A year late but just wanted to mention, if this method wares off or something or doesn't work for you, an alternative to just hitting the case is to slide a credit card or some thin object in the right side of the tray and while prying it out, pressing the button. Just that extra pressure is enough to get the thing out.

I picked up an 2009 Xbox 360 for $2.00. Yes, 2 dollars. Game door would not open. Manual eject button doesn't work. Used the "Y" eject button and a credit card to get it open. Cleaned it just as you showed us. Works perfect with the "Y" button. Amazing!! Just paid $80 for an Xbox 360 "S" with 2 wireless controllers, charging station, Kinetic with 7 games, and 15 Xbox games. Original owner, all paperwork included. 2 battery trays also. Looks like I am going to get half the $80 back when I sell this one.
Occasionally I go back to my 360 to listen to my old music and Dane cook bits, today I wanted to run some world at war zombies and my tray wouldn’t open. Thank you for this video
I truly am grateful for this video....it's like a godsend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 it worked for me too....insted of the alcochol I had alcohol swabs (generally used on nthe skin after injections) I squeezed the liquid out of those swabs/tissues onto the Q-Tip and did as said on the video. It worked wonders. But I guess I will have to repeat this exercise once a month to keep it up and running. Thanks a million!!!!
Thanks dude. Im trying to complete all the gta games on every console or system they were on one at a time. It came to gta 3 and I completed it on everything including mobile, ps2, original Xbox etc. This has fixed my problem. Thanks dude you deserve more subs!
Dude, thank you. It wouldn't open until I smacked it at just the right moment like you did. Our Switch was giving us a hard time with the controllers and then this wasn't working and it was literally ruining my Christmas, but this saved me from flipping the F out. Much love.
This actually worked for me. The tapping made the disc drive open and cleaning the inside of the belt fixed the issue. I guess the smallest amount of dust on the belt reduces the traction between the belt and wheels.

This worked, I think it was actually twisted and the qtip cleaned it and put it back in place. Didnt have nearly as much grime. Thank you!
