I have been a Garageband fan and user for years and have released a few albums commercially (and a lot more just on bandcamp and the like) using it. It's a great program and the pre-loaded effects are great. Obviously as you've demonstrated you can take it to a whole new level! Great video thanks for the hard work :)
I know GarageBand is great but if you have the money and feel ready for the jump, Logic pro is even better
Excellent video, thanks for always
Great video! Thank you
Great info! Garage band is so overlooked; thanks Bill.
Outstanding! I learned so much. Keep up the great work of sharing the art.
Wonderful - thank you
Wow! this is truly creative and inspiring.
Great demonstrations of these plugins, i´m already installing em and give a try. Thanks!
Amazing vid! Thanks for teaching me all of these!!!!
Awesome, I got to do this! Thanks.
I love your videos. Just amazing.
Thanks, Bill - I’m onto it in the morning!
I appreciate this informative and inspiring video. As always, thanks for sharing your gifts with us. Both plug-ins sounds amazing. And they’re free! Even better.
Really great setup Bill! Its amazing you can get such quality ambient guitar soundscapes for free! Thanks Bill - very inspiring.
Bill - great video, and great sounds. I am a rank amateur and learned a lot by just watching you navigate GarageBand.
Your channel is one of only two that I immediately click the like button when starting the video!!
Fantastic run through Bill! I LOVE ValhallaSupermassive.
This is such a great tutorial! Once you get your guitar into your computer, you can make ambient guitar music. And even better, both the free tools mentioned are available for Windows and other platforms too, so you can use any DAW (free, inexpensive (Reaper, Cubase Elements, Ableton Lite etc.) or expensive, and do exactly the same thing. Thank you!
I like the way you say ,very gentle and easy to follow. (Appreciate from Thailand)
Thank you! 😃
As a total lover of playing the guitar with delay units (from the old rack mount TC 2290 , Echoplex etc) & loving recording with the simplicity of Garageband, but never knew where to start with plug ins, found you by total accident - and Oh....what a brilliant You Tube find - this is a really informative vid, I have learnt so much - plus these are all the style of sounds I have been searching for! Thank you, thank you, thank you for introducing me a new little piece of ambient heaven ;0)
Really awesome just started to use GarageBand thanks so much for sharing 👍
Glad you are using GB!!!
Lovelly - thank you
Not my main interest but still learning a lot from you, Bill!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!🙌
I love your channel
Thank you for the wonderful video, love your channel. Wishing you all the best, always. This is basically the same workflow I use to setup synth and effects plugins using my laptop or iPad as a plugin host, I just don't do it in Garage Band. I use AUM in iOS and Cantabile (Lite is free) in Windows.
Great stuff as ever Bill. I'll have to check out Chow matrix. By the way, after watching many of your videos and jamming along on my flugelhorn (the long plays are great for that), I've got myself a baritone guitar! I'd never heard of them before I saw you play one. It's whole new guitar playing world. I'm now enjoying being in a haze of baritone ambience :-) Thanks Bill
That's awesome! Although flugelhorn is also pretty sweet. :-)
sweet! 🎸
Simply beautiful, I've been trying for a long time to find a sound like this for my guitar in GarageBand. Just today I find it. Thank you very much. I won one more subscriber.
Glad the video was useful!!
@@chordsoforion Very useful, thank you
That was a SUPER helpful video; thank you! So many times, you follow along to someone's video but there is some little thing or nuance that is off and it doesn't end up sounding the same for me. But your video was 100% spot on! It had been a while since I had played with GarageBand I just wanted to say thanks; I got lost in playing around with it and then just enjoyed playing for myself with the ambient tones you showed us how to get.
So glad it worked for you Eric!!!
@@chordsoforion Thanks Bill you are an amazing guy, not shy about your faith, which I love and am also a Bible believer! YOU ARE THE BEST BILL LOVE YOU AND CHORDS OF ORION!
Thanks for this. I never thought to use GarageBand - I didn't realise it was basically a mini-Logic. Also thanks for showing it from start to finish. I'm going to try it out instead of Reaper - I'm not keen on its convoluted interface. As a side note, I'd LOVE for some music theory basics videos from you. You have a way of explaining things that I think would genuinely add to the topic on here vs. just being music theory content like everybody else's (which is almost never practical, even if it's understandable). New to channel so don't think I've seen any yet - if you do have some already.....would love more!!! ha. All the best.
Wow!
It's also important that your guitar finish match the strap color and audio interface's color. That adds more saturation and shine to the sound for sure. LOL! :) Nice setup, sir - thanks for the videos!
You are REALLY speaking my language with the sound you're getting in this video. Erik Wøllo, Jeff Pearce, and many more come to mind. That's GREAT!
You just made my studio set up a lot cheaper. Thank you!
Wow!….I’m thinking Bladerunner[ish] smooth ambient modular synth soundscape.
Thank you for the videos
Great! I use Logic and Valhalla is my friend for a long time. =)
Excellent!!!
Really lovely video - many thanks. I'm new to garageband, can you save this set up as a setting to use in other tracks?
Yep! support.apple.com/guide/garageband/save-custom-patches-gbnd9092951f/mac
@@chordsoforion many thanks !!!!!!!!
Спасибо 👍
Bill I’m curious how you go about recording your Strymon units in stereo. Would love to see that.
Hey, Bill. Where could I get this wallpaper of yours? Pretty cool!
Wow, sounds great, thank you! Could you use a Morley volume pedal in this setup and if so, where would you put it?
Yes you can use a volume pedal. If you have a compressor pedal, I would do t he following: Guitar -> Compressor -> Morley -> Audio Interface. If you don't have a compressor, just plug the guitar into the volume pedal and then into the audio interface.
@@chordsoforion thanks a lot, I appreciate it
Can we say "Frippertronics?" Oh yeah... :) I'm a piano/keys guy but totally love the guitar, and Ambient. Your video introduced me to some awesome plugins and tips I can also use, and man I love that guitar sound at 8:24... ♥
Thanks so much!!!
Very cool. I have issues trying to do swells when using different software packages. It kind of fizzles in and then it's suddenly THERE. I tried turning up the input volume on my interface, but I get the evil red clipping indicator. Any suggestions? Thanks!
sounds like you could have an issue with the volume pot on your guitar or gain knob on the interface - maybe try using a little contact cleaner turn the knob back and forth a bunch to clean up the connections - it's amazing how many things i've "fixed" with Deoxit D5 cleaner
Bill thank you for commanding my attention while heightening my awareness of affordable Frippertronics! Bill, please, any ideas of why Mr. Fripp makes use of such a gigantic rack of expensive equipment and custom made guitars? Could it be simply because he can?
hi, i have no problem installing the valhalla. but the chow matrix could not be loaded on my garageband. cant find it on the audio units section. anyone knows how to solve it?
I see that Chow Matrix is available for iPad... anyone know of a way to get the Valhalla SuperMassive features on an iPad?
This is a great tutorial, and I love the recommended plugins, but setting them up on the "master" output applies the ambient effects to all of the instruments in the project, which does not produce the desired effect if trying to play along with drums & bass. At least, that's what happens on the version of GarageBand I'm using. I think to isolate the effect on just the guitar track, you would want to assign the plugins on the "track" control tab, to the left of the "master" tab in the bottom section of the GB interface. Thanks again! Subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your videos.
Totally agreed. This is meant for a solo guitar arrangement only.
How do you save it?
hi at 7:10 for the audio units, I only show Apple as the only option. Can anyone describe why I don't see the Chow Matrix Delay options? I have performed the installation and I have set in my Preferences to show Effects: Audio Units. I have rebooted twice! HELP!!! 👀
I am not an Apple support person, however, here is an article from Sweetwater that may be helpful: www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/my-newly-installed-plug-in-isnt-showing-up-in-garageband
Is there a reason why you load the plugins into the output instead of on the track? Whenever I add them to the output (under Master) it screws up the click sound as well.
no specific reason. and yes, if you are playing to a click, then best to keep delays and such off the master channel.
Would love to try this... but I don't see the links for the two plug-ins. Where would that be??
Hmmm. They are in the video description - did you miss them?
@@chordsoforion So sorry dear heart. For some reason, I couldn't see the words "show more".
Kind of you to reply... very happy to have stumbled upon your videos.
Great stuff. Seems to go on forever. How do you stop it?
Oh it eventually fades out. The way to control is to adjust the feedback control on the SuperMassive.
Figured out I can de-select /reselect the SuperMassive echo plug in between takes.
Have you ever used Zoom H6 as a interface?
No I have not. I do have a zoom H4N, But generally just record directly with it and then copy the audio into my computer for Mixdown.
🌚🖤🎶
it all starts at 13:00
No iOS. ☹️
For iOS, you might want to check out the Velvent Machine. $7.99, but wow! I love it. phonolyth.com/products/velvet-machine
Sorry, not much good for me this one as use a Windows 10 PC and Laptop
I feel ya. I got a new PC for gaming mostly and was trying to find a comparable FREE DAW to Garageband for PC and I couldn't find anything that had the same ease of use and quality of Garageband. Might be worth the dough to buy one. It's also possible I didn't know what I was doing :)
Me too! Might be worth getting a refurbished IPad.
The good news is that both the Valhalla SuperMassive and the Chow Matrix are also available for Windows. Free.
@@chordsoforion Thank you for the update, I feel a lot better now.
