struggled with bleeding Gums.
      After removing all plants from my Diet, my bleeding Gums (aka Gingivitis / Scurvy) has gone away. I used to be plant-based, getting my protein from Meat. Now I realize how misguided I was about Meat. It is a complete Nutrient source.

      Probably no one? Plant polyphenols found in Coffee, Green Tea, Wine, and every common vegetable inhibit Iron Absorption to some degree. The aim of this study was to examine whether small amounts of EGCG, GSE, and green tea extract (GT) could inhibit heme iron absorption, and to test whether the inhibitory action of polyphenols could be offset by ascorbic acid."

      @@orpheusowlallearthlingsmat6076 I wouldn't say this. The fact is that b12 is made by bacteria that can live in our intestines - is just that usually it lives in a portion that cannot absorve the vitamin, making this fact useless. You may have a slitghtly different anatomy (happens a lot) that benefits you with the possibility of absorption. Also there is contact with soil etc and other stuff that have yet to be discovered about this b 12 producing colonies. There are vegans since circa 1800 and vegan communities like Adventists for centuries, before we even knew about b12. But most people certainly become deficient, even non vegans - this condition is rampant and easily observed in medical practice. Also important to have exams because some symptoms take long to show and advisable for new vegans (and meat eaters too) to take it since most will really have problems.

    Back in 2012 I started watching The Biggest Loser and I kinda liked her. Got a couple of her programs and downloaded her podcast.
    There she said stuff like "I tried being vegetarian but I got sick", "I love animals but...", I think she said something about watching Earthlings? I don't know. Anyway, at some point, still talking about meat, how it should be organic, and once a week or every two weeks would suffice, she says "veal? Really?". That got me thinking and I quit veal immediately. I understood what she meant and why it was wrong.
    I still thought I was gonna get sick if I stopped eating dead animals, but then I also used my brain and thought "if others can be vegetarians, so can I". And well, when you learn what you support when you buy animal products you know you need to stop.
    I am not gonna lie and say I did it overnight. I still needed 9 months and I find it a shame because it is easy as fuck if you are open and ask for help. Fb groups didn't come to mind back then for some reason.
    Anyway, June 2013 was the last time I willingly consumed anything that comes out of an animal and I am still alive.
    My cholesterol as a meat eater was 224 mg/dl back in 2012. Now 140. I ate meat at pretty much every meal. Why was I anaemic and now I am not?

      *Associations between Red Meat Intakes and the Micronutrient Intake and Status of UK Females: A Secondary Analysis of the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey*
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5537882/
      " *Females consuming less than 40 g total red meat daily were more likely to have micronutrient intakes below the Lower Reference Nutrient Intake (LRNI) for zinc, iron, vitamin B12 and potassium and have lower habitual vitamin D intakes than females consuming between 40 and 69 g daily.

      Well, the first article is written by Emma Derbyshire who gets her funding from meat-based food companies. She was outed after writing an opinion piece about vegans being deficient in choline even though she had no research to support it. So I hope you can understand why I don't trust her as an unbiased researcher.
      The second article is just talking about the impairment of heme iron when eating polyphenols which is not relavent to vegan nutrient absorption considering vegans don't eat heme iron (unless they're eating the impossible burger).
      The last article mentions twice that vegetarianism could be a cause of anemia, but they don't do any research investigating that claim, nor do they cite any studies that show that vegetarianism is a large cause of anemia. So I don't really think the third article has relavence to vegetarian/vegan status and a link with anemia.

    Ok here's my story, I was sick for many years, I was given the triple therapy antibiotics with Omeprazole when I had a massive h pylori infection which took 7 months to even diagnose, the GI found it not the hospital I went to for excessive vomiting and thats actually when I started feeling horrible, after the medicine, I've seen all the specialist (cardiologist, nose ears and throat, brain, breathing, etc) for my symptoms of heart palpitations, difficulty breathing, dizziness, feeling faint, felt like I was having a heart attack for 2 almost 3 years, I was also unable to work for 2 years being bed ridden after losing my job ( in the R&D department for a water company as an engineering assistant) due to my illness, ok this is where I might lose some of you, I got extremely desperate because I wanted to have a normal life again after suffering sooo much with no answers from "doctors", I decided to contact a local psychic to see if I would survive this beating haha, he ended up doing a reading on me with the basic readings like career, love, family and health, when he did my health reading he immediately told me that my digestive system wasn't working properly and that my blood was bubbling and not filtering properly ( he advised me that he wasn't a doctor but that this was what he saw), I almost burst into tears knowing someone can see my suffering and that I wasnt alone on this anymore, he then proceeded to tell me that if I continued the diet I was on, (which was the Mediterranean diet eating meats once a day) that I would have many complications and that it would ultimately lead to heart failure, I then asked ok what's the solution that you can see working for me and immediately told to me you have to do the vegan diet and give it 110 percent, that this will bring you back to life and that you will be able to achieve many things if you go down this route aswell as a long life, so happy to report its only been about a month since the reading and switching to the vegan diet and I'm feeling soo much better I'm almost crying, I know I'm a dude and I'm supposed to be tough but that just tells you how bad I really had it, that I'm finally feeling normal again, I know I still have a hill to climb but I can definitely see the top of it now :) , thank you for taking your time to read this it really means alot to me , I hope you and your families have a blessed holiday season :)

Of course,as I've said before,she could have a disease/illness/syndrome that causes her very low weight,and even if it's something of the mind,It still means she's unwell. I’ve noticed a few dermatologist suggested to get dairy products out of your diet and even sort of suggested plant based may actually be healthier for the skin 🤷🏻‍♀️. Also didn’t her coworker or copartner suffer a heart attack, and it seemed he was eating many eggs per week 🤔?
    Yeah her advice seems off and just dangerous to me.
    Oh and one more point. I was veg for well over 18 yrs before I went vegan and never was I ever anemic. Ok so I ate eggs 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. Well when I became vegan 8 years ago I’ve been getting blood work annually for 8yrs, never ever was I anemic or b12 deficient (yet everyone assumed I was anemic, when I mentioned any of the v words).
    Yet woman that I worked with who ate tons of animal products were either anemic or b12 deficient, the one girl (she was young too) had to get b12 shots every month or two I think she said. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      Y She does blame her former coworker, Bob Harper,‘s heart attack on the keto diet and CrossFit ( he had a heart attack during a crossfit class). These are two things she frequently talks negatively about on her podcast, in addition to veganism. I recall her commenting on the amount of butter or full fat dairy he was eating prior to the heart attack (I guess that’s a thing keto eaters prioritize over carbs?). She frequently shits on veganism without giving facts or real evidence behind it, as witnessed in this video. She always backs it up with the „Ive never met a doctor promote it“ bullshit. What I actually think the issue is, is that she failed to thrive on a vegan diet and therefore thinks it’s bad. She said she’s tried being vegan at 3 different times in her life and struggled to make it work for her. Just because it didn’t work for her and she didn’t feel healthy or look healthy, she deemed it „bad“ and therefore steers her audience away from it. She’s an ego maniac and has to be the best and if she’s not excelling at something, she hates it. I’ve listened to her podcast since she started it way back in 2009, and she’s been getting more and more out of touch, sadly. The thing that bugs me the most is that she doesn’t encourage her audience to read the science and make their own decisions for their own bodies. she just immediately directs people to grassfed, organic animal products because that’s what she likes and that works for her. It’s quite maddening really.

    She's a little oddball she can't even sit for 5 seconds without contorting her face and forcing out weird inflections in the tones of her voice. Trying a little hard with that iron maiden shirt to. It's like yeah you might like the band but for a video it's obvious you made sure to wear it.

    She’s probably getting paid to say this, other than that, why would she care? Does she think she is helping us to live a better life to start eating meat, eggs?? Makes me think because how many followers she has to be paid by the meat industry??🤣🤣 who knows.. kinda odd. Smh 🤦🏼‍♀️

      SDG: Humans that are herbivores by nature do not exist. Our digestive tract is rather carnivorous than herbivorous. All in all, we are omnivores. Watch this video: th-cam.com/video/Yg0Ojxyc0PI/w-d-xo.html
      Also, the ADA is biased. Read this article: articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2016/09/25/veganism.aspx
      There is no such Thing as a human herbivore.
