Band-Maid is the band you SHOULD introduce your daughter to. The group has been together intact for a dozen years. Their discography is over 140 songs, all great rock and roll. Every member of the band, including their wonderful vocalists, is incredibly talented. I am 75 years old and have seen a great deal of rock and roll artists live, including the iconic: Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Byrds, The Allman Brothers Band, hell, even Devo and Elvis Pressley. I have been to two live Band-Maid concerts and was completely impressed with their high energy, cohesiveness, and professionalism during their shows. These five young Japanese females are more than worthy of being heroes for your daughter. Just recently, Paul Reed Smith founder and owner of PRS Guitars, surprised Kanami Tono, the group's main song composer and lead guitarist, by presenting her the Kanami Signature Model PRS Guitar. There are photos of the presentation on TH-cam and an accompanying video by Kanami describing the guitar's design and hardware on the PRS Guitars TH-cam channel. Kanami is the first Japanese artist ever, male or female, to receive such an honor. There are only 200 copies of the guitar and the models were all pre-ordered and sold out within 3 days. By the way, it is a stunningly beautiful guitar. Miku Kobato, (she wears the red rose on her headband) the group's founder, backup vocalist who sometimes takes the lead, and primary lyricist, is a spokesperson for and has a signature model Zemeitas guitar in her honor. It is also another beautiful guitar called the "Flappy Pigeon". MISA, the group's bassist, also has her own signature custom Black Cloud bass guitar called "Smoke". These five young women of Band-Maid should be the heroes of any young female who loves great music including rock and roll. The more you (and your daughter) react to the group's music, the more impressed you will be by their musical versatility and ability to master any genre of sound (including rap and hip-hop : i.e. "Influenzer", the official music video. Other great videos you should react to are "Hate?", the official live video, "Daydreaming" the official music video (a rock ballad), "Bestie", the official music video (another mid-tempo rock ballad) and "Warning", the official music video.
Thank you so much Bill. I love getting this information. I'm going to check out the guitar presentation video and hopefully I'll get a chance to see them live myself one day. I'm going to Glastonbury and they would be a perfect headline act but it will probably be someone far less proficient and energetic and far less talented.
@@thevikingbuddha Glastonbury... I hope not. When they tour they do solo shows, just them. Averaging 22 songs and a bit of banter with the audience for 2 hours is quite normal for their on stage time. Festival time limits to half an hour to maybe an hour if your lucky. Just in passing the did start their Lollapalooza 2023 set with this song which you can see on YT
You: "What am I watching?!?!" Me: Your new favorite band. Band-Maid has been around for 11 years.... they have over 130 songs. Not a single "filler" song among them. If you get to know this band, there will be 50 songs in your "Top 5 Band-Maid songs". Kanami Tono - the lead guitarist - is the 21st century equivalent of Mozart. As good as she is as a guitarist, she's an even better composer. ...... and you haven't even heard the lead singer yet. She is a very powerful alto - think Amy Lee, Pat Benatar, etc.
Yes, please introduce your daughter to them. They deserve more young women fans and more importantly, young women deserve Band-Maid. Great reaction, you have much to enjoy from these girls.
Kanami, the lead guitarist, recently became the 1st Japanese artist to ever get a signature PRS guitar. Paul Reed Smith presented it to Mincho as a surprise at an event where all the MAIDS were in attendance. It was very emotional.
The first female and the only Japanese musician to be so honored! I think this elite group is less than 10 players or if over only a couple. Carlos Santana and John Mayer are part of this group of PRS honorees. @@thevikingbuddha
Love watching people lose their BAND-MAID cherry ! Welcome to the world of Bandmaid. Please stay seated and keep your arms and legs inside the cart until the ride comes to a complete stop. If you feel the need, you may raise your arms and sing along. Bandmaid has over 120 tracks to choose from. Have fun and see how deep the pigeon hole really goes.
Welcome to the world of BAND-MAID. That was a really fun reaction, thank you. Were you surprised by so many comments? MAIDIACS likes to make friends who can relate. Listen to their other songs, I'm sure you'll be surprised every time.
What's great about BAND-MAID is their eclectic music style which means there is something for everyone. Definitely react to these with your daughter: HATE? (Official live) Warning! (MV) Blooming (MV) Freedom (2020 live) Rinne (2020 live) Secret MAIKO Lips (MV)
Yes these are excellent musicians for your daughter to look up to. And you haven't even discovered the fact how much Band-Maid LOVES their fans. To the point where they've written songs about/to them. Worrying about them during Covid, exhorting and appreciating them for attending concerts. It's one of the more earnest and remarkable relationships between a band and their fans I've seen. Great vid. This was my 'intro' song to them too. 8 months later, pretty much total madiac. LOL
Well, it IS one hell of an intro! LOL. Welcome to the pigeonhole, Master Buda! And thank you so much for reacting to our Maids! The young ladies of Band-Maid will melt your face and warm your heart. “Where have you been all my life?” Thousands of MAIDiacs have said the exact same thing, including me. I’m a 68 year old newbie MAIDiac from Dallas, having only discovered the Maids on December 19, 2023. They are the only band that ever hit me so hard that I can remember the exact date I discovered them. They hit me like a ton of bricks! The video that sucked me in was THRILL (OMV.) I must have watched it 20 times in a row before I started looking for other Band-Maid songs. I can’t remember which song it was but I was stunned to find that 2nd song was as good or better than THRILL! I thought how can this BAND I’ve never heard of have TWO such absolute kick ass SONGS I’ve never heard of??? Then I found I found a third great song, and then a 4th! I was thinking how is this even possible? And it just keeps happening with every new Band-Maid song I find! There are hundreds (at a minimum) of fans who have pronounced Band-Maid as the best live hard rock band on the planet. Others simply say the best band ever. And those are some mighty big claims! I don’t make such claims because I think it’s impossible to say - too many variables and too much subjectivity. But you won’t find me arguing with any of those opinions either! Generally the LIVE videos are superior to the OMVs. I’ll let the others introduce you to the dozens of great LIVE performances. Here are a few of the OMVs I prefer over the LIVE versions: THRILL REAL EXISTENCE MANNERS The Non-Fiction Days WARNING SHAMBLES SECRET MAIKO LIPS The more you learn about the Maids the more you’ll love them. Their backstory is as good as their music! Enjoy your trip down the pigeonhole! It’s an amazing journey!
For a band formed in July 2013, first as a four members team, joined by a new lead singer Saiki a month later. The lead guitarist Kanami writes all the band's music since end of 2016 and they have 130 more songs in their catalog up to now. The rythm guitarist and backup/duo singer Miku has been writing all lyrics since that time also and is now seconded by the lead singer Saiki (you need to see her as she is nothing but mesmerizing). The bassist Misa and the drummer Akane are part of the early creative process with the composer Kanami who basically throw them a raw blueprint on which they elaborate fully. Saiki is like the quality control for the musical production of Kanami. This band is a musical miracle mostly unkown until a couple of years ago.
They actually formed in 2013. Last year their 10th anniversary tour focused mainly in Japan culminating in a final show (okyuji) in Yokohama Arena. It was 3 1/2 hours with videos of the band’s history. They always take a couple of breaks for conversations with the audience (masters and princesses) and general fooling around on stage. Us Maidiacs have a lot of lore to share.
11 years and 130+ songs of pure greatness 🔥❤️ I was working about 30 years in rockbusiness, seen few thousand gigs and NEVER heard or seen BETTER band than BAND-MAID. They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent Groove. Magical band, amazing musicians, best friends. For me..Greatest band of our time. Rock/Metal is dead here in Western World..These Japanese All Female Bands are carrying the torch now 🔥❤️🤘 Greets from Finland 🇫🇮
As a grandfather, there isn’t another group of musicians who I would hold up higher than the Maids as role models for girls. Not only in music, but in general. Band Maid are wonderful human beings. Please do share them with your family. If I were to pick one favorite introduction song for a brand new young listener? “Play” official live video is about as perfect a sound as it gets. Coincidentally also written as an instrumental, but after hearing it the vocalist wanted to play too! So lyrics were written. And when they perform it live? The audience decided to be part of the show as well ❤
Welcome to Band-Maid from a damp Staffordshire! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. Wait until yo meet Saiki their lead singer! While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po! Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Check out the live MV of "Onset" for another instrumental banger!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate all that information and can't wait to immerse myself in all things BAND-MAID. It's blue skies down in Essex but bloody cold.
Congratulations on discovering the best band in the history of music in my humble opinion, Band-Maid. Yes, they have an incredible vocalist, two of them in fact. The primarily rhythm guitarist you see here (the one with the red rose) is their primary backing vocalist, occasional lead vocalist, primary lyrisist, and band founder. Her name is Miku Koboto and she willed this band into existence in 2013. Not seen here is Saiki Atsumi, one of the most powerful and mesmerizing vocalists in rock music. She also contributes lyrics and occasionally plays piano live. Also seen here are Kanami, lead guitarist, primary composer, Miku's guitar teacher, and all-around musical genius. She also plays the piano/keyboard parts you hear in this. Misa, one of the best and most creative bassists in the world, and Akane, an absolutely amazing and creative drummer who never stops improving, round out the amazing quintet. Keep listening. You're in for the ride of your life.
Best rock band on the planet. A heavy metal all female band from Japan to show your daughter would be Love bites. Watch MORATORIUM live by Band Maid, they're incredible live. Saiki, the vocalist, is excellent. Watch anything live.
Band-Maid is THE best female rock band EVER and this is from somebody with 40+ years of rock/metal love. Technically they are one of the most skilled bands EVER. They have been around since 2013 and the lineup has never changed. 130+ songs and they are all good. To see them live is BEYOND a treat. Their love shows are another level. Nov 2023 they did their final show of their 10th anniversary and it was over 3hrs long. Every member is beyond phenomenal. Love love love them. MISA MISA MISA (bass player) *worship before the bass throne of MISA MISA*
You have to hear their two excellent vocalists. When I stumbled across Band-Maid 4 years ago they were the greatest band I had never heard of, and they've only become better since. Band-Maid writes their music with live performance in mind. With that said, their vocalist had health issues with her vocal cords, and they inserted instrumentals into their sets to give her voice a rest. Their rhythm guitarist would sing a song either before or after the instrumental to extend the break. When their vocalist decided that she had no choice but to have surgery to remove the polyps that were giving her so much trouble, the band's backing vocalist, who had also developed the same issues, also had surgery in order to reduce the band's hiatus during their recoveries. Since then, the entire band has become very health conscious. To hear both vocalists, give "Puzzle" official live from Tokyo Garden Theater a listen. "Daydreaming" is another great example.
Japan is loaded with virtuoso female rock musicians. Band-Maid has one of the best rythym section in music with Misa and Akane, the best modern day composer and exceptional lead guitarist in Kanami, an exceptional lead vocalist in Saiki, and Miku a supremely intelligent, hard working, talented lyricist, second vocalist, and rythym guitar player who is the founder, spokesperson, and soul of the band. Should note that Kanami's PRS signature sold out within 72 hours. A few other bands with all female players are Lovebites, Hagane, Nemophilia, Aldious, East of Eden, Nek!, Trident, Koiai.
Perfect role models for young girls and even boys. Their dedication to their music and fans is unequaled. The only ego is the one when they join together as Band-Maid. Watch some of their behind the scenes footage and you will realize how down to earth they are. I'm 63, and grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, etc. and these ladies have completely changed the way I enjoy music.
Many of us saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. The DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wrapped up at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26 and at Hong Kong. AND they dropped their new album, Epic Narratives, Sept. 25. Order now! The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Welcome, V-Bud. You are embarking on (along with many others - 220 million YT views, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (144 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 80 favorites! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 33 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 32 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. There is so much good stuff from BAND-MAID. They like to experiment. And they are a bunch of quirky, fun and very nice girls. Their concerts are said to be a full experience. They make long ones and it contains diverse entertainment. But, of course - Kanami write wonderful music. Most of it is top notch. My list of favorites is long. Among all good they have made I counted to 22 absolute favorites, and there might be potentially more that I have not heard. But, let me try tro list a few that are a must to listen to. Very hard to do! * Choose Me - the MV * Dice * Domination - live (*) * Dont you tell me - live * Freedom - live * From now on - MV (*) * Giovanni - instrumental * Hate - live (*) * Manners and Black Hole - covid live (*) - a groovy bass driven one and an insane prog song - those are show off things * Onset - live or MV in the white room * Play * Puzzle * Thrill - the old MV, the one that saved BAND-MAID from extinction (*) * Without holding back - instrumental - MV in the white room (*) You cannot miss
I listen to all forms of metal. Death/deathcore, black, slam, doom, metalcore and some symph too. Band Maid may not be the heaviest of the all female Japanese bands but for some reason they resonate with me the most. Amazing musicians who have constantly improved over the years and one of the best bands I've seen live ever. The lead singer is amazing and one of the key reasons i like them so much too.
You'd be hard pressed to find some better role models for your daughter. They're brilliant musicians, wonderful, creative composers, they're incredible live and all of that, but they also have such a positive message about self-actualization that's the most common theme in their lyrics. I saw someone comment once that they used to go to other bands' shows, and they'd leave all pumped up, wanting to destroy things and flip over cars and stuff, but they went to a Band-Maid show, and they left feeling like they could solve world hunger. They're a really special band. We're lucky to live in a time when they're active, and you're lucky you have 11 years back catalog you can discover. That said, they're a live band first and foremost, so check out a live performance next. Not the best example of their positive message, but Hate? is a great one to check out.
Glad that you liked Band-Maid's MV "From Now On." Another purely instrumental song is their official live video of their great song "Onset" where each musician has their own chance to shine in their own solo. Band-Maid is at their best when they perform live in concert such as in their 10th anniversary concert at the Yokohama Arena a year ago with their song "Hate?" that includes their lead vocalist Saiki joining the other four great musicians in a spectacular live hard rock performance. Cheers!
A big hello from Australia, this band is the real deal, talented, buckets of charisma, creative and one of the hardest working units in rock today, plus there's no toxic BS or fcked up behaviours, the Maids want to do their best for their fans, they remain always humble and grateful. My daughter and two granddaughters are well versed with the Maids, great female role models and while they may look cute they can rock and roll punch like Ali in his prime, cheers 👍🍻
G'day. Yeah, a lot of people have commented on how amazing they are as role models. I'm late to the party, but better late than never, as they say. Cheers
You're next video from Band Maid needs to be "Hate?" Official Live Video. It'll knock your socks off!!! You'll love the singer Saiki. What an amazing voice. Please do that video next!!!! Welcome to the Maidiacs! haha
Band-Maid is the best rock band I, personally, discovered the past 30 years. They tick absolutely all my boxes. Please listen to their official live video "Hate?" next. If you're into some more instrumental greatness, listen to the band ASTERISM, videos "Dawn" or "Church", with my favorite guitarist around today. Her name´s Hal-Ca and she´s out of this world! And yes, as others said, your daughter would surely like The Warning, too. Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
@@johnmatthew102 Absolutely. When you pass B-M's Event Horizon there's no escaping their attraction...Not that i ever tried that hard to escape from it :)
This is one of their instrumental songs, which they have a few, they have two vocalist in the band. Saiki is the main vocalist and wasn't present in this video. Miku, the Rhythm Guitarist, usually does backing vocals was actually the original vocalist and a great singer herself. Ultimately, she decided her voice wasn't the right sound for her band and they recruited a lead vocalist. Miku usually gets a song on each album where she is the main vocalist.
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live five times with this MV quality in Japan and dropped my jaw five times 😲. Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. (Nemophila is one of them) They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
I’m another old-timer who’s seen some of the best rock and metal bands live over the past almost 50 years, and I love this band so much that I unabashedly put them on my extremely short list of favorite bands ever. Saw them live in 2022 and it was, for sure, a “bucket-list” thing for me. That was literally one of best, most enjoyable, shows I’ve ever been to. Beyond the performance was how well they interact with the fans… so engaging even though English is something they’re all still working at. I’d say it was the best band/fan interaction I’ve ever experienced! The love goes both ways!
It makes me so happy when I read the comments from people of an older generation that have experienced the best rock bands ever and still put Band-Maid towards the top.
@@thevikingbuddha I'm 56, and agree. A recent non-scientific poll by another reactor found that the biggest demographic of Band-Maid fans are older men. Ones who appreciated Led Zeppelin and bands of that sort back in the day, and have been looking for a spiritual descendant and update to that sound since. Enter Band-Maid, and... well it's just love, love, love.
“Where have you been all my life?”…that is how I felt too when I started listening to more and more Band-Maid. The more I listened and watched, the more I discovered and became totally hooked. Then I saw them live in person and was just in awe. Welcome to the world of Band-Maid and we look forward to you reviewing some of their live videos.
Great job on this first reaction & great choice too ! We promise you'll never find them boring, they manage to instill joy in their music & that's what makes them unique.
My friend, the number & quality of female musicians in Japan is astounding !! Band-Maid happens to have some of the best. 😏❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘 By the way they have a great lead singer !!
Glad to see you checking out Band Maid. Band Maid is a great example of excellent musicians being wonderful humans. And it's great to hear another fan of Haim. Cheers.
Band-Maid is such an amazing band. You cannot go wrong with *any* of their songs. Check out Lovebites as well. :) You will enjoy the Wolfpack reactions. :)
Love love love Band MAid . One of my top 2 favorite bands. The other is also a band you should introduce your daughter to -The Warning. Three sisters from Mexico that started playing at a very young age and are now taking the hard rock scene by storm . Not only are they great musicians and songwriters they are also great roll models for young girls. Give their song " Automatic Sun ' live at Tecate Pa'l Norta festival a liston. Or any song from their live at the Pepsi Center CDMX. They even have a song with Band Maid called " Show Them"
There are so many great bands from the far east that write and compose fantastic music that largely goes unknown by the west. The music is awesome, and the language/culture takes getting used to. My favorite is Band-Maid because of the hard rock genre. Saiki (the vocalist) will impress you. Thank you for the reaction. Band-Maid is best experienced live. REAL EXISTENCE (Official Live Video).
They have a few instrumentals, originally written to allow their singer a pause during their long and intense shows - but now those instrumentals (one by album) are part of their DNA. But they are mostly a band with two vocalists: the main singer Saiki and the "second" vocalist (more than a simple backing vocalist) Miku (here on rythm guitar) - both are writing lyrics, while Kanami (lead guitar) is their composer. Kanami has just be granted with the first Signature PRS for a japanese artist! I recommand "Hate?" (live) for your next reaction, so you'll see them live and singing, and with some other surprises ... you'll see 😃.
Why do all love Hate? I don't think that it is a great introduction to Saiki... I love band maid and all their songs (including Hate) but some are better to introduce Band Maid to new listeners than others...😅
@@skrrytch I don't think Hate? is anywhere near being one of B-M's best songs either but there's one good reason why it gets recommended so often....MISA & Kanami's most awesome bass & lead guitar conversation.😁
Hello from Sunny Southport...well, it was ealier!! I'm a natural born Maidiac...their songs just shine that bit extra. The more I've learned about this goofy, ego-less highly talented bunch of ladies...I have one conclusion: Every member has been divinely and deservedly gifted the very best 4 colleagues to create and serve their best rock and roll. Enjoy the journey 😁👍👌🤘🤘🤘
Great reaction and I'm glad to have found another person who understands what the music is really about. First of all, I don't like 'metal', especially the extreme kind of music, but I love the 'hard rock' sound. It's different. I've tried a lot of new bands in the past, but couldn't find the right one, because most of them sound so thin and shallow, even though they are a so-called 'heavy' metal band. These ladies, Band-Maid, are the only band I've never stopped listening to. So creative, innovative and profound. After 40+ years of listening to rock music, I'm convinced that it's the creativity that impresses me. Please show these ladies to your beloved daughter. Kanami, the main composer and lead guitarist, is not only an ingenious songwriter, but also has an extremely nice, sincere, polite, classy personality😊.
I certainly shall. Thank you so much for your comment.

Thanks for reacting to our favorite band! Here are a few great female bands to show to your daughter. Trident "HaHa", Band-Maid "Choose me", East of Eden "Evolve", NEK! "Maze", Nemophila "AMA-TE-RAS" and STMLT "Antimental"
Great reaction and yes, we've all been there - "why didn't I know about this band before". Now, you can never listen to rock music again the same way you did before Band-Maid. Enjoy you journey and thanks for reacting to the best rock band in 30 years.
Kanami sang the words with her guitar. In many of their songs, the two vocalists are integrated into the music as additional instruments. Check out Corallium Live at Shibuya Eggman, Blooming MV, or Black Hole Official Live Video as examples.
I too corrupt my kids with music, as my wife puts it. (she tends to listen to poppier music) A few years back I find one of my daughters doing homework while she was in high school had found Nina Simone all on her own. I felt success that day. Akane the drummer from Band-Maid and Tamu the drummer from Nemophila were both inspired by the female drummer Nao from Maximum the Hormone when they were young. I now see a young band of siblings (Missioned Souls) Band-Maid.
They occassionally do instrumentals. In their 11 years, they have released 6 pure instrumentals, they have done several instrumental only DVD releases of songs of theirs with vocals on the original, and there are a couple of unreleased instrumentals out there for the adveturous.
@@thevikingbuddha Well, there are 2. Saiki is their main lead, but Miku is just as amazing vocally. Make sure and get one of her lead songs, like Sayonakidori acoustic.
Haim are great. Band-Maid are my favourite band full stop. You and your daughter should also check out: Gacharic Spin Nek! Lonesome Blue The Warning All are female bands and all are superb.
Great reaction, nice ethic, please show your daughter Lovebites, The Warning, Missioned Souls, and of course much more Band Maid! So much to discover and amazing female role-models. All lovely personalities too, dive deep!
Commenting because I was touched by your desire to share this band with your daughter: BM is 100% head and shoulders above a lot of bands today. If you must know where all the awesome female musicians are, Japan has been perfecting the all-female or female-fronted band for decades now. Just off the top of my head(and some of these go way back): Nemophila that you just mentioned, Lovebites that I’m sure many people will tell you, but also(here we go) you’ll find bands like: GARNET CROW, Zard, Do as Inifinity, Trident, Stereopony, zone, Whiteberry, Scandal, Ikimono Gakari, Mary’s Blood, HanaBie, and many that I’m forgetting, as well as 2 of the most mind blowing singers of this or any generation in LiSA and Ado. I know it’s a long comment, but if you got through all of this I hope your daughter gets to hear some of these artists. 😊
@@thevikingbuddha Yep, the fans love the docs and will sit and watch them with you lol. For me personally, this is the most interesting and exciting band I've discovered in decades. I've now been through their entire back catalog many times, and haven't had so much fun with music since I was a kid. Fair warning: this is a creative band that is pretty fearless in their songwriting. I also wanted to mention that if you're looking for role models for your daughter, these women are not only insanely talented musicians, but they are top-shelf human beings: humble, caring, and incredibly appreciative of their fanbase (they've written 3-4 songs that are just thank you's to their fans). For your daughter, I'd recommend Daydreaming - it's a mid-tempo masterpiece.
East of Eden (song: This Moment), Bray me (Soda pop), NEK! (Maze), Hagane (Tenkagoken), TRiDENT (Ambivalent) and HANABIE. (Be the gal) would be my female suggestions. Enjoy J-pop and J-rock music! It's absolutely fantastic!
Hell[o.....you are dead on about this song.....Kanami (lead guitarist and composer) is widely considered a master composer . Her lead guitar work is some of the most melodic lead work since Santana ( one of her idols). The rest of the band are top notch musicians playing on all cylinders !!!!! Now wait till you see them live !!!!! You will be blown away....best live band I have ever seen and I have seen them all !!! BTW the vocalist is just as good as the rest of the band !!!!
There are literally dozens of all-female rock and metal bands in Japan and far fewer all-male bands. The overwhelming majority have at least one female musician, and even the less talented ones (by Japanese standards) are virtuosos. If wealth were measured in musical talent, today's Japan would be the richest country in human history.
They have over a 100 great songs in their catalog. Domination live is a good one to introduce yourself to their singer. Also You should check out a band called The Warning from Mexico and their live performance of Dust to Dust. Also check out Kids Rock for Kids cover of Boston’s Peace of Mind.
@thevikingbuddha Band-Maid and the Warning did a collaboration called Show Them on Band-Maid's latest album. Two great all female bands from across the world. The song is in English.
Viking Buddha , Welcome to BAND-MAID enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , this is the best band to introduce to your daughter , not only are they Phenomenal musicians , they are Phenomenal human beings no egos in the band very humble , and love there fans , TH-cam just posted your 2nd BAND-MAID video I'll be watching that soon .
Double post. Check out Endless Story from Yokohama for something completely different. But it shows how much they LOVE their fans. It brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. To see it is another level. This is the LAST song of the concert and Saiki is almost crying during some of the monologue during the song. I will admit I cried when I watched this. Again this is an over 3hr show. Anybody who was there I will be eternally jealous
I love Nemophila... but I love Band-Maid even more! Great reaction, Viking Buddha, subbed! I really hope we get to see you react to more from Band-Maid soon!
Respect! Now you know 2 of my 4 favourite bands. Nemophila and Band-Maid. Band-Maid is my favourite Hard-Rock Band and Nemophila is the best Crossover Band. If you like check out: --- The Best Classic Rock Band - "The Warning" (3 sisters from Mexico) --- The Best Heavy Metal Band - "Lovebites" (All female / Japan) Enjoy your journey!
Absolutely love Band Maid! If you are looking for a "western" female band you can't go wrong with 'The Warning', three sisters out of Monterey Mexico. Evolve from the VMA's is a good starting point

Band Maid are fantastic role models to introduce to your daughter, but also show her The Warning group of three sisters from Mexico who also play rock, majority of their songs are in English.
Great Reaction 🤟 Here's a Band-Maid recommendation, Anything.Litterally Anything out of their discography 130 or so + songs. You won't find a dud in the mix. All songs are 10's, its just that all 10's are not equal, if you're catching my drift. There's an avalanche of amazing female musical talent in Japan right now so many to choose from. They're literally growing God Tier Musical Artists on trees out there. Some suggestions: Hanabie - "Pardon Me I Have to Go Now - MV" Nek! - "Get Over - MV" Asterim - "Dawn - Live" or "Church - MV" Skandal - "AMDK - MV" Lsat but certainly not Least Glim Spanky - "Beautiful Thorns - MV or "Fools - MV" But def keep the Band-Maid Coming! Welcome to Band-Maid!!!!! ❤️💛💚💙💜
Band Maid for life. If you really, really like Rock, well it ain't an option anymore. So mayn influences, so many intricacies and dope tracks. Evevn the songs i don't love i still like
Welcome to BAND-MAID!!! Doesn't hurt to repeat what others have suggested. Play (Live), Real Existence (Live), HATE? (Live), Onset (Live), Puzzle (Live), Wonderland (Live), Magie (Live), Freedom (Live), Domination (Live), Don't you tell ME (Live), Dice (MV), Blooming (MV), Shambles (MV), Warning! (MV), Manners (MV), Rinne (MV), the non fiction days (MV), Glory (MV), Forbidden Tale (MV), Start Over (MV) or pick any video from them. Thanks and have a good day!!!
As awesome as these 4 ladies are, wait till you hear them with their vocalist, she is a true stage general, yes, 5 top tier musicians in one group. Currently one of the best touring rock groups in the business, been together for 11 years and still have the original lineup, they are best friends and true sisters in rock with little to no ego amongst them, in the 11+ yrs of making music they have put out 130+ songs, they are loved by the Maidiacs (fans), and they love us back
for your next Band-Maid song, may I suggest their latest release "Forbidden Tale". It really shows the strength of Saiki - the Vocalist, who was not present in this instrumental. These ladies are the real deal.
You: "What am I watching?!?!"
Me: Your new favorite band.
I'm excited to get into them.
Yes, please introduce your daughter to them. They deserve more young women fans and more importantly, young women deserve Band-Maid. Great reaction, you have much to enjoy from these girls.
Thank you.
Kanami, the lead guitarist, recently became the 1st Japanese artist to ever get a signature PRS guitar. Paul Reed Smith presented it to Mincho as a surprise at an event where all the MAIDS were in attendance. It was very emotional.
Wow, that's pretty special.
The first female and the only Japanese musician to be so honored! I think this elite group is less than 10 players or if over only a couple. Carlos Santana and John Mayer are part of this group of PRS honorees. @@thevikingbuddha
Mincho is very special to us maidiacs

With 120 tracks it's going to be a long ride.

“An impossibly hard rocking maid band.” The quote is from the BAND-MAID prime website.
Yeah, I'd go with that.
And sometimes known as five of the cutest musical badasses.
LOL
Thanks. I'm looking forward to the journey.
Here are a few of the OMVs I prefer over the LIVE versions:
THRILL
REAL EXISTENCE
MANNERS
The Non-Fiction Days
WARNING
SHAMBLES
SECRET MAIKO LIPS
The more you learn about the Maids the more you’ll love them. Their backstory is as good as their music!
Enjoy your trip down the pigeonhole! It’s an amazing journey!
Thank you so much. Can't wait to listen to more of their music and get to know them indiviually.
@@septimusseverus7237 I'm genuinely excited to hear more of their music.
@killiansred1000 cool

The audience decided to be part of the show as well ❤
Thank you. I'll definitely be sharing this.
1. Play an instrumental,
2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and
😂👍🏻🤘🏻
@@thevikingbuddha I hope it's warmed up a bit! Listen to more Band-Maid... that always gets me hotted up.
@@mightydegu I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for the comment

@@thevikingbuddha tremendous musicians still.
Nek is another great young band. First appeared with a bandmaid cover. Covering the maids is a kind of initiation for high-school or college bands.
Can't wait to get into their live music.
Thank you.
Love it. Thanks very much.
Saw them live twice last year on their US tour. Will be going to see them when their next US tour is announced.

I love that. They had some big shoes to fill and they do so effortlessly.
25. Order now!

"Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: th-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/w-d-xo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, You, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on.
But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, The One, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Protect You, Sense, Different, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): th-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/w-d-xo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 33 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po!
Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.

* Choose Me - the MV
* Dice
* Domination - live (*)
* Dont you tell me - live
* Freedom - live
* From now on - MV (*)
* Giovanni - instrumental
* Hate - live (*)
* Manners and Black Hole - covid live (*) - a groovy bass driven one and an insane prog song - those are show off things
* Onset - live or MV in the white room
* Play
* Puzzle
* Thrill - the old MV, the one that saved BAND-MAID from extinction (*)
* Without holding back - instrumental - MV in the white room
(*) You cannot miss
@@rolandkarlsson7072 Thank you so much. That's going to keep me very busy.
Thanks, I can''t wait to get into their back catalogue.
The best live band on the planet .
Best Hard Rock Live band..
Best Classic Rock Live Band = The Warning
Best Metal Live Band = Lovebites
@@daaaaaave Thanks so much. That's awesome, and makes me like them even more already.
Cheers!
Can't wait to see their live stuff.
Cheers
Lead guitarist Kanami and bassist Misa are both said to have absolute pitch.
That's cool.
You're next video from Band Maid needs to be "Hate?" Official Live Video. It'll knock your socks off!!! You'll love the singer Saiki. What an amazing voice. Please do that video next!!!! Welcome to the Maidiacs! haha
@@BusterVentura08 Yeah, I was planning on doing that next.
Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂

Hey Viking Buddha,
welcome to the world of Band-Maid.
Glad to have you on this journey !
Thank you.
Yay! A new Band-Maid fan. Welcome, brother.
Thank you. It seems that I am one of many.
I'm looking forward to hearing them both.
Best rock band I've ever seen live. And I saw Purple, Sabbath, Queen, Santana and many more in their prime.
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
I love that. I imagine that's why there is a lot of genre-bending music in Japan too. Arigato.
It’s not everyday that i hear the name of HAIM at a BAND-MAID reaction somehow. pretty glad since i like both of them😊
Glad to hear it.
“Where have you been all my life?”…that is how I felt too when I started listening to more and more Band-Maid. The more I listened and watched, the more I discovered and became totally hooked. They even have a song with Band Maid called " Show Them"
Thanks, a few others have mentioned them, I'll certainly be checking them out.
What are you watching? Only the best rock n roll band in the world w/ about 140 songs to their credit.
Yep, I know that now. What a band!
Thanks
That makes sense, why they do instrumentals. Thanks for the knowledge and recommendation
Cheers Doc.👍
Why do all love Hate? I don't think that it is a great introduction to Saiki... I love band maid and all their songs (including Hate) but some are better to introduce Band Maid to new listeners than others...😅

Haha. Love that, Nina Simone is a different class. What's proper music eh?

Commenting because I was touched by your desire to share this band with your daughter: BM is 100% head and shoulders above a lot of bands today.
If you must know where all the awesome female musicians are, Japan has been perfecting the all-female or female-fronted band for decades now.

This blows my mind.

I'll have my tissues at the ready.
I love Nemophila... but I love Band-Maid even more! Great reaction, Viking Buddha, subbed! I really hope we get to see you react to more from Band-Maid soon!
@@mikeholmes5308 You certainly will. Thanks
Respect! Now you know 2 of my 4 favourite bands. Nemophila and Band-Maid. Band-Maid is my favourite Hard-Rock Band and Nemophila is the best Crossover Band. If you like check out:
--- The Best Classic Rock Band - "The Warning" (3 sisters from Mexico)
--- The Best Heavy Metal Band - "Lovebites" (All female / Japan)
Enjoy your journey!
Both of those bands are on my list so I'll soon be on 100% 👍🏻
There are a number of young female bands around Asia who cover them.
Band-maid is a top live Band nice reaction greeting from germany
Thank you.
Absolutely love Band Maid! If you are looking for a "western" female band you can't go wrong with 'The Warning', three sisters out of Monterey Mexico. Evolve from the VMA's is a good starting point
Yeah, a few people have mentioned them. I'm going to check them out soon. Thanks
Subbed for the Band Maid Journey
and the Japanese female rock / metal journey with you have stumbled upon.
@@jamie.norris Thank you. I'm loving it so far and I've only just started.

I discovered *BAND-MAID* in 2019 and came to a realization that *BAND-MAID* more then just a rock band they are a band that does not have any boundaries and is willing experiment into different genre from (Blues, Rock, Punk and Jazz) and a lot of fans including me would say “you got to check out their live videos” from:
2017-STUDIO COAST
2018-Zepp Tokyo
2020-LINE CUBE SHIBUYA
2021-BAND-MAID ONLINE ACOUSTIC
In the end I realize that *BAND-MAID* more then just a band but a band that cares about each other and their fan base and in October of 2022 I had a fortune of experiencing them live and with that *BAND-MAID* cemented their Legacy into my heart. Rock On! 🤘

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the information and recommendations.
Band Maid are fantastic role models to introduce to your daughter, but also show her The Warning group of three sisters from Mexico who also play rock, majority of their songs are in English.
Yeah, a few people have mentioned them. Thank you.
Great Reaction 🤟
Here's a Band-Maid recommendation, Anything.Litterally Anything out of their discography 130 or so + songs. You won't find a dud in the mix. All songs are 10's, its just that all 10's are not equal, if you're catching my drift.
There's an avalanche of amazing female musical talent in Japan right now so many to choose from. They're literally growing God Tier Musical Artists on trees out there.
Some suggestions:
Hanabie - "Pardon Me I Have to Go Now - MV"
Nek! - "Get Over - MV"
Asterim - "Dawn - Live" or "Church - MV"
Skandal - "AMDK - MV"
Lsat but certainly not Least
Glim Spanky - "Beautiful Thorns - MV or "Fools - MV"
But def keep the Band-Maid Coming!

As awesome as these 4 ladies are, wait till you hear them with their vocalist, she is a true stage general, yes, 5 top tier musicians in one group. Currently one of the best touring rock groups in the business, been together for 11 years and still have the original lineup, they are best friends and true sisters in rock with little to no ego amongst them, in the 11+ yrs of making music they have put out 130+ songs, they are loved by the Maidiacs (fans), and they love us back
Incredible
for your next Band-Maid song, may I suggest their latest release "Forbidden Tale". It really shows the strength of Saiki - the Vocalist, who was not present in this instrumental. These ladies are the real deal.
Hate? will be dropping soon but I have so many more to do.
🤘🤘🤘🤘💙💙💙
