great video! I cannot believe how much this improved playability more than just lubing. I've been yo-yoing for about 5 months and acquired about 15 throws, did this to all of them and it fixed yo-yos that had vibe, loud bearings, low spin times and everything its like a whole new collection. :)
shake it in a pill jar works much better. And you don't get all the fumes. I just put 3/4 mineral spirits 1/4 three in one oil. I use that as my cleaner and lube. good video though just saying my method.
thank you so much for all tutorials Yotricks. I was wondering do I de- shield both sides of the bearing to clean it or just one? also do u happen to know if thin lube goes bad after a while? I've had my thin lube bottle for almost 4year
My responsive yoyo began to only sleep for a few seconds, so I cleaned it using the first method in the video, and now it spins great! However, my yoyo isn't (reliably) responsive anymore. I'm 90% certain it's because I haven't lubed it (I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail), but I want to confirm my suspicions. Thoughts? Also, I think it's great that you reply to all the comments. Not all youtubers with channels your size can keep up with this many!
Thanks. This was the video I was looking for. Had trouble with nearly all my bearings and normal cleaning didn't make it better. Paper method rescued them and saved me a lot of money. Awesome video !!
GerTodesengel I'm glad it worked for you. When I was first shown this method I was amazed by how well it worked. The longer you can keep your bearings working the better, I say!
second, I would to know if Oracle yoyo need a hard maintained check up if in one day I play loop the loop for 100 counts. you see, every spinner has it owns specialty in yoyo tricks & I found that my specialty is Loop the loop 'cause I like to count how many I can make. so the question is if every day i play loop the loop for about 100 counts loop, do I need to change the strings, or to clean the bearing or lube the bearing very often? or could you recommend a good looping yoyo that doesn't need check ups very often..
+Gunslinger Syayo If you lube the oracle and put on a new string you should be able to get several thousand loops before you will need to lube the yoyo again or restring it. It is not a high-maintenance yoyo.
There is no point in lubing the bearing before cleaning it, because the cleaning will just remove the lube. That being said, no, nothing bad will happen.
+yotricks I just got a yyf shutter and a day ago it suddenly started playing responsive. It makes a grinding noise. I've cleaned my bearing several times but it's only unresponsive for about 20 mins then it just smacks my hand because it goes responsive. How can I make it unresponsive for a good long time?
Hello! Thanks a lot for the video, it is extremely useful. But, I have a Colossus 3 from topyo and suddenly, it started making a really loud noise. I bought it yesterday, and it is very difficult to open the yoyo. What should I do to stop the bearing from making that sound?
+Joel Oelze You should be able to push the bolt right through the yoyo so that the cap pops off. Once you have replaced the bolt you can push the cap back into place.
Do you do the same thing for a responsive barring pleas help me I axidently put thin yoyo lube in a responsive barring for my sage and now it won't come up what do I do it's pretty frustrating
+Zheen Bahadin You do not need to replace the C-clip or the shield. Do not remove the plastic. I believe Kerosene will work, but I have not tried it myself.
If you have pliers put the bearing in the circle part so that it stays in place. Makes it much easier, as the bearing doesnt spin when you try to deshield it.
hey yo watch out when you take the c clamp off be very sure you know where it goes. its is so light and small. i spent a solid 30 mins cleaning my desk to find it
yotricks after the whole process do I need to put the c clip and the metal shield back on? also my bearing has a metal shield on one side and a transparent plastic one on the other side, should I try to remove the plastic thing too? and can I use kerosene instead of lighter fluid?
+Joseph Lacy There is no easy way to remove a bearing without a multitool that does not have great potential to scratch your yoyo or damage the bearing. You can try to gently rock the bearing off with pliers, but it may end up damaging the bearing or the yoyo.
Joseph Lacy One thing I have found that helps prevent damage while using pliers to remove a bearing is to wrap a strip of paper towel around the exposed bearing quite a few times to create a pad. This still allows me to get a decent grip on the bearing with the pliers without (as much) risk to the bearing. Still not as good as the mutlitool but so far I have found it effective.
Yotricks, I used CTX for quite a while and it only spins for 3 seconds after I lubed it. Should I clean it? (I lubed it correctly and yoyo is completely unresponsive)
In my opinion, paper clean is the best, if you clean more than 20 times with paper. Believe me its better, faster and it spins longer and its safer. Works well with over lube bearing, or if it gets dirty(like black gunk). Only use acetone or spirit, if it gets too much dirty (like if you drop on dirt or sand) or got rust. If its minor problem then paper is the best.

Hey @yotricks, should i buy a new yoyo bearing? Because my yoyo is fake and all parts in it are fake.. I want more sleeping because my yoyo is sleeping about 10-20 seconds
After I did the research for all types of bearing, plus a conversation I had with an owner of the smoking store, the best liquid to clean them would be the auto break cleaner !!!!! Try it !!!
Hi yotricks! Do bearings rust when yoyos are in stock quite for long? 'cause i've been eyeing on this yoyo for sale that's posted 2 years ago. It will surely be the one to be delivered to me if i ordered the item. I'm afraid the bearings or the yoyo itself is not in the same condition now like when it was still brand new. Need your help. Nonetheless, thanks for this helpful vid!
+Rexor Magbutay Bearings can start to rust in that amount of time, but it largely depends on where the store is and how it is stored. If I were you I would have a backup bearing on hand just in case. The yoyo should be fine.
I know its normal for the bearing to get that black gunk stuff, but is it normal for it to get the yoyo spacers? On my Skyhawks, they are just covered with that stuff, the spacers I mean. Do you know how to get rid of that by any chance?
Tommy Behney That black gunk is the lube that came in the bearing (I believe), so it makes sense that it leaches out onto the spacers. If you continue to lube the bearing with thin yoyo lube eventually this will stop leaching out of the bearing. It should just wipe off.
ItsMyGame100 I would only recommend using the cleaners we discussed. Many cleaning products can damage the bearing in your yoyo, or the yoyo itself, which is why yoyoers limit themselves to those cleaners we mentioned.
ok. I saw a comment you responded to in this video yesterday saying that they're able to use nail polish remover. I tried it on my dv888 bearing. And, it works nicely now :)
Hi yotricks, just a question: I have a Protostar and the bearing will easily come out using my fingers. However, I see on TH-cam that most bearings need pliers or a multitool to get it out if the yoyo. Is this normal?
I have this smaller-than-C bearing that has this black-ish corrosion on the outside. I've soaked it in metal polish (white spirits) for more than half an hour and there is very little, if any, improvement. How do I fix this? Does it even affect play if the corrosion is on the outside ring?
+SolaceAndBane Most likely if you see that corrosion, then the inside of the bearing is corroded as well. That being said, if the yoyo plays fine I would not worry about it.
slightly unrelated question. Do different brands of bearings really affect sleep time assuming they are the same style? does a 10 ball bearing sleep longer than an 8 ball?
Hi yotricks I'm going to order a YYF Shutter and I'm so exited! I live in canada and I wanted to order the yoyo tomarrow. How long will it take to ship through "priority mail"?
What I have found is most sponsored players do not lube their bearings since they get them for free, so it doesn't really matter if they last a long time or not. We recommend cleaning, playing with the clean bearing for 30-60 minutes, then lubing.
100 percent is the best but if you can get citrus cleaner it would be better trust me I cleaned my bearings no sound comes out of them the brand of the citrus cleaner that I use is by purple power but its citrus cleaner or orange power something like that I
100 percent alcohol so they won't rust or leave humidity come on yo tricks I'm going to post a vid of me showing the best and safest way to clean bearings ok😀but first buy citrus cleaner the bottle is orange and says citrus cleaner or orange power by the creators of purple power if you live in the U.S. go to Wal-Mart go to car parts or cleaner/ solvents area and look for it ok
yotricks ok Tge past two yoyos I’ve ordered were both unresponsive and I didn’t lube them. They played great and then 2-3 days later the bearing made a lot of noise and it played responsive!!
That sound about what I would expect (even though some bearings can last much longer without lube). Just make sure you don't put in too much lube, or your yoyo will start acting responsive anyway.
My bearing has started to spin less and makes a much more, Grindy sound. Is this a sign that I need to clean it? FYI, it’s the bearing I got from my replay pro. I also already used lube
Usually that indicates that it is time to lube it again. If you tried that and it didn't help, try a little more. If that doesn't help, or if it makes things works, then clean it.

YOYO 101 You can clean multiple bearings at once, and I don't think it would slow the process.
Which sleeps longer with a CenterTrac bearing, the Yomega Dash, or the Dv888? Also does the Dash grind well?
Crackinskullz I'm a Randy The Dash grinds ok, but not nearly as well as the DV888. I believe sleep times on the two yoyos would be very similar.

JasonWinn 14 It will make your bearing rust
slightly unrelated question. Do different brands of bearings really affect sleep time assuming they are the same style? does a 10 ball bearing sleep longer than an 8 ball?
+Leonard Khoo In all the tests I have seen 10 ball bearings do not sleep longer than 8 ball.
do we need to reshield it?
+Nipa Thaker No.
Hi yotricks I'm going to order a YYF Shutter and I'm so exited! I live in canada and I wanted to order the yoyo tomarrow. How long will it take to ship through "priority mail"?
I am not sure exactly how long it will take. Regular shipping usually takes 10 days to 2 weeks, so it should come faster than that.
+yotricks will you guys ship it out today even though it is good Friday?
We are shipping today.
yotricks how do you put the c clip back together with the shield and bearing?
in Ann's video she does maintenance and after she used lighter fluid the just let it dry and didn't lube it, should you lube it or no?
and just let it dry*
What I have found is most sponsored players do not lube their bearings since they get them for free, so it doesn't really matter if they last a long time or not. We recommend cleaning, playing with the clean bearing for 30-60 minutes, then lubing.
once i have cleaned the bearing and it has dried do i have to put the shield back on
You do not need to put the shield back on.
Hi, I just ordered a yoyo starter pack, about how long does it take to come in? I ordered it on piority shipping.
Priority shipping within the US usually arrives 2-3 days after it ships, not counting Sundays.
Would alcohol work instead of lighter fluid?
Sudatta Hor We would not recommend it, we are not sure it would work and it could be harmful.
Could I reuse the lighter fluid
+Large Face Yes.
Do you guys have any idea if a Yomega Raider bearing has a removable C clip and shields? I'm having trouble finding the space to fit the pin in.
I have a question. Do i have to remove the bearing shields on both sides or just on 1 side? Thanks in advance
Both sides.
can you use acetone or alcohol or lachor thinner
Acetone, yes. I have not tried the others.
Could I use vinegar instead of lighter fluid
No.
Can you use any lighter fluid
I believe so.
+yotricks do you know what it needs in it to clean it?
Not specifically, no.
+yotricks thanks. Just don't want to ruin by baring. 😀😀
Hey should I lube my yoyo bearing when I first buy a new yoyo
If it is an unresponsive yoyo I typically play with the yoyo for about 15 minutes and then lube it for the first time.
yotricks ok Tge past two yoyos I’ve ordered were both unresponsive and I didn’t lube them. They played great and then 2-3 days later the bearing made a lot of noise and it played responsive!!
That sound about what I would expect (even though some bearings can last much longer without lube). Just make sure you don't put in too much lube, or your yoyo will start acting responsive anyway.
yotricks ok thanks
can i do this without removing the bearing shield?
My bearing has started to spin less and makes a much more, Grindy sound. Is this a sign that I need to clean it? FYI, it’s the bearing I got from my replay pro. I also already used lube
Usually that indicates that it is time to lube it again. If you tried that and it didn't help, try a little more. If that doesn't help, or if it makes things works, then clean it.
Is rubbing alcohol good?
+CrazyCardMagic Trav It depends on the acetone content of the alcohol. The more acetone the better.
Seeing as water is a solvent, would water work for this?
Only if you want your bearings to rust.
Adam do I have to put the c clip and shield back onto the bearing after I'm done cleaning it or is it fine not to?
+Jack Ripper You do not need to put them back.
+yotricks but then how do I lube it?
The same way you lube a bearing with shields.
+yotricks thank you
+yotricks Is there any other solvents I can use to clean my bearing othere than lighter fluid?
+Simeon Newman Yes. You can also use Mineral Spirits or Acetone (which is also nail polish remover).
yotricks thank you
