Day trip to Aachen, Germany 🇩🇪 on the Belgian/Dutch border. It is a historic city known for its impressive Cathedral of Aachen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for being the residence of Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor. Aachen Cathedral stands as an extraordinary testament to the magnificence of medieval architecture and artistic ingenuity. A main attraction is Aachen Cathedral, where 30 kings were crowned. Aachen has been around for millennia but it was Charlemagne who put city on map when he made it capital of his vast Frankish Empire.
Had a nice little stroll, tried Sauerbraten and a soft butter filled pretzel made fresh from a bakery.

In Germany, most everything is closed on Sundays. Its for quiet reflection and relaxation. Most people avoid making noise. It’s a great way to unwind and reconnect with loved ones.
Shops are closed except restaurants, bars, and cafes.
