    Clint, the more I watch your videos the more I am impressed! You can jump in and drive any piece of equipment, work on it and haul it home from the auction! You sir are a jack of all trades!

    To many years ago to count, I had a job with a guy who did land clearing in South Texas. His haul truck was an old single axle GMC with a 4-71 GMC diesel that had a cracked block, so he ran engine oil in the radiator. The transmission was an old twin stick with some regearing to allow it to handle the weight of the equipment. The trailer was a dual axle float that was picked up with a winch line. My most memorable moment was loading an Euclid bulldozer with a very heavy Garwood blade. By walking the 'dozer almost over the end of the trailer, he could use the winch to pick up the float and lock it into the fifth wheel. Then he backed the tractor up and set the blade onto the last six inches of the deck. After, draining the excess oil out of the crankcase and pouring it back into the radiator to get the "water" temperature back below 200 degrees, we got into the truck and headed for the next job site. On the way there, I noticed the driver began to work the two gearshifts with both hands, hanging his arm in the steering wheel trying not to coast during his shifts. I understood when I saw us approaching a hill. The driver asked me to steer as he began two handed downshifting as we lost speed on the grade. When we were in bottom gear, we opened the doors as the old 4-71 began to lose rpm. We topped the rise with about 450 RPM on the tach. As we leveled out, the old engine began to gradually pick up RPM and we both breathed a lot easier. When we could, the driver pulled over and we drained the excess oil out of the crankcase and put it back into the radiator. The rest of the trip was uneventful.

    I met you through DP Mike, I enjoyed this one so most like love anything you toss up as I loved trucking and Mechanicing myself. Now 72 and a crippled retired mechanic with trucking experience. Back many years ago, hauled a load out of Pennsylvania from a auction... before hauling the load quite the experience of theft in a major way as my load description was a case excavator and lot ticket no., so seen machine an immediately called owner in washington state. He told me I was right so went looking myself and did find right machine in a different row of equipment that was going to be loaded out, called the cops, they come full boogie with ten cars or so. Pointed out right machine an my ticket no., which "John" was on phone waiting.... it all got straightened out but while I was leaving with right machine another guy was over at the same place I was at and sure enough he being the owner knew what was what. It wasn't someone playing tricks, the guy was trading lot tickets on machines cause that was all they had on them, nothing in glass or machine, just tags. I just barely caught mine or we would of both lost right machines.... crazy hu?? That was in 1972 and trust me, equipment has come a long way since then. I was driving a narrow nose Pete with a 220 cummins an no turbo or inner coolers etc.. I wrestled those two sticks all the way home. I have had pickups with more power than it had.... for a while as we learned about buttons, stingers, springs an yes, it was my own truck. I never touched anything but dip sticks on other peoples rigs.

    Nothing wrong with making side deals at auctions (unless the auctioneer / seller explicitly prohibits it). I collect old electric meters and one year, another bidder and I bought 15+ pallets of used electric meters the local municipal utility had replaced, for barely $100 total. I offered my half to the other guy (a scrapper) for the right to search them all for any models I didn't have. It was backbreaking work a few weeks later, but I found a few I didn't have, including a mint 1950s model that only needed the glass cleaned. Still had the factory sticker and seal on the back!

    Yes I do enjoy watching you hall your equipment, I am retired from driving truck, at one time in my career I worked for a excavation Co that done excavation work for new gas wells to be constructed, my job was hauling the equipment from job to job throughout the day and if I would get caught up and they needed an operator I would fill in. Now that I’m retired I have a small lawn and garden equipment repair shop. So I not only enjoy the trucking part of your content I really enjoy watching the repairs that you do, you really do a good job on your filming you really get into detail, you done a real nice job on dirt perfect’s low boy, I guess I started following you when dirt perfect started whining about the dozer that he bought off of you, I lost a lot of respect for him over that situation of throwing you under the bus before he gave you a chance, I have the upmost admiration for the way you handled that situation, I know you’re a businessman and sometimes you have to deal with ignorance, but he is a businessman also and I know that he wouldn’t appreciate one of his customers Doing him the way he treated you on TH-cam. But God only expects us to be his hands and feet and he will deal with the rest of the people in the world. You and Chris on let’s dig, out of the heavy equipment content that I follow on TH-cam, You and Chris are my favorite videos! If I had a bucket list, spending some time in the seat behind the controls of one of those Komatsu D475A dozers would probably just send me over the top! Keep up the good work brother you make my day!

    I can remember when I was taking my CDL test and I’ll never forget what my instructor said,….D.O.T. will never pull you over for having too many chains securing your load…. So when in doubt throw a few more on…I don’t know if every state is the same on this but in Pa it’s 1 chain per 10’ of load, I guess I was one of them just in case drivers because I always added more than needed….” Just in case “ I’ve always done it that way. Unfortunately I don’t drive anymore, thanks to a person running me off the road and rolling over, ended up messing a lot of things up and took me about 3 years to learn to walk and a bunch of other stuff… And all that matters is I’m alive.

    I am woefully late to viewing this video (been doing some catching up on your channel videos).., those are some pretty big pieces of iron (excavators)…, good deal on the quick re-sale of the one.
    Love watching this kind of stuff, looking forward to more auction pre-view videos…, I don’t know “jack” about the equipment, the biggest thing I run is a 40hp, rubber tire Kubota tractor, and an old 1966 Dodge C500 dump truck, (gravel for my drive way), around my property.
    Thank you sir.

    Clint... Question for you. I noticed that you opted for not using the outriggers with the 330. Just wondering why? My rule of thumb is that if the center of the sprocket is on, or overhanging, the frame rail, I run the outriggers to keep from bending the top of the rail over time. I'm sure you have seen older trailers where both sides are slanted. taping exhaust.. Funny, I do the same and for the exact same reason.. As a matter of fact, I have bags made of canvas that I slip over exhausts. I mentioned exhausts on Dirt Perfect's driver's channel and was promptly told it was a debunked myth. Try leaving a manufacturer's property with a new piece of equipment without coverings. Apparently, they don't know about the debunking of the myth. A long ago employer of mine had to actually replace the turbo on a Cat 950F wheel loader after I hauled it about 300 miles with exhaust coverings. Hard lesson learned by a young heavy equipment hauler. Nice video.

    • @C_CEQUIPMENT
      @C_CEQUIPMENT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks
      I have used the outriggers a few times and have the boards for them in the center of the trailer
      So my main trailer boards stick up a bit and the tracks don’t put much pressure if any on the side rails. Now if the undercarriage was worn out very bad and had allot of flex then that might be a different story
      Now on a rubber tire machine that’s overwidth I may use them!
      I always figure it’s cheap insurance on covering the exhaust and always specify it when I have other people haul my equipment in I buy. If it’s not covered when it shows up to my shop it gets noted on BOL and if turbo is bad the trucking company is out. I have had about 2 machines coming in with bad turbos from hauling that’s way!
