I was curious to try it because I never had an original OCD (I have a Fulldrive 2 Mosfet which to me is THE overdrive pedal and a 2V2 which is also awesome) and was impressed by the sound and the "cream" created also in the UK mode... But, there is a BUT: you should have asked someone to lend you and regional OCD 1.4 and make a comparison. In fact, after receiving it, plugging it into my amp (a 2x12 Maz 18 Jr reverb), listening to it and studying/compare it with an original OCD 1.4 and an OCD Ge (completely another "animal", but wow!) I was disappointed: thin sound, not so present, less harmonics and that bottom end than the 1.4 and much much much less than the Ge (which btw is incredible to my ears)... Ok you say, it's a 129€ pedal compared with a 240/350€ ones... Well, even if the original and the ODD seem identical inside (and according Warm Audio it is really based on the 1.4), the latter seems almost "shy" if compared to the Fulltone... I sent back the WA... So I must say, the OCD 1.4 (in reality all versions from the 1.1 till the 1.6) is the real deal, there's nothing more to say IMHO... As a matter of fact I see the ODD as an ok alternative if one owns an OCD and needs a sturdy backup pedal to bring at concerts, jams and that sound wise can be close to it...
Think of it this way: this ODD pedal is for those who want to have only the advantages of an OCD and leave the defects of the fulltone ocd pedals. Warm audio Odd : finally an OCD pedal style that can be used in all respects (gain adjustment included) without being submerged by all that useless and muddy bass of the original OCD. The pedal harks back to version V1.4. All those fulltone OCD basses (who likes them) can also make a positive impression when you play alone, perhaps at home, but I assure you that when you are in a live context with a band, on the contrary they are a serious problem. The difference between the warm Odd and the fulltone OCD pedal style is that the ODD sounds great on its own, without the need to add another overdrive, and that you can exploit the gain up to three quarters of the possibility, whereas with the OCD you are forced to keep the gain low and push it with another overdrive (like ts-9), otherwise it won't stand out in the mix. Furthermore, warm audio did an excellent job with the equalization of the pedal: the mids and medium/high frequencies when you raise the gain they don't fall behind like in ALL OCDs. One last thing: after version v1.7, the construction of the OCD pedals inside is 90% entirely surface mounted (SMT), including the GE model, while Warm Audio the ODD is not only built entirely with through hole , but uses premium components selected and assembled by hand and even mounts a germanium diode, and last (but not least) thing, it has a silent switch with no pop when turned on, while the OCD switches make noise . So what are we talking about? Bottom line: you say that the odd pedal has fewer harmonics than the ocd. But you are sure? And how do you say it? I tried them both side by side and in fact, to me it seemed the opposite, the Odd had harmonics to spare. My final consideration:the pedals, especially the overdrives, should also be played and tested in live contest situations, perhaps with your own band, and not just in the shop or in the bedroom. (I am currently a happy owner of a warm audio odd and a Boss Bd-2waza Craft made in Japan). I hope this comment of mine is useful to anyone reading. Greetings and good music to everyone.
@@silviolutti1522 thank you for your answer and your point of view on the ODD. Because this is your point of view as I expressed mine and it's ok: different people, experiences and perception of a product...👍 FYI I played and I play live so I actually know the difference between a bedroom volume and a stage volume, don't worry. And just to remind you, as you show a very deep understanding of the ODD, that this is based on the OCD version 1.4 which is not SMT, so I am the one asking you what we are talking about?🤷♂Yes the pedal is newer, so it probably solves some issues like the bass/mid range frequencies (present because of a Marshally sonic need according to Fuller) which not everybody liked, that's fine; as a matter of fact, Warm Audio is supposed to implement the product they take inspiration from, since we are in 2024, not in 2008 anymore. Then, Fuller is well known for selecting high quality components for all his pedals, so I don't see any point reminding the premium quality components for the ODD and I NEVER questioned the quality of the Warm Audio products, so much so that I myself have a couple of their effects.☝😌 The switch on the OCD makes noise? To me it doesn't seem so, Fuller used true bypass circuits on the OCD; it's a mechanical noise not a microphonic one, so inaudible when playing in a live situation... Last but not least regarding your phrase "you say that the odd pedal has fewer harmonics than the ocd. But you are sure? And how do you say it? I tried them both side by side and in fact, to me it seemed the opposite, the Odd had harmonics to spare,": good for you, different ears and probably equipment make you decide for the ODD. I don't have to explain you in detail how I do say that it has less harmonics than the original... To me it's a matter of nuances and the ODD to my ears lacks those nuances... I said and I confirm that the ODD is a good alternative if one owns an OCD and needs a sturdy backup for concerts, jams and that sound wise can be close to it... But the real deal is another beast, sorry...💁♂
@@iadorasjourneyI'll answer you about how I perceive harmonics and my (humble) equipment. I have very normal equipment. I use Fender stratocaster american series fat's 50 set pick up as it came from the factory and in Fender hot rod de luxe III amps. As an overdrive I have, in addition to the warm audio odd, a Boss bd-2waza Craft made in Japan and three/four other modulation and delay pedals. In the past I had some original fulltone ocd versions: very beautiful and captivating when I played alone at home at low volumes, but very problematic when used in live contexts. Too much bass. The gain couldn't go beyond half of the pedal's capabilities, otherwise it became pure mud. It seemed to be using not a blanket, but a large duvet placed over the amplifier cone. So I was forced (in order not to throw it away or in the best case scenario to sell it and lose money), to always keep it on with the gain at minimum and to use the Ibanez TS-9 to get a boost for the solos. A truly ridiculous and frustrating situation for a pedal that costs over $200. The versions I had: - V 1.4: read the description just made - V 1.7: in my opinion slightly better than 1.4 but same problems: after half the pot it is impossible to raise the gain. Too much bass in low mode and too much treble in high mode that cannot be resolved with tone. - V2 red LED: a mountain of bass. Absolutely unusable. - V2.1 blue LED upgrade version V2: lifeless pedal, flaccid, dark and full of bass almost like the previous version. (The red LED V2 was better, at least it had life.) All versions had and removed within two years, therefore with the same instrumentation that I currently use. Thank God I always had the Boss Bd-2 Waza Craft with me, a permanent keeper in my pedalboard. However, I have always liked the sound of the OCD when I played alone at low volumes and I started looking for a solution. Then it happened that I found an advert for sale of the ODD pedal, practically new, a few months old: 80 euros! It was from a person who had made a wrong purchase thinking it was another type of distortion. I still had the latest OCD V2.1 and a friend's V1.4 in the rehearsal room. After having made the comparison at home with the V2.1 (The odds had practically broken his ass. It seemed to hear an overdrive on a twin reverb (ODD) compared with an overdrive placed on a cheap transistor amplifier ( ocd v2.1), I decide to go to the rehearsal room and then try all three, first alone and then with the band, in both cases at rather high volumes and with the amplifier tones set to flat: every time that I inserted the Odd, I could hear ALL the notes that came out of my amplifier (shure sm-57 miked with the band and not miked without the band). A wonderful, unique sensation. However, when I switched to version V1.4, the bassist had to stop playing: we couldn't understand anything. I'm not telling you with V2.1: total chaos. As you can see, I didn't make my hearsay comment before. The original OCD will be a real deal for you. (Evidently you don't use the clean channel of your amp or at most you use it with the bass control set to zero.) For me it is an unusable pedal as a standalone overdrive. Unless you put an always-on equalizer connected to the pedal. Regarding the switch, it's not as you say and has nothing to do with the question TrueBypass or not. In the ocd pedal you can hear the POP when you turn on the pedal, even if it is not very loud. In the ODD pedal however, no. A final consideration of mine: OCDs can be called and considered as such up to version V1.7. After that, they are completely different pedals. But just real rubbish. GE version included, the blue one.
Warm Audio are great at reviving these discontinued products 👍 I did get the v2 OCD when it came out but ended up selling it because there was just too much bass no matter what I did, this sounds like a better version than that 😊
Bassy even on the hp setting? But yeah, I feel you. Sounds good with the fulltone full drive (mosfet) going into it to tighten up the low end... tho I got the joyo maximum drive, but sounds great to my ears.
@@albertplaysguitar yes it didn’t matter what setting it was, hp/lp/tone at max, it was still too bassy. Maybe it’s something with the V2’s because I don’t think it would have been that popular if they all sounded like that
Good call, I think you’ll like the ODD. My tele has custom shop hand wound Nocaster pickups. Those are the ones I ordered it with and they sound magical. Cheers
Think of it this way: this ODD pedal is for those who want to have only the benefits of an OCD and leave the flaws of fulltone OCD pedals. Finally an OCD that can be used for all purposes (gain adjustment included) without being overwhelmed by all that useless and muddy bass of the original OCD. The pedal refers to version V1.4. All those OCD bass tones (clearly who likes them...) can make a positive impression when you play alone, perhaps at home, but I assure you that when you are in a live context with a band, on the contrary they are a serious problem. The difference between the warm ODD and the full tone OCD is that the ODD sounds great on its own, without the need to add another overdrive, and that you can use the gain up to three-quarters of the way, whereas with the OCD you are forced to keep the gain low and push it with another overdrive (like the ts-9), otherwise it won't stand out in the mix. Furthermore, the warm audio did a great job with the equalization of the pedal: the mid, mid/low and mid/high frequencies when raising the gain do not lag behind as in ALL OCDs, and they are precisely the same frequencies at be among the most important. One last thing: after version v1.7, the construction of the OCD pedals inside is 90% entirely on surface mount board (SMT), including the GE model, while Warm Audio the ODD is not only built entirely on through-hole, but uses hand-selected and assembled premium components and even mounts a germanium diode and, last but not least, has a silent switch with no pop when turned on, while the OCD switches make noise. So what are we talking about? My final thought: pedals like the Electro Harmonix or the glove and/or the yoyo are little more than toys compared to both the OCD and ODD. I would like to conclude by saying that pedals, especially overdrives, should also be played and tested (especially) in live contest situations, perhaps with your own band, and not just in the shop or at home in the bedroom. Otherwise, when you go to play live you may have unpleasant surprises and be forced to radically change the equalization of your amplifier. It happened to me with an original OCD pedal, where I had to completely reset the bass of my Fender Hot Rod De Luxe III, thus sacrificing the beautiful clean channel. With warm audio this didn't happen to me: the ODD's bass is really well balanced. (I am currently the happy owner of a warm audio odd and a Boss Bd-2waza Craft made in Japan, the only two overdrives on my pedalboard that I use individually, never added together.). I hope this comment of mine is useful to anyone who reads it. Greetings and good music to everyone.
I interesting comments I have the Glove which I'm very happy with. I use a tumnus on all the time set fairly clean as a boost. If I want to beef it up or chug it ut up I stump on the Mooer dumble drive. Always fancied the OCD but all the different versions and the price put me off. Do you still use the warm drive? Cheers
@@martynrandall7652I would advise you to get rid of those pedals (electro harmonix glove /mooer hustle drive). They are of terrible construction quality, almost entirely built with micro surface mount smt components. Difficult to repair them once broken if a failure happens. But even the latest OCDs are built with surface mount smt. The last good version was v1.7. Sure, I still use the odd warm audio, it is a permanent fixture in my pedalboard and it sounds better than even the latest OCD versions. And it sounds great on its own. Greetings from Italy!
@@martynrandall7652Perfect. Don't miss it 😉. And always remember that pedals should be tested especially at band volumes, live, as well as in the shop or in your bedroom. Because the sound changes significantly. A big muff or a fuzz pedal or simply scooped mids may seem nice at home but when you go to play it's just a big problem. Update me! 🙂
@@silviolutti1522 yeah dead right about volume and playing live. You think you have sound right then the place fills up with people and it changes again .🤘😀
Hey, thanks! This is based on an early version of the ocd (v1.4) and for that reason it doesn’t sound and react like the latest versions of the original. I used the OX Box for cab sim and I went for my trusty 2x12 sim with alnico speakers.
I see plenty of them for resale in the $150 range , I don’t think that’s overpriced considering lots of newer quality overdrives are $200- 250 new …. I use a V2 and I like it
The OCD used to be my favorite drive pedal. But after Mr Fuller made some strange remarks - to say the least - after the murder of George Floyd I immediately sold it because I didn't want anything to do with this company anymore. And I didn't regret it, even after the prices for these pedals went crazy. And, to be honest, I absolutely don't miss them on the market - however good their pedals were! Great to see Warm Audio bring this pedal back on the market
George Floyd overdosed, period. He ate his drugs and died. Sorry about your pitiful cult narrative. Blacks shot 30 blacks over Juneteenf weekend and magically, nobody gave two shits. Those lives didn’t matter because they weren’t useful to democrats.
@@garyslash7552They weren't bad. You don't get to fund riots in cities you don't live in and then claim you're a hero. Mike is a jerk but said nothing wrong.
I already owned some OCD's, sound ok, better than a TS, but also are no real gamechangers in my opinion. I sold my ones and all my other overdrive pedals (Zendrive, SD-1, RAT, Zentaur,...), after I got a PlexiTone. The very first pedal, which nailed the tone for me, in front of an amp but also standalone. Nevertheless a nice demo. Nice alternative for OCD fans, I only would be interested to know, on which version this pedal is based on. On the other hand meanhwile there also are DIY kits available, which allow internal dip-switching between all versions between 1.1 and 2.0 GE for even less money. Something like that as a completely assembled pedal would be interesting for me too. As it is, nothing for me, but a nice pedal at a comparably fair price and a good alternative to the meanwhile overpriced real used OCD's and obviosuly also better sounding than some Chinese budget clones.
This is what freaks me out about remakes like this- and I'm not insinuating anything here, just making an observation- they say it's a part for part copy- an exact clone of the original circuit- but it actually sounds better imo- how? The OCD sounded like it had a blanket over it- really muffled, and if you cranked the distortion it went into fuzz territory with this endless sustain thing going on- I didn't like it. I had one, and I sold it- that was before the company closed down to, so it wasn't about the money- I took a loss. But this- this sounds amazing man- not muffled at all- and when you crank it- it just sounds better. Their "Klon" clone is the same way- I'm not a huge fan of the real klon- but I like the Centavo. I haven't heard their Zen drive yet but tbh at this point- I trust them, I would buy it if I weren't broke.
Very interesting indeed! About the OCD - ODD -> this is arecreation of the v1.4 ocd. You might have played a later version of the original, which definitely sounds different. About the Centavo -> I don’t know about you but I never played an original Centaur, only clones. All of the klon style pedals sound and behave differently and out of those I like the Centavo most. It might be the closest to how a Centaur feels and plays like? I don’t know. Maybe. 😅
Dude, I'm buying this pedal as soon as I sell the pedal I bought last week with the money from the pedal I sold the week before. Just hope I can sell this pedal to buy the one that comes out next week. Just sayin
So OCD I think was a reference to “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” so I think ODD is a reference to another mental disorder: ODD means “OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANCE DISORDER.”
Sounds pretty good, but I hope people realize that your abilities have something to do with that! After listening again, it’s not bad, but may be a little much for my liking?
It's tough this China thing... They make so good copies that sometimes it's almost impossible to distinguish which is which... But supporting the US products instead of the chinese who are destroying the market of everything would be more fair I'd say...
The Everglades will freeze over way before Fuller would license his stuff - especially to WARN Audio. So no, this is just WARN doing what they do, and that's push the boundaries on how much they'll overtly rip off a successful design. "Looks" is all it is and never even close to the original design. Lipstick on a Pig...
Obsessively Duplicated Drive. I thought, though, that Fuller was going back into business, just from his new home (moved from LA to Nashville?). Either way, i think copying Fulltone's branding is... scummy. And i'm *no* fan of Mike Fuller. Seems like copying circuits is one thing that is 'accepted' in this industry, but exploiting the "trade dress" is over the line for me. Not sure why they would want to copy what Fulltone did, anyway, as that font/those graphics were always a bit of a bad joke.
lol there's already a dozen more affordable Chinese clones, from brands like Joyo, Ammoon, Donner, Caline etc. Why should anyone pay "boutique" prices for a blatant clone?
@@soofitnsexy The OCD is not a complex circuit and not hard to copy. The mystique surrounding it comes from the many many revisions it has had. Different clones are based on different revisions, so the question of "which one is better" comes down to which version of the OCD you like better. Mine is the v1.3, before the introduction of the germanium diode. The EHX OD Glove is one such clone.

Because this is your point of view as I expressed mine and it's ok: different people, experiences and perception of a product...👍
FYI I played and I play live so I actually know the difference between a bedroom volume and a stage volume, don't worry.
Then, Fuller is well known for selecting high quality components for all his pedals, so I don't see any point reminding the premium quality components for the ODD and I NEVER questioned the quality of the Warm Audio products, so much so that I myself have a couple of their effects.☝😌
The switch on the OCD makes noise?
The versions I had:
- V 1.4: read the description just made
- V 1.7: in my opinion slightly better than 1.4 but same problems: after half the pot it is impossible to raise the gain.
(Evidently you don't use the clean channel of your amp or at most you use it with the bass control set to zero.)
For me it is an unusable pedal as a standalone overdrive.
@@silviolutti1522 again: this is YOUR opinion and experience. Glad you found a pedal for your needs, mine are a bit different.👍
Warm Audio are great at reviving these discontinued products 👍
I did get the v2 OCD when it came out but ended up selling it because there was just too much bass no matter what I did, this sounds like a better version than that 😊
This has a very well balanced low end. No matter which of my amps I use after it. 👍 I dig it.
Bassy even on the hp setting? But yeah, I feel you. Sounds good with the fulltone full drive (mosfet) going into it to tighten up the low end... tho I got the joyo maximum drive, but sounds great to my ears.
@@KrisBarocsi good to know 👍
@@albertplaysguitar yes it didn’t matter what setting it was, hp/lp/tone at max, it was still too bassy. Maybe it’s something with the V2’s because I don’t think it would have been that popular if they all sounded like that
@@timhopkins3810 yeah I've seen vids shooting out the various versions...
First of all Great Pedal, I'm ordering one. By the way what pickups are in your Tele? It sounds so sweet!
@@silviolutti1522 ok that's straight to the point, theres a second hand warm drive popped for sale the right price. I might give it ago. Cheers
Great video Kris! The OCD is one of my favourites, I own two of them. So perhaps, if I wait 10 more years I can get rich by selling them... 😅
No you won't
@@adhaskym.a9536 Damn it! 😂
Sounds great!!! And a great price too! This sounds better than the original to me 🤓 What IR's did you use here with the tone king imperial???
Hey, thanks! This is based on an early version of the ocd (v1.4) and for that reason it doesn’t sound and react like the latest versions of the original.
I used the OX Box for cab sim and I went for my trusty 2x12 sim with alnico speakers.
Mine came from Sweetwater early, gona play with it tomorrow...thanks
Love your shirt man 🌞💥💫
I see plenty of them for resale in the $150 range , I don’t think that’s overpriced considering lots of newer quality overdrives are $200- 250 new ….
Great to see Warm Audio bring this pedal back on the market
what remarks did he make??? thanks
@@soofitnsexy Check it out on google. His remarks were so bad that a big music chain in the US stopped doing business with him
George Floyd overdosed, period. He ate his drugs and died. Sorry about your pitiful cult narrative. Blacks shot 30 blacks over Juneteenf weekend and magically, nobody gave two shits. Those lives didn’t matter because they weren’t useful to democrats.

Pedal Schmedal!
This.guy plays very, very well and we all just comment on the pedal?
Shame...☺
Carry on friend... Carry on.
It's based on the v1.4.
Just sayin
Ufff, tele through the tone king is lush.
Totally man, it’s a duo made in tone heaven. 😆
So OCD I think was a reference to “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” so I think ODD is a reference to another mental disorder: ODD means “OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANCE DISORDER.”
ODD= Oppositional Defiance Disorder or Obviously Delicious Drive
No doubt... OCD V1 series 1 are going for over $1,000.00
🤯
Sounds pretty good, but I hope people realize that your abilities have something to do with that!
After listening again, it’s not bad, but may be a little much for my liking?

Its a nice pedal . Still expensive… i got a 40 dollar ocd from china and it sounds good
It's tough this China thing... They make so good copies that sometimes it's almost impossible to distinguish which is which... But supporting the US products instead of the chinese who are destroying the market of everything would be more fair I'd say...
WA can stop production since OCD is back. It's good that they produce anything that's unavailable.
Cool crunchy tones. 2:55 because they know how psychotic guitarist are.
Mike Fuller must have allowed Warm to make a licensed copy
Obsessively Driven Disorder? ODD

lol there's already a dozen more affordable Chinese clones, from brands like Joyo, Ammoon, Donner, Caline etc.
Why should anyone pay "boutique" prices for a blatant clone?
but are they better???
@@soofitnsexy The OCD is not a complex circuit and not hard to copy.
The mystique surrounding it comes from the many many revisions it has had. Different clones are based on different revisions, so the question of "which one is better" comes down to which version of the OCD you like better.
Mine is the v1.3, before the introduction of the germanium diode. The EHX OD Glove is one such clone.
