It has plenty to entertain tourists, too! Joined by two students, Lukas tours the city of Charlemagne and visits the famous RWTH, the University of Science and Technology.

It was really fun to take you guys around my city! Thanks for featuring me. Great video. Love from Aachen ❤
We thank you. You were a perfect tour guide. Best regards!
You did give a good briefing & walk-through. We now have a clear idea on the Uni of Aachen.
Fake Accent!
hi priya, I need your help. I'm planning to start my master degree at RWTH Aachen next year, and I need some help and advices for the application. Can I write you in private somewhere? Thanks in advance.
Hi Priya, Need Guidelines for Admission in College... Thanks
I enjoyed a holiday there last Summer. I took the Eurostar from London to Brussels, then the train to Aachen. I enjoyed the historic buildings and the art museum. I took trips to Dusseldorf and the 3 countries point too.
Awesome insight! Glad you enjoyed our homebase and thanks for attending the show!! ♡
I especially enjoy your reviews of German cities. College towns and architecture make a good combination. Your presentation is the best as it feels I am there with you. I am from the USA but I have traveled to Germany several times. Great place to visit.
I lived there for 9 years. So much memory. Really hope i can visit Aachen once again in my life.
I study here.
Perfect University City. Not too big, not too small. An ideal European town. Close to cologne.
The student semester ticket allow us to travel in the whole NRW state and to Some extends of Netherlands also.
To be honest, we went during study in Aachen always to either Maastricht or Cologne to go out. Aachen only to drink a beer or so.
@@paulbeaucuse2092I used to go to Vaals and Maastricht...
hii does rwth aachen offeres English-Taught Engineering Programs
@@bacharrommani3442 yes it offers most masters in english and even some bachelor degrees
Wow... beautiful and lovely. Brings back memories of my visits to this place, when I used to come to our headquarters in Übach Palenberg.
One of my top 5 cities in Germany. Such a lovely place.
Aachen is a lovely place, and it's nice to see Yara. We used to be in the same voluntary group.
I lived there for almost 5 years and studied at the RWTH. Moreover, I crossed the Kármán-Tor and still graduated :D
The Aachener Rathaus is still my favorite building in Germany.
❤ Aachen for Part 1, super helpful info for student options and definitely super cool, dignified music festival! I wonder if Heidelberg will be featured in the next parts... 😁
maybe ☺
@@DWTravel 😁
I used to travel to Aachen for work regularly, our HQ is there! Lovely and old pub/restaurant!
Do you mean the hq from Brenk systemplanung? If yes: poor guy, that company sucks big time
And at the town's boarder you can climb the highest mountain of the Netherlands and visit the three country point between Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, which used to be a four-country point, which is another story to explore...
3:07 I almost had heart attack. Imagine studying at this university as a foreign student and trying to say its name to your parents.
Well, it's most often called "RWTH Aachen", or if you are in Aachen just "TH"
"Rheinisch Westfälisch Technische Hochschule" literally translates to "Rhine (a near river) Westfalia (the area of Germany Aachen is in) technical University", in case you wanted to know
@@julian16180 Aachen is located in the Rhineland, not Westphalia. Apart from that I agree, "RWTH" or "TH Aachen" is sufficient to identify the university.
As a Pakistani I fully support love and respect Germany and its beautiful people from Pakistan 🙂. Best regards from Pakistan 🙂.
Buen reportaje 😉
gracias!
You should have included in your video Weihnachtsmarkt and few scenes inside the Aachener Dom cathedral.
thanks for sharing
you're welcome!
Amazing.
Aachen reminds me a many college towns in the US.
12:57 Looks like a scene out of 21 Jump Street. "How do you do, fellow students?" vibe right here.
🤣 I felt that vibe, too. Believe me😆
Could you please make a similar video but in Bremen? I'd like to know about the student life there
@@geranienbaum Well I already did it but I would like to see a video about it on the DWs TH-cam channel
9:24 of course this will be my first thing in my mind during the whole trip 🍪
😝
Like this city
Someday i would like to go to aachen with my sons😊
My beautiful city,
Students should check out Corps Montania 👌
Is this really an objective documentary. Aachen is not bad but the quality of living in Aachen definitely cant compare to just Maastricht, that is 30 min away.... Aachen had it's great days in the 80s and 90s. Maybe till about 2005. The last years Aachen is only a shodow of itself and the quality of living is sinking fast there
Why?
Ich liebe Aachen 🥳❤
Yeah Burden to Atlas! 🤘
😘
So much about Aachen, but not the aseag mentioned? ;) I think the aseag is also important for students
Good for the new normal people!
❤
Mi brother Is in the back of this part 12:09
apoco chi tilin?
Really??? Nice! 😀
I am famous
2:35 Does she have an ankle band that prevents her from leaving the city or something...? 🙄
10:00 And how often will she have to explain to people she really isn't German? 😁
Imagine what Aachen could be today . I guess it may not be affordable as a University town today if it wasn't destroyed during ww2.
Nice bright sides! Now show the other side of Aachen. Second most criminal city in North-Rhine Westphalia. German upper class kids getting their apartments paid for by mom and dad having a vote on the cities mayor and destroying it with their voting behavior. Beautiful old buildings smeared, covered in paint, trash everywhere, chewing gum on almost every square centimeter of the street and sidewalks, the smell of urine once every 500 meters, destroyed roads, construction with no progress anywhere, the homeless and junkies from the center to the train station, the east side of the city, etc.
Not to mention the ugly post-modern architecture in between those beautiful old buildings.
Aachen was beautiful! When we still had the Tram. 100 years ago. Not anymore. Sadly.
It's because it's the closest to Belgium haha 😁
Borders both to Belgium (Wallonia) as The Netherlands (Limburg). But also in half an hour you are Flanders and a two-hours-drive in Holland.
İŞ KANN NİCH LÜGEN
was für ein hübscher junger Mann mit toller Aussprache, yarrami ye gardas
bro forgot that my country is the best for students…
Lak welches Aachen war er??? Der soll erstmal Kaiserplatz kommen
RWTH > TUM period. 😅
In your dreams hahah
The approach of making is video is proof in itself why not to come to Germany. According to law, all individuals must give their consent to appear on this type of openly available videos, yet in the last section involving the metal concert, nobody was asked for consent to do close ups, and you notice they only do it to foreigners (I am one of them). This is done mainly because de-facto foreigners have a harder time enforcing their rights since the supervisory institutions of the country refuse to give support to those cases.
Thats why abuse and racism against foreigners seems to be low in statistics, because it hardly gets recorded by autorities (and mind you here we are talking about institutional abuse from the goverment)
We have no intention of disturbing or hurting anyone with our filming or through our videos. If you appear in one of our videos and do not wish to do so, please let us know. We can then see if we can remove the scene with you afterwards. We hope you continue to enjoy our content. Best regards!
@@DWTravel I already made that request through TH-cam platform months ago but to nobody's surprise you claimed no privacy protection was trespassed. So I really cannot buy your "good intentions" with this comment.
@@AlonsoQuijanoP Please tell us the exact timecode of your close-up in the video. Then we can cut out the picture.
@@DWTravel Simply delete scenes showing faces from the metal concert, because you didnt ask the participants for recording consent in this event at all, from this and all versions of this video in other languages (I know at least there is a spanish one). *Everybody* deserves their right to privacy to be respected, not only the people who caught DW trespassing their rights.
@@AlonsoQuijanoP We can't ask everyone at a bigger event if he or she agrees. There would simply be something missing from the coverage if we couldn't show people's reactions at a concert. We won't remove all the close-ups. If you specifically request it, we will do so with yours, but we need to know which one it is. Best regards
Just don't go to Aachen Rothe Erde ☠☠
Hahahaha
😂😂😂 only for young women obviously. GNTM coming soon to Aachen
the cathedral and the rathaus are pretty, but outside of the extremely small historic center, the city is ugly, depressing and boring, the architecture is at most decent and people are extremely rude, not to mention that it's extremely unsafe during the night, lots of drug addicts and violent people in the street
For the love of god DO NOT COME HERE massive sausage fest as well as just a very boring city with surprisingly mediocre student life! Also if you can't speak dutch and french it's very isolated as your only link with the rest of germany is an hour long train ride to cologne or düsseldorf. And getting to liège and maastricht also takes an hour even if you can speak all those languages! It's a pretty good uni, especially for engineering with lots of choices and specializations, but the disadvantages i mentioned make it a terrible city! Also, it's just really ugly with no nice river to chill. A student from maastricht told me unprompted to my face how ugly aachen is!
Aachen = lots of rain and very few (young) women. Glad to not live there anymore
women tend to stay away from creeps, so maybe think about what you wrote again
There are less young women because RWTH is more for engineering, material science and CS students. And most of the City is filled by students.
Also rain is beautiful.
Very true! This needs to be mentioned every time aachen is brought up. It's just awful there. Though i think uni in general is highly overrated because it's not the fun time you're lead to believe.
All of the students are there because they couldn’t get admission in berlin😂😂😂
I overheard a med student in the bus saying that she only got accepted in aachen lmao
Seems like a mediocre place.
