How to Make Things Fly Without Computer Effects! LEGO Stop Motion Tutorial for Beginners

  • In this LEGO stop motion tutorial for beginners, I will show you how to make things fly without computer effects. This technique requires some planning, but the end result is pretty cool and very effective. You can use this method to make LEGO fly, jump, fall, or even for making minifigures throw things at each other (as demonstrated in this video). How to make things fly in stop motion... it's really cool and fun to do!
    I hope you enjoy this LEGO stop motion tutorial and that I did a good job on showing how to make things fly without computer effects!

    Huh. This was interesting. I'm pretty fast with masking, but I can see why it might be nice to do this option. You make it look amazing. I can't see the stick at all. Thumbs up! Frutz wuz here.

      Frutz LovesLegos thank you very much!!! I’d like to GET faster with masking lol. There are instances where masking is a better technique to use, but yes you’re right - what I show is a fast way of getting it done.

    Wow. This is really clever. Wonder why I haven’t thought of that. I thought he was going to place something to hold the dynamite on the floor and erase the object later.

      Thank you very much! I usually try to do everything in camera if possible. Masking is incredibly useful and you can do just about anything with it, but there’s something cool about pulling it off without that. Plus it’s a time saver 😂👍

    Cant believe its been about 1 year since I first watched your videos. I am making a Stopmotion video right now but I also kind of avoided throwing something because I dont have the fancy technology to make something look like its flying. Now I can just get sticky tack and use that for my videos THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH

    I just started out in stop motion and I try to refrain from making a minifigure fly or throwing an object because I don't have access to editing right now, this helped a ton!! thanks!

    very good method! I don't have a masking app and I've been trying to find a way to make things float (ex: the force,etc.) and this really helped!

    THANKS, ive been using a invisble wire with 2 studs on the end so i can put people on or objects and this is a WAYYYYY BETTER SOLUTION

    VERY good video sir. By the way, you can do this easier with that great set you built: tip it onto its back and shoot down from above (the back wall being the bottom of the set) so that your stick with the thrown object can stand straight up vertically. That will let gravity work for you, and you might be able to light from above to eliminate that stick shadow:)

      Yes! That's a great technique as well! I don't have a tripod that can do that shot, though. What tripod are you using? I could use an upgrade!
