Hi, is there any chance the frank green animation will be turned into a course in the future? I think it was available on your website subscription but I wasn't part of the newsletter receivers back then. I'd buy it even if it was on udemy to be honest. I love your animation style 😊😊😊

Learning Blender is the best thing I ever did! Thanks for the shoutout, too!
How dare you tell us we must put effort in learning to get good at something?!
This video is a gem.
I cannot emphasize enough how right you are. Above all, find the niche. I started freelancing almost two years ago and even though I wanted to sell myself as a 3D artist, I had tons of other things on my website like film, photography, UXD and even more... the result: little to no orders. Then I focused on creating 3D characters, but especially realistic animals, more specifically insects. Now the jobs just keep coming and I had the pleasure of working for Disney+, National Geographic, and various ads for TV. I don't want to brag about this... ok, maybe a little because I'm so proud of it, but most of all I want to give new freelancers hope that if you have good skills and a niche, it really is possible to make a good living out of it!
Best of luck to all of you!
I'm trying to become a freelancer, how did you market yourself and how well did it work? Congrats on the success btw!
@@emobondingexperience hey man, thank you! :)
I put some projects on my website and then contacted people through email, LinkedIn and/or Instagram. Some paid jobs didn’t come about until half a year after I got in touch… so be patient :D
But I’d say what brought me the most work was posting consistently on instagram and LinkedIn. LinkedIn is the place where HRs are looking for good people to work with.
Hope this helps
Just curious... Why insects? Can we see them? 🤩
After 4 years of blender journey, I approve this message 👍
I am only 3 mins into the video and I had to come to comments to say that your editing is literally on another level the amount of time and work you put on the videos to get to this result are highly appreciated ✨❤️
Solid stuff, man, this info applies to life outside 3d just as well.
Thanks, good point!
You can't imagine how much I needed this video. Thank you so much
just watch ducky3d until you pass out
😂😂
Had to stop the lesson to say - killer material here. You're actually sharing practical, actionable steps. Real tools we can apply. This is pure gold, thanks mate!
I came for Blender, ended up playing Skyrim.
The Trap is EXACTLY what ive been struggling with in making my own game. And changing my goals from outcome to activity is exactly how I'm dealing with it.
I just wanted to say, THANK YOU.
I just started blender recently, and your videos helps SO MUCH with where i should go on my blender journey! Ive tried learning other stuff before, but ive always been overwhelmed by not knowing what to even do.
Now im close to making my first human model in blender. It doesn't look that good, but its smth i never thought id achieve.
Youre a lifesaver for me and so many new blender beginners :D
Had me dieing of laughter at the bandicam tutorial part lol, your videos are top tier, im glad im subbed.
What an amazing video! The graphics supporting your explanation was rlly well done and so fun to watch.
And comedy amd jokes were top tier😂😂
I need to watch this again and take notes. Thanks so much for sharing this wisdom👏
Not only was this video genuinely useful, it reminded me of a long lost childhood game I forgot the name of! Blinx the time sweeper was amazing and i've always wondered where some of the oddly familiar music you use in your videos came from. Thank you so much 😭
What a great approach with the videogame analogy, Smeaf! I used to play a lot of World of Warcraft, but I never thought about how the quests and leveling up really work to dive into the world of not just Blender but 3D in general and even any other skill anyone should dare to learn! Great video, as always! 🔥🙌
Thank you! I've been learning Blender for almost a year and a half. I've succeeded in downloading over 400+ GB worth of tutorials and am extremely overwhelmed by everything. I've found myself drowning in confusion and losing track of my progress due to watching too many tutorials. it was amazing getting to hear all of this, I'll be happy if I could get a printout of this road maps and try implementing it more practically
Best video ever, can also be applied to any skill!! From drawing to dancing.
The most valuable video I’ve watched in years. I’m actually closer to the music side of things, but I can see how what you’re describing also applies to music making, or any art form for that matter. Thank you for all the effort you put into this video. It shows.
This is one of THE videos
Thank you for making 🎉🎉
aw perfect for me! im going to start learn blender today! thank you so much!
one of the best video you have made!!
congrats on 200k!
This was such a great video thank you!
Amazing video, an in depth guide on how to get started in blender, the amount of detail in those few seconds animation clips put all throughout the video, it so engaging and it slowly allows the viewer to visualize it so well! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the like and keep up the great work!
Wow bro, crazy video! Thank you so much!
Thank you for your work!
Thank you so much, This was an amazing video!
I feel so seen. Thank you for making this video
I feel like a worksheet or an outliner would be helpful in starting to break this down and apply it
I have strong fundamentals in drawing, animating and found my niche when I was still a teen and it sustained me for 20 years. I’ve never been into 3d and even vector but seeing the move in the animation industry to make things look more traditional I’ve felt like learning 3d over the past few years but always got stuck and took breaks. Specifically blender grease pencil I just can’t get my head around it but I’m definitely glad you put this road map out I’m gonna give it a go cheers bro!
Hey love your videos! I also studied in SAE in Jordan, and started 3d with blender in 2017, learned Blender in my extra time and I fell in love with it... my method of learning it was just random, I've spent time doing sculpting, texturing, modeling, etc. I applied what I learned into actual work, like I used After effects to create videos and then I started slowly combin my Blender knowlige to video, VFX, products and more.
This is what i have done, but on different's softwares, now i could understand why it was easy for me and thanks for re explaining it to me. Nice room by the way.🤘
Wow! That is helpful, thanks! Now I can really start off!
Thanks for this wonderful video, friend! We often forget why we do what we do and most of the time it is what keeps us moving forward. To learn Blender or anything else. Thank you and I hope I can start learning Bender soon.
thanks so much smeaf this is amazing
Love your videos, even I'm a ''Mayan'' myself lol. Always a satisfying and fun watch!
Amazing video man, thank you
Dude, THANK YOU! the amount of effort you puto into this video is INSANE. I'm a fashion and still life photographer and it's been so long since I wanted to learn Blender but for years I felt I didn't know where to start. I wrote down the whole map and I now believe I have much more clear idea thanks to you! Thank you again! Hugs from Italy
I love the Wii music, soundeffects and the hand :D nostalgia is hitting me
this helped so much ngl ty!
Thank you.
From the bottom of my heart, you have opened my eyes
In an amazing twist of fate I stumbled upon this in the middle of absolute frustration trying to model a snail and I'm glad I did. Still fighting this snail, but I have the drive to keep going as well as adding in what I learned from this video. The biggest hurdle for me at the moment is sharing my work, I've always been that person that doesn't show a painting until it's perfect (and now learning 3d my ass is getting kicked repeatedly...every day 😅) but I also know I need to share to grow, so going to start sharing my pieces as I go along knowing full well they are super amateurish and one day I can look back and cringe and be so thankful for how far I made it. Sorry for the absolute ramble, I just wanted to thank you even though I now have an insane urge to play skyrim
Thank you SMEAF
This is quality content, I mean so much work and effort has been put into this video
I enjoyed this video. It was helpful. PS. The transitions into other videos are insane!
Thank you so much i just saved this on a new playlist for learning. Well. Anything i guess? And its so well explained! I really needed this :)
This vid is fantastic. Thank you
This is how I have been learning blender for films trust me it works smeef knows what he is talking about.
Awsome video, truly a gem! I will apply these principles for my art journey. I hope its going to help me to evolve. Thank you)
i know everything after finished donut tutorial, and everyone else still figuring out
comic timming ...........
nailed it brother
Smeaf is about to hit 200K Let's GOOO!!!!!
great work man nice explanation
Hey Smeaf, Really been appreciating your videos .. i know what you mean about rushing to the end. Ive been using blender on and off for some time for arch viz...( its easy to just download models and place in a scene and call it done) but this year i decided to take the learning seriously. I'd say I tried to run ahead and try to make a quick buck...as you said "it doesnt end well". I started really learning this year and..big surprise ....like john snow i knew nothing lmao....all this to say what you said resonated and ill be following this method. Keep up the good work . I actually started posting my finished tutorials on an instagram page. i didnt do it for likes or comments just for saying to myself this task is done and somewhere to save it.
I love this video!!! Mostly because the first step is so general. You can use it for anything you want to do. Thank you
Ps.: Love your Skyrim links
Wow just thank you
My experience with Blender, I subdivide every topic I wish to learn, searched about the best courses about every topic and ask to google gemini organize the content by complexity, now I'm following that list, help a lot the things and the sense of progress , hugs from Brazil
Thank you for this video, I'm trying to learn 3d animation using blender, this is helping a lot!
i got into blender because i tried to create jiggle mods for skyrim, i've been using it for a few weeks and and damn using and learning blender is my fav pastime now..
i really appreciate the stuff you upload. keep up the good work bro!
As a visual arts college student close to his bachelor I can comfortably state that I am currently in the "valley of dispair"-phase part of the dunning kruger graph that represents basically anything I'm learning. The comforting part is that the more often you find yourself in it, the easier it'll get to aknowledge that it's normal and everyone has to go through it, which makes it a lot easier to keep moving forward.
This is an amazing content, a very in-depth explanation of a very concrete way of learning Blender! I recognize myself in those steps
Thank you for this video! I think it’ll be the perfect template for me to work off of. I plan to go the full nine yards and build out a game for Blender, similarly to your video.
Once it’s done I’ll post it to r/blender and go into more details there. I think it’ll be a very useful tool for me.
Even when I'm getting lots of new information from your video , the way you present it makes it super engaging.... especially the joke/meme part 😂❤
This is such an informative and comforting approach to how to learn Blender. Thank you for sharing your experience, I definitely think this going to help many people, including myself! Keep up the good work💪💯
the amount of effort put into this video is insane!
This video is great. Despite my 5k hours in blender, I can always start using these ideas in my learning. Cleanest editing NA. Have a diddily good one Sminth
I just wanted to give you a shout out and huge thank you for all of your videos. I’ve started watching your videos a month ago, and I die every time I hear an OSRS song or reference. Same goes for the Oblivion soundtrack 😂
Thanks for creating such quality content!
the editing in this is insane
What are the different domains of 3D??
3D for game dev was the reason for me when first learning Blender, fun thing was some of the things I leant in Blender is way easier than game dev.
I modelled a character a few weeks ago, today I gave her a armature and a idle animation today, she is a dog character, first time I modelled a dog from Animal Crossing and a dog in general.
Smeaf, I remember watching some of your videos last year when I was getting into Blender, I enjoyed them but believe that this is your best one by far! Couldn't be more right with the "pit of dispare" as that's where I am at the moment, really wanting to get back into it again so after this video I will jump back down the rabbit hole 😅
awesome, please make more long videos like that it will help both of us.❤❤
This video reminds me of Wii sports introductions and I love it
Thanks a lot for this video! Please also do a complete breakdown how you edit videos like this, that‘d be amazing!
Honestly, this framework is true for learning anything! :D
Honestly, this roadmap could be applied to so many aspects of life. Its really good. I'm definitely going to give this a go.
Great timing on this video lmao. I just spent a week doing the things you just called me out for. I did learn quite a bit in that week but i hit a wall.. This is maybe my 4th cycle.
not gonna lie this is the advice I needed, thanks man
Glad I could help with my silly little video 🫡
crazy editing btw
Great Vid man! U did confuse me little bit on stepps numbering but overall pretty solid explantion, heck I might calling u Sensei Smeaf haha ;)
Ngl guru donut tut made me go from helpless to being able to make a pretty much everything I need for my original plan (making Roblox game and it’s doing quite well but now i definitely fell in love and want to be able to make more enough money to support my family with this line of work as of right now I’m only making 300-900 dollars a month 😊
Awesome Video :D
video production Quality is diabolical
Thanxz smeaf ❤
Yes, this video is philosophical and one of my new favorites
The second he said the WAY method, I nearly cried. Beauty
It was REALLY nice of Smeaf to take time out of his day to sprinkle in an in-depth Blender learning guide in his "What is Skyrim" video 😂
Never really knew what the game was or why people love it more than actual family members/friends, now I get it 🤣
Seems like a fun game I might one day pick up and play! 💝👍🏽
nice timing. I was just thinking of making an interactive mapper/skill tree system for self--learning blender, it's really nice to see these ideas as well.
It'll of course be free and open source in the spirit of blender. If anyone is interested in it or lending their help towards makingit, please let me know! :)
Wow! Everyone is here! All of my teachers! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i like ur zelda background music that is chill
Hey dude., before I lose time on this, I would just like to thank you for posting this video. I would. love to dip my toe into Blender. As you described, I started by watching tutorials, and copying the projects as best I could in order to learn. I put aside my own ideas, goals, and passions (briefly) to grasp techniques and concepts that I knew that I would later use. Then I hit "the WALL". I had watched so many different videos with artists teaching differently, or skipping important basics, that I became overwhelmed and defeated before I really even started one project of my own. Like you, I'm a gamer, so I began with Blender there but FROZE with a head full of confusing technical JUNK. Much love, Smeaf, for showing me that that is kinda NORMAL and a pattern that can be broken, for me or anyone.
Thank you so much, this is exactly what i needed. I love your content style, can you make some more videos on different niches that we can explore or how we can use ai in 3d modelling?
The Skyrim references actually spoke to me on another level, this video has helped more than my degree lol
I want to learn

It feels like this huge life lesson hack post. 😊
