- Here is Installing Subwoofers in a Jeep SRT, Wiring Part 2 of my old Jeep SRT! I really hope you find this helpful. I apologize for the camera angles being off as I wasn't watching the GoPro screen when I was recording. I was trying not to mess up my work! Please let me know if you have any questions, in the comments below! Also I know there are other ways to do this, but 2 years ago, this is what I did and the sound was extremely clean!

I know I'm a little late but use a torch lighter and soldering goes smooth! (incase nobody has shared that with you yet) ON the other note I'm grateful you took the time to show us some specifics on removing the inside panels! I just got a (new to me) grand cherokee with the sub in the back. I was wondering how I was going to get my Skar Audio installed, thanks a lot!

@@MaxBeecher make sure you heat the stripped wire and when you put the solder to the hot wire (with flame still going) the wire will just suck the solder into the wire, kinda cool! Very solid!

I actually found a wiring harness that plugs right into those orange plugs for your subwoofer, so no splicing it’s straight plug and play the harness is for Chrysler/dodge vehicle’s

Great video man I just ordered my sound system, I have a Loc to install but want to know:
1. if the amps remote signal comes from the Loc?
2. I have the alpine system not harman kardon, do you know if the stock sub wires are the same color?
3. Should i leave the stock sub plugged in and working?

1) So my LOC had a remote signal out, which I used to turn the amp on.
2) I'm not sure if the subwoofer wire colors for the Alpine are different, I'd look into that!
3) I actually took my entire stock subwoofer enclosure out, as I used the stock subwoofer wiring for the aftermarket amp and didn't use the stock subwoofer!
Do the rca cables just plug into the stock stereo, or do you need a converter?

No, I didn't have any popping
Can you run the remote off anything else if you don’t have a line output converter?
Anything that provides at least 5v output when the vehicle is in acc or running
the only thing i needed to see you didnt show which was how to deal with the power wire on the battery with limited clearance.

@@MaxBeecher what im asking is how did you connect to the +? did you do the big 3? because im thinking of drilling through the box with rubber grommet allong the frame up to the alt. specially after i get my 400 amp alt im going to want the direct line from alt.
@Random Rich Z oh gotcha, I installed a different terminal on the battery to take the 0/2 gauge cable. I did not upgrade the cable from the alternator though. The stock alternator was a 220 and handled the power well, but had I gone bigger on the system, I would have updated the cable and alternator.

I can't recall, I found it at autozone I believe.

Hey man, I followed your video to a t. Wired my JL LOC just like yours, and even ran signal through it to set the gain and I'm not getting any sound from the sub
Is your amp and subwoofer brand new? Do you have any LED's on the LOC?
@@MaxBeecher Yes, LOC turns on as well. And no, they came out of a previous vehicle so I know the system was working fine beforehand
Are you using the LOC for the amp antenna signal? If so, is the amp turning on?
@@MaxBeecher I actually got it to work finally, it was my battery connection, however I now have a new problem, the signal to my aftermarket amp is very weak. My sub is getting bass, however its very weak and sounds like its underpowered. My amp is already previously tuned for this sub so I'm not sure what's going on now
@@BrokemyiPhoneBMP where do you have the LOC set at? Also check to make sure the bass on your vehicles EQ isn't turned all the way down
Did you use a memory saver to install the amp wire or does the auxillary battery do that?

I did exactly what you did but can't get a signal to my amp through the rca's. I can adjust clipping following the Loc's manual recommendations, but I'm getting nothing from the Loc to the amp?
Any suggestions?

Are you sure your subwoofer wires are wired correctly? The positives and negatives?

Pretty sure im having this same issue i wired everything the same but im also running factory sub and it sounds like my subs are working but when i unplug the rca cables it dont make a difference
Where does your remote wire get it's signal from?
From the line output converter. It has an intelligent feature, so when it notices frequency from the speaker wires on the inputs, it sends power to the remote wire for the amp.

Behind the panel that houses the factory subwoofer.
@@MaxBeecher Oh I see now, all the wires kind of threw me off, thank you! I plan on digging into this project soon, and coming from an old wrangler, wiring subs in a modern vehicle is a very different experience for me and these videos as well as your responses are very helpful!

How did you wire into the 12v?
I tapped into the rear accessory charging port on the passengers side
Which wire? Did the ground just go straight from LOC to car metal? Then the power from LOC went to which wire on the charging port?
@@JeffBittner-rf2ff I tapped into both the ground and power from the accessory port. I used a meter to check to see which was power and which was ground. It was so long ago I don't remember anymore.
Ok so you tapped into the ground and pigtailed another to ground on the actual metal?
@JeffBittner-rf2ff no, the accessory port is already grounded, so I spliced into it.
Is that a factory 8.4 Uconnect?

Not yet. My buddy has a few orders on front of my box, so it might still be another week or two before she's got beat
