I especially love that you express your feelings without telling me what to feel. What I really like is that your style match with you, you are not trying to be someone else and from my experience that's the most difficult part. Please don't explain your style, please don't adapt to us, keep going, that's great to follow you and what you like. And you definitely have the right to struggle. Thanks for bringing us into your life and photography.
What I love about photography is watching wether it is people, buildings or little details that sometimes we don´t pay attention to because we are so rushed all the time. For me its very relaxing to just watch and see thing that maybe nobody sees. Thats what I like about your style.
This video is super inspiring. I am already incorporating some of the ways you think about photos into my own photography, and I find that when I am walking around in San Francisco I am starting to see the layers and compositions and colors in a brand new way. Thanks for your work, it’s amazing.
I love watching your videos on your process and your outlook on photography! You understand how everyone has their own way of doing things but you explain what works for you! Keep up the great work Willem
every single time i watch one of your videos i get a wave of inspiration to go out with my camera and make photos and its caused me to shoot more than i normally would and i can't thank you enough for that, man. keep it up willem you're killing it.
You taught me a lot in this video! I’ve accidentally exposed, too long, on some night shots, and also achieved an unnatural but intriguing shot only to discard it for being different. I’m gonna practice this technique more often. Too often I find myself putting the camera up after the sun has set, letting the residual light burn away, but not anymore. Thanks man!
Great video. I often find going out and just freeshooting without any concepts in mind produces interesting results. I always find myself seeing something and getting super excited about a shot. Love that feeling. Keep it up!
Gradually I am almost getting an addiction to your videos. They are so inspiring. I shoot mostly people and have never thought much of the beauty of our surroundings, the great compositions and stories that one can see and capture.
That patrol station one,,, really Hopper-esque! Thank you for showing us your photos, all of them were beautiful, especially your attention to colour :)
I really dig how pastel and warm those abandoned spots look. It's an interesting blend of feelings haha. Good work, always love seeing your stuff. Especially that shot at 2:07
Just ordered some CineStill 800 after watching a bunch of your videos. I've been struggling with being stationary (normally a traveler) and trying to figure out what to take photos of in small town Rhode Island. Watching your videos have given me a ton of ideas just finished 3 rolls here and seeing life in small town suburbia a lot different. Going to try my first attempt at night film photography so thanks for the constant inspo.
Hey man, I really appreciate you showing what you liked about you're pictures and giving us a look at what your process was. These videos are a great insight.
We had a Cadillac just like that one when I was a kid! Damn that brought back memories! I bet there's still MacDonald's french fries I. The back seat cracks wherever that thing is now :)
watching your videos are so calming, it's like the patience it takes to shoot film radiates into the video through your story telling && could you do a video about shooting film at concerts??
Wow, Willem! The work from this trip is beautiful! Watching this is has made me realize that the most important thing I need to learn is how to be able to see the simple things around me with such an open and creative mind. I don’t know how you do it. Your videos are an inspiration.
id love to see a video where you do like a beginners guide to film photography , kind of explaining the basics of film , what some of the technical stuff means and good cameras to begin with xx
The photo of the kid playing baseball is my favorite! I'm a sucker for composition and small details that requires you to look at it again and it does both.
I forgot about this video until just now. This is amazing! I hope you still release the New Jersey project on a book or prints, even though you have moved on.
Thank you for sharing your process and thoughtful reflections in each of your videos; they all really inspire and encourage me to continue my photography and to never stop learning about myself and the art of it. I think this is my favorite video you've done yet, especially once you started talking about your experience shooting at night! It even made me a little emotional to be honest haha
Very interesting to hear your thoughts about your photos. Thanks for sharing. Because you ask, I like the narrative style along with some technical details but emphasis on the narrative part. And images of course. I want to see images 😃
So many beautiful shots, especially once the sun went down. Really loved the ice-cream parlour shot, the red reflection on the pavement looks so special. Nice work man!!!
Those were great shots of the jersey shore. I recognized some of the locations as being in point pleasant so I’m surprised you didn’t hit jenkinson’s boardwalk. There are a lot of arcades, shops and rides there that make for interesting shots. If you take the New Jersey project into the winter give seaside heights a try, the empty boardwalk gives the normally packed place a very different look.
These are great. I've been watching your videos for a long time, and the photos are really inspirational for me and my photography. They've been helpful in getting me back behind the lens. Keep up the good work.
Great video My favourite shot was the one of the ice cream shop. For future videos it would be interesting to hear more about your thoughts on composition and creativity. I like how detailed you get when explaining why a photo is interesting and how you thought about taking that shot.
Thank you William. I really like your video, are clean and really inspiring. Thanks because of you i realized how the simple and ordinary things can be extraordinary. As amateur photographer i want try film photography too. I would like to see you shooting in busy scenario, im just curious of it. All the best and look forward for your book. Pace!
i really love these photos, thank you for sharing your process! i would really love to see a video where you explain how you colorgrade your videos, the colors look so nice!!!
It sucks I moved to FL, when I lived in Philly I used to go to Point Pleasant and mostly Wildwood for the whole summer if I would've seen you on the streets I probably would fangirl. Good stuff as always!
I really love this video! Now I can't decide if I should buy a Mamiya RB67 Pro as soon as I have just bought a Canon F1n to restore. The only things that make me uncertain are the weight and the dimensions, because of course you can't carry the Mamiya with the same ease you can carry the Canon. I hope you will post more videos with this format even with other different cameras. Buona luce (have a nice light - as analog shooters are used to say in Italy)
Great to see your process, I find it helpful context to the images you are making. Talking of Cinestill, I would love to see what you make of the ISO 800 emulsion, especially compared to Portra 800.
loved this video, so many beautiful shots. also inspired me to go out and try some nighttime photography. I'd love to hear more of the technical side of your photos, feels like theres so much for beginners when it comes to film, but not enough for the people who want to start trying out new techniques and styles after they've gotten used to using a film camera. Anyways, keep up the great work!
Hey Willem, I really love your night time photography. I just filmed an episode (not yet released) of shooting night time in the suburbs of Vienna and your instructions on doubling the exposure time really helped, thanks a lot for that.
I would love to see a 35mm film comparison video. Like the same shot taken with 160portra vs. 400 portra vs. 800 etc. and the ideal environments/ scenarios for each. Just starting out with Film photography and your insight would be super helpful! thanks
It'd be dope to hear more technical aspects of your night photography... I had recently shot a roll of 35mm Portra 800 at f/11, with 1/2 to 1 second exposures and they didn't come out as planned, but, back to the drawing board... great video!
Could you do a video about light measuring? Do you measure the light once and then take several pictures with those settings or do you measure the light for each new picture/composition? What equipment do you use for light measuring? Which part do you aim at when you measure the light in a composition? Thanks alot for all the great video’s.
Cool video, nice and simple. A great photographer taking photos and talking about them. Not enough of this type of content from youtube photography channels.
Would love to see more videos about photo books / photography 'philosophy'. You got into it a bit when you brought up 'On Photography'. Would be cool to hear more about what you thought of that book and similar approaches to thinking on photography, rather than technical aspects. Keep it up! Cheers
Love what you’re doing my guy. Saw your video about developing film a couple of weeks ago and it definitely inspired me to start doing that. Keep it up!
After watching your video absolutely will try to shooting in the nighttime more. Love your video !! Keep the good work !! Sending support from Bruges,Belgium 🙏
Love your photos! You inspired me to go out and get myself an actual manual analog camera (after always shooting disposables and polaroids). I’ve only just began shooting with it and find it a bit hard to know which settings I should use (iso, shutter and aperature). If you could do a video on that, it would be very helpful! :) keep it up
I still enjoy taking candid street photography shots the most but I enjoy your work a lot. Would I go to jersey shore with my mamiya and take long exposure photos of random buildings? No, but watching you do it feels good :) Keep up the good work.
I would really love to see a video where you shoot 35mm street photography and talk about your experience
i agree with Deez Nutz. i also would be interested in seeing how you go about shooting with 35mm.
Deez Nutz does have a valid point. I think we’d all enjoy watching you document your experience.
Things to do in quarantine: Watching as many Willem videos as possible
Rodrigo Vazquez Same here hahaha
The kid playing baseball photo is beautiful. I get some heavy Norman Rockwell vibes from it

Means so much! Thanks for the comment this was nice to hear
Your photos are so quite and peaceful, could you do a photo challenge like shooting with dslr
I actually should ;)
@@WillemVerb would really love to see that
@@WillemVerb I'm from Germany, i'm in. Let's do it. hahaha Cheers!
Yeah willem! You should a video with dslr
Really love this story-telling style of videos. keep up the great work.
Glad to hear! My personal favorites to make as well. Thank you :)

Yeeeaaah, these photos rip. Stoked for the episode of The Photo Breakdown!
“These photos rip” cmon man
Tommy Richards Cmon what?
@@tommyfoolery huh
Matt Day don’t use ‘rip’ to describe a photo.. keep that term in the realm of action sports
Tommy Richards nah man gotta agree with matt, these photos definitely rip haha
Definitely some of your best shots yet bro
Don't even know you personally and I'm proud of your growth on TH-cam and more importantly as a photographer. Very clean work man!
Really enjoyed the point of going into a session with an open mind and just having fun with your craft.
This video is super inspiring. I am already incorporating some of the ways you think about photos into my own photography, and I find that when I am walking around in San Francisco I am starting to see the layers and compositions and colors in a brand new way. Thanks for your work, it’s amazing.

enjoyed hearing your descriptions of your photos. the shots give me a new perspective of my jersey neighbors.

Another dope video thanks for dropping your thoughts on perspective, color, lighting, and geometry
Great decisive moment with the kids playing baseball in the backyard! Really puts this image at a whole other level!!
I can’t get over how beautiful the pastel colours you get in your photos are man they’re so cool
the photos are magical. something that a DSLR or a mirrorless camera can't have
Not. A. Single. Scooter.
Great vid though bud, loving the blue hour stuff!
HAHHAHA Unsub if you have to

Love the night time pictures 😍 the cinefilm ones actually turned out so well despite the low film speed, that one of the fence is insane
Amazing video and beautiful pictures. Keep making videos where u show more of your photography and u speak about it just like this one.
I had to pause at 1:35 because that photo is SO STUNNING! amazing work
Also 6:40..... absolutely stunning
Very cool Willem. I love the photos and the style a lot. Keep it up.
Outstanding Willem. Amazing shots. Keep it up.
Super nice video, Willem. Really like this approach!
👍 for long exposures and shooting in the dark, when everything takes on an otherworldly look. Challenging but fun!
Another great vid! Love those night shots, they’re so different from what I would take.

For beginning just set your ISO to what the film is rated at. 400 film, set ISO to 400. Then you only have to deal with the shutter speed and aperture
