The moment where the guitarists gathered around the drummer is actually a funny interaction the Maids have between themselves. They were practicing hengao, the Japanese custom of making funny faces at someone to distract them. It never works, because Akane, the drummer, just keeps the beat and makes kissy faces at them. These Maids are always doing those kinds of funny things on stage to and with each other. That is also one of the reasons their concerts are so much fun.

A live Band-Maid concert is ALWAYS worth attending. The band's engagement with their audience is amazing. Their talent is apparent but their command of the audience is actually something to behold. Saiki's charismatic persona paired with her vocals always has the audience in the palms of her hands. We love her!
Yes, Domination is written by them like 99% of their songs post "Alone" (including all their full albums: Just Bring It, World Domination, Conqueror, Unseen World and Epic Narratives) 👍 . About your question: they still manage to surprise us (the old fans) after years of listening to them! About Saiki's presence: I had seen many videos before seeing them live, so I thought I knew what I would see. But 1/ it was even better than expected 2/ Saiki's stage presence must be seen IRL to believe it! She's the kind of singer who make you believe she sings for you, and everyone has the same feeling! It can't be translated in video.

I have been addicted to this band for about 7 years and I have no desire to shake that addiction. There always comes a time when you have played a track from a band so many times that you can get burned out on it. I have to reach such a point with Band-Maid. They are truly a genuinely rare band that provides a wide array of interesting music that is satisfying to the ear. I feel they are authentically honest with their musical expression when delivering that music live. They make you HAPPY! I was standing in line for a concert in Chicago . It was hot out, so some fans bought water bottles and pizza to pass down the block long line! People of all ages. All getting along regardless of race, sex etc. Their concerts are more than music. The MAIDIAC community is awesome! ❤
Old rock fan here. I dropped away from most popular music for many years. Finding Band-Maid on YT during the shutdowns brought rock back into my life. They are just amazing. I rarely ever found an album that I didn't skip many of the songs but with theirs I don't skip. For me it isn't that every new song is a new favorite but every song I listen to, even if it is for the 100th time sticks in my mind so I hum it until another takes its place. The songs that first hooked me were "Choose Me" and "Play" the live versions. I don't think there has ever been a band like this in my life. YMMV
As many people have mentioned, when you listen to a song you suddenly hear something new that you never thought of before. For example, I was listening to Choose Me. I suddenly noticed how they play their guitars to emphasize things in the lyrics. Something I never thought of and I've probably heard that song 100 times before. I think that's why I really love these girls. You realize that their ability to create music goes beyond ordinary.
To answer one of your very good questions to us the fans, no, you will never get used to them or tire, their diversity of songs will blow you away. You haven't heard their softer side yet and it's just as powerful in it's way as the bangers. Then you have the acoustics shows, Band Maiko ( look it up!!), they do not have ANY muiscal ruts, so much diversity and its all equally excellent. Personally, it’s always “new” in a way each time I listen because there are bits that I find to catch my attention or interest. They have so much variety in style and mood with each song I never tire of them.
Great reaction and yes, the last song heard is the current favorite and I never get tried to listening to their songs and surprised at times, I keep hearing things I missed. Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid.
When Saiki joined the band she was shy and uncomfortable up front. Now she’s the definition of a front woman. Kanami, aka Mincho, will write the songs then send them to each member for their input. She’s not selfish and has said many songs are ‘cooler’ than her original ideas. Jimmy Page happened to watch one of their shows and was so impressed by Akane he wanted to meet her. I found the picture on YT and have a copy of it but can’t send it in the comments area.
Brilliant. And what a good question: “When do you get used to this?” In my experience, you get used to never getting used to it. Every new listen to a Band Maid song is like opening a present from your children. Many times, the reaction is exactly what happened to you here. But sometimes, it shorts out your circuitry. However, I have also learned to “Trust in Mincho.” If you don’t quite get what the song is doing on first try? Keep coming back to it. Eventually, the Maid Magic will clarify everything for you. “Giovanni” anyone? 😊 It’s obvious by the things you notice and the way you express yourself that you have massive sonic rewards ahead of you. Band Maid is a musician’s band who respects their audience. They write with both the casual listener and music theorist in mind. They do more work in their songwriting and arrangements with a single song than some bands do on an entire album. I look forward to seeing you open more gifts from the Maids 🤘🏽
Going on three years. I’m still not used to them because it’s never the same! Even their USA tour the songs changed. They do not follow any rules but to keep getting better .
Band Maid is: MIKU (mee-koo) Rhythm guitar, backing vocals. She writes the lyrics and is the band’s founder. She is “the little pigeon”. KANAMI (kah-nah-mee) Lead guitar. A classically trained musician, she writes and arranges all the music. “Mincho” MISA (mee-sah) Bass. The band’s secret weapon. She owns the left side of the stage. “The barefoot assassin”. AKANE (ah-kah-neh) The Happiest drummer on Earth. “The Gorilla” is the other half of the best rhythm section on this planet. Watch her and Misa lock eyes at one point almost every live song. SAIKI (sigh-kee) Lead vocals. Front man. “The Ice Queen”, She’s also the team mom.
The song is written / arranged by the band members themselves. Usual suspects Miku Kobato lyrics, Kanami Tono music. Miku wrote the lyrics for the 14 of the 15 songs of the album and Kanami did most of the music / orchestration. The songs are refined by the creative input of the bassist, drummer and main singer. Usually they spice up their live versions. For example "Hate?" is much more tame in the studio version, same goes with "Play".
@@thevikingbuddha The first note you hear in this video is the last note of "Play". If you're listening to that, you understand why the audience is so hyped from the start of "Domination".
This song is from "BAND-MAID WORLD DOMINATION TOUR - Shinka" held by BAND-MAID at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14, 2020 Setlist: 01-Rinne 02-Blooming 03-Screaming 04-Dilemma 05-glory 06-FREEDOM 07-Choose me 08-PAGE 09-Mirage 10-catharsis 11-Bubble 12-The Dragon Cries 13-I can't live without you. 14-TIME 15-Wonderland 16-alone 17-DICE 18-Don't you tell ME 19-Play 20-DOMINATION 21-endless Story
Welcome to the Unseen World that leads to World Domination through the power of the pigeon. TinyHat-san is glad to see your review of the best live rock band on the planet.
Yes every next song is your new favorite. 😊 My current favorite is "The One" from their new album there's no music video yet. The song is on TH-cam and is so rich! Dedicated to Kanami's Grandmother who passed away 😢 but sooo goood!
As a long-time Maidiac, I expect greatness from them and they always exceed my expectations, both live and in the studio. I've seen them in concert several times now and it's always amazing. Is every new song my new favorite? That's complicated. I've always refused to pick a favorite song by Band-Maid, because they're all great (seriously, they don't have average or mediocre songs, let alone bad ones). Their new album Epic Narratives finally made me admit to a favorite, though. Imo Forbidden Tale is the best song I've ever heard, so I can't deny that it's my favorite. The rest of the album is great, too. Another comment mentioned how much greater Saiki's stage presence is in person. This is 100% true. You hear her in the studio, she's great. You heat her live, she's amazing. You hear her live acoustic, even more so. But when she's three feet in front of you, she's unworldly. She's great at making eye contact too, which is surprising considering her natural shyness. Absolutely the best rock vocalist I've ever seen, and I've seen many of the legends (Dio, Halford, Dickinson, Tate, etc.).
Among many qualities, their songs have a high "repeatability quotient". You can listen to a song day in and day out without it getting stale. As for instant favorite, still mostly the case. Except some of their recent songs have been so complex, it took multiple exposure to wrap my head around it.
There is one person that really controls all the timing changes and rhythms, and that is Akane (Drums). You can imagine- without a drummer that's on the money there songs could end up a dogs dinner. The genre is Band-Maid.
I watch both reactions, and their original own channel vids, and I watch them a lot. But I make sure I don't watch them all because I want to save some special moments for the future. I ration them. For instance I just watched YOLO for the first time last night. I knew it would be good because it gets requested a lot. And it was. I have a lot left to view and I still expect to be surprised when I see them. Great job reacting to this classic Maids performance.
I do not know if anyone told you that Band-Maid and The Warning are fans of each other. When The Warning visited Japan they played a concert with Band-Maid and introduced a new song "Show Them". The music video is available on Band-Maids TH-cam page. It is a little lighter than what the bands usually do, but it does feature both bands. Band-Maid does have a tendency mix genres and do things differently. When most bands drop a new song it is: I like their genre, I wonder if the song is good? Band-Maid is more like: This song is gonna be good, I wonder what genre it is? But if you want a 'classic' rock song with some solid drumming, I can recommend 'Freedom official live'. I think it will be your new favorite 😉
Thanks, yeah I have heard that. I wanted to wait until I was more familiar with both bands before reacting to their collab. Freedom is on my list so hopefully I'll get round to that soon.
they've written over 100 of their own songs. Every one I hear becomes my new favorite. I haven't heard a single one that I would put at the bottom of the list. I've been listening to rock since the 1960s, an that's not something I can say about any other band, except maybe Pink Floyd.
That first sound you hear in the beginning of this video is the last note of their song "Play". What was that, about a half a second before this song started? These ladies are non-stop fun to watch in concert. It never gets old hearing these songs hundreds of times... They are a tight group and even fun to see in a small club. This is a fan cam from the last show I went to at Ace Of Spades Sacramento CA. th-cam.com/video/MKQOrYduHCw/w-d-xo.html
One part of this video I love to point out - right after the intense guitar "battle" between Kanami and Miku, Miku actually falls down on her butt! You can see her pop back up when the camera switches to Akane right after! Literally takes a fall and never misses a beat.
when do you get used to it? Never, that's the point. OMG - if you can only see Nemophila live, these wild cats will take your breath away. Japanese metal has driven the live performance to a cult. That is the biggest compliment to a band - can you replicate, if not better, what you do in the singing booth or in practice - live, in front of a crowd, and make it sound like a studio recording. Band-Maid always does it - extended solos, treats for the fans, and things they omit from the album versions. Nemophila live, I promise you, you will be dumbfounded...
They could've written them back then and Alone, being by far the most sophisticated track musically on their 3rd offering is proof. The success of Thrill, a band chosen B-sides, certainly gave them some clout to at least choose what they recorded after the first album.
Do you get used to this band ? For me never and that just blows my mind, if it ever came down to the choice of beer or BAND-MAID I'd be giving up that glorious frothy brew, good thing I'll never have to make that choice and the fact that beer and B-M exist on this planet at the same time almost has me believing in miracles 👍🍻🎼
Band-Maid, doing Band-Maid things my friend. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite songs of theirs is, my answer is always "Yes" lol. After "Alone" might I suggest the music video for "Yolo" or "Daydreaming"? Cheers.
Use to it? That's difficult to say. You start to expect the unexpected after a while. But then, if there isn't something unexpected, that's unexpected!
Great reaction.👍 Nemophila and Band-Maid are two of my favorite Japanese girl bands, Lovebites is not my cup of tea, but they are definitely a great band. There are many more incredible Japanese girl bands like Show-Ya, Aldious, Gacharic Spin, Trident, Doll$Boxx, KOIAI or East of Eden, etc, etc... but it would be a mistake to lose sight of the male or mixed bands.. Two of the most important are ONMYOUZA, "The Nine Tail Fox And The Killing Stone": th-cam.com/video/cFLu00OMd9c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_BOr7JXr7xu-YAQF and WAGAKKI BAND, "Hakushu Kassai": th-cam.com/video/Kli0M-dmoeo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Fjdn839wF2tWHLKK Wagakki Band in Japan is even bigger than Band-Maid, Nemophila and Lovebites combined.😆
When the rest go up to Akane like that they're all making faces to make her mess up. You never get used to it because every song is different. Koanami (lead gtr) is a rock genius. Mikulski writes most of the lyrics.
You mentioned playing drums. In that case you really should check Freedom live video. And then something totally different with insane drums: the current Nightwish drummer Kai Hahto with his previous band Wintersun, Sons of Winter and Stars Live Rehersals at Sonic Pump Studios.
There’s been an odd song here and there where Kanami-san doesn’t do a guitar solo. Those are the times I’m surprised. Also, when MISA-san’s bass guitar sound doesn’t come forward. That’s strange. Otherwise, it sort of took me about 6 songs when I realized that I’m a fan for life. Those 6 songs… maybe 30 minutes. 😂
Saiki is a great lead vocalist but she’s not Band-Maid’s front woman, that would be founder, rhythm guitarist, wordsmith and vocalist Miku, who is also a part time pigeon. This will become clear eventually. Saiki has taken a decade to learn how to be this confident and commanding, Miku’s been doing it since she was a baby. Do you get used to it? Yeah, the bar just rises, which is bad for most other bands.
You do kind of get used to it, you see Band Maid and know it’s going to be great, you just don’t know what kind of great. That being said, have you checked out Gacharic Spin? I suggest “I Wish I” like Band Maid they are best seen live, also anything from Bridear but I’ll suggest Brave New World Revisited.
They are fire... Speaking of fire, you should definitely check Bring Me the Horizon - limousine live in japan featuring AURORA (th-cam.com/video/zc9A2FLNt_Y/w-d-xo.html)

It's just BAND-MAID doing BAND-MAID things.

Thanks John.
I’m in awe every time I watch them, so I don’t get used to it at all. I really enjoyed your reaction, so well done.
Thank you very much.
Band Maid doing Band Maid things . They never stop blowing your scalp back
Personally, it’s always “new” in a way each time I listen because there are bits that I find to catch my attention or interest. They have so much variety in style and mood with each song I never tire of them.
Cool
You might enjoy Ohrenje’s documentary series focusing on each band member. 👍
@@TheVleckChannel Thanks.
I second this. But in order!
Great reaction and yes, the last song heard is the current favorite and I never get tried to listening to their songs and surprised at times, I keep hearing things I missed. Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid.
Thanks for the comment.
Band-Maid. Domination! Nuff said! Thx, V-Bud! 🎀😂🤘
You're welcome.
Somehow every song surprises you and still sounds like band maid. You never get used to it, you just come to be enthralled by it.
That's very cool.
They are" The Perfect Beast"
Brilliant. And what a good question: “When do you get used to this?”
In my experience, you get used to never getting used to it.
It’s obvious by the things you notice and the way you express yourself that you have massive sonic rewards ahead of you. Band Maid is a musician’s band who respects their audience. They write with both the casual listener and music theorist in mind. They do more work in their songwriting and arrangements with a single song than some bands do on an entire album.
I look forward to seeing you open more gifts from the Maids 🤘🏽
Thank you so much. I'm very much looking forward to it. I like the present analogy.
Going on three years. I’m still not used to them because it’s never the same! Even their USA tour the songs changed. They do not follow any rules but to keep getting better .
That's cool.
Band Maid is:
MIKU (mee-koo)
Rhythm guitar, backing vocals. She writes the lyrics and is the band’s founder. She is “the little pigeon”.
KANAMI (kah-nah-mee)
Lead guitar. A classically trained musician, she writes and arranges all the music. “Mincho”
MISA (mee-sah)
Bass. The band’s secret weapon. She owns the left side of the stage. “The barefoot assassin”.
AKANE (ah-kah-neh)
The Happiest drummer on Earth. “The Gorilla” is the other half of the best rhythm section on this planet. Watch her and Misa lock eyes at one point almost every live song.
SAIKI (sigh-kee)
Lead vocals. Front man. “The Ice Queen”,
She’s also the team mom.
Interesting. Thanks.
@@thevikingbuddha The first note you hear in this video is the last note of "Play". If you're listening to that, you understand why the audience is so hyped from the start of "Domination".
@nussekuddenxxx6564 That's cool.

Welcome to the Unseen World that leads to World Domination through the power of the pigeon. TinyHat-san is glad to see your review of the best live rock band on the planet.
Thank you.
Best. Song.
It's awesome.

When I see Band-Maid, I like and subscribe 🤘
Thank you very much. You'll be seeing plenty more of them from me.
Yes every next song is your new favorite. 😊 My current favorite is "The One" from their new album there's no music video yet. The song is on TH-cam and is so rich! Dedicated to Kanami's Grandmother who passed away 😢 but sooo goood!
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Great comment. I've heard forbidden tale is good. I'll definitely react to that at some point.
Among many qualities, their songs have a high "repeatability quotient". You can listen to a song day in and day out without it getting stale. As for instant favorite, still mostly the case. Except some of their recent songs have been so complex, it took multiple exposure to wrap my head around it.
@@DAVID-io9nj Interesting, thanks.
There is one person that really controls all the timing changes and rhythms, and that is Akane (Drums). You can imagine- without a drummer that's on the money there songs could end up a dogs dinner. The genre is Band-Maid.
@@grahamreed8774 Absolutely. Most people underestimate the importance of a drummer.
Nice idea. If it wasn't doing this I'd be binge watching, I don't have the will power.
I think I have said "thats my new FAV about 50 times !!!!!
😂
What's my favorite BAND-MAID song? That's easy, the next one!
😂
they've written over 100 of their own songs. Every one I hear becomes my new favorite. I haven't heard a single one that I would put at the bottom of the list. I've been listening to rock since the 1960s, an that's not something I can say about any other band, except maybe Pink Floyd.
100 songs is crazy!
Thanks, I'll check that out.
Not got to that point yet and I hope I never do. They never stop raising the bar with each new song.
You just get used to being hit by a train. It’s a Band- Maid thing. Kanami is a phenomenal composer and talented guitar player.
If you watch closely, right after the Mincho/ Miku face off, Miku falls on her butt. Typical Pigeon!
Love how you see her head pop back up right after lol.
No she doesn't, she just step down from the "egobox"
Haha, didn't notice that.
🤘🤘🤘
One part of this video I love to point out - right after the intense guitar "battle" between Kanami and Miku, Miku actually falls down on her butt! You can see her pop back up when the camera switches to Akane right after!
Literally takes a fall and never misses a beat.
I need to watch again.
when do you get used to it? Never, that's the point. OMG - if you can only see Nemophila live, these wild cats will take your breath away. Japanese metal has driven the live performance to a cult. That is the biggest compliment to a band - can you replicate, if not better, what you do in the singing booth or in practice - live, in front of a crowd, and make it sound like a studio recording. Band-Maid always does it - extended solos, treats for the fans, and things they omit from the album versions. Nemophila live, I promise you, you will be dumbfounded...
I'll keep my eye out for tickets.
They could've written them back then and Alone, being by far the most sophisticated track musically on their 3rd offering is proof. The success of Thrill, a band chosen B-sides, certainly gave them some clout to at least choose what they recorded after the first album.
❤🕊👀😁🍻
Do you get used to this band ? For me never and that just blows my mind, if it ever came down to the choice of beer or BAND-MAID I'd be giving up that glorious frothy brew, good thing I'll never have to make that choice and the fact that beer and B-M exist on this planet at the same time almost has me believing in miracles 👍🍻🎼
MISA Approved 💯
🍻
@@MnPofBM 🤣😁👍🍻
You get used to not getting used to it!
I've almost gotten used to The Maids dropping my jaw REGULARLY, and I'm 4 years a Maidiac...almost (he says with a bruised lower jaw). 🕊
Haha. I'll just have to get used to it then.
❤🐦
Band-Maid, doing Band-Maid things my friend. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite songs of theirs is, my answer is always "Yes" lol. After "Alone" might I suggest the music video for "Yolo" or "Daydreaming"? Cheers.
@@donaldcharbonneau537 😂
Use to it? That's difficult to say. You start to expect the unexpected after a while. But then, if there isn't something unexpected, that's unexpected!
@@zer0tzer0 Haha, got it.
🤘🤘🤘💙💙
Great reaction.👍
Nemophila and Band-Maid are two of my favorite Japanese girl bands, Lovebites is not my cup of tea, but they are definitely a great band.
There are many more incredible Japanese girl bands like Show-Ya, Aldious, Gacharic Spin, Trident, Doll$Boxx, KOIAI or East of Eden, etc, etc... but it would be a mistake to lose sight of the male or mixed bands.. Two of the most important are ONMYOUZA, "The Nine Tail Fox And The Killing Stone": th-cam.com/video/cFLu00OMd9c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_BOr7JXr7xu-YAQF and WAGAKKI BAND, "Hakushu Kassai": th-cam.com/video/Kli0M-dmoeo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Fjdn839wF2tWHLKK
Wagakki Band in Japan is even bigger than Band-Maid, Nemophila and Lovebites combined.😆
Thanks. I need to check them out.
When the rest go up to Akane like that they're all making faces to make her mess up. You never get used to it because every song is different. Koanami (lead gtr) is a rock genius. Mikulski writes most of the lyrics.
Yeah, someone else mentioned thst. I love it.
Wait until you hear some of the B side... that should be A sides. Corallium, Moratorium, Matchless Gum, Hibana.
Thanks
You mentioned playing drums. In that case you really should check Freedom live video. And then something totally different with insane drums: the current Nightwish drummer Kai Hahto with his previous band Wintersun, Sons of Winter and Stars Live Rehersals at Sonic Pump Studios.
Thanks, I already have Freedom live on my list but I've now added Wintersun.
I'll be on 6 songs pretty soon and I'm already hooked.
I've asked Akane, at least 3 times, to marry me.
She's never said yes 😥...
but she's never said no, either 😊
So there's a chance🤞
Keep trying. You never know.
de uma olhada em "domination instrumental" mv white room
Thanks
Did you listen to “show them” with Band maid and The Warning .?
Not yet, but I will.
4 down, over 100 more to go.😅
Haha, I'll get there.
Not yet, but a lot of people have mentioned them. I need to settle in to everyone I'm watching at the moment, otherwise I'll get confused.
They are fire... Speaking of fire, you should definitely check Bring Me the Horizon - limousine live in japan featuring AURORA (th-cam.com/video/zc9A2FLNt_Y/w-d-xo.html)
I've heard it. Great song.
